For those Amazon Prime users, if you haven't already, make sure you pre-order to get the 20% off.
As always, really looking forward to this game.

Has the Vita version been canned? It's not listed as a digital download @ Amazon.

PS4 version coming my way via Amazon. Should be here 2morow.
Can't remember the last time I purchased The Show at launch.
I rented the PS3 version last year after an almost 4 years hiatus for me so I ca't wait to see how this looks on the PS4.

It's going to be a looooooong day at work. Can't wait to pick this baby up! However, it looks like I'll be sharing the game with my son as he is fully on board after playing it the last couple years.
Trying to avoid the many game play streams so I can experience it myself.

Will be picking it up later on, one of the things I will be replaying is RTTS but also some online games. Let me know if any of you dudes are in for a couple of VS.
Re: MLB 16 The Show
Love the game..best version yet and I like much more than I did 15. I still can;t figure out hitting for the life of me and I really started struggling with it on last years game for some reason. I use directional hitting but no matter what way I'm pressing on the left stick, the balls I hit always go the opposite way. If I have a left handed batter up and the pitch is on the outside of the plate and I have the left stick pointing left, I would think it I would hit the ball to the left side, yet time and time again, it will be a grounder to the first basemen or 2nd basemen...
I'm all confused!

Re: MLB 16 The Show
Ordered the PS3 version using Amazon prime. $34 after tax. Thanks for the tip!
Was still playing 15 version but can't resist new version.
I will think about a PS4 or by then the 4.5 when hopefully next year they include a behind the fielder cam and make your own ball parks that can be shared by the community.

This is such a bad ass franchise. I loved 15 but 16 is much crisper. Graphically it is better and the sound effects are better. There are a ton of new animations (which is what makes the gameplay so damn good). I've only scratched the surface. Gonna try the new modes soon. I truly feel sorry for those of you who don't have a PS4. All do respect to some of the others but this is the best sports franchise going.tjung0831 wrote:Love the game..best version yet and I like much more than I did 15. I really like how the camera views for Manage mode are Broadcast style.

Re: MLB 16 The Show
Won my first game on Veteran with the default teams. Volquez pitched a gem going into the 7th with only one hit allowed. Mets losing pitcher was M. Harvey who allowed 6 hits including a two run homer making the final score 2-0. One error on each side.
The newer animations are cool. The foul tipped ball into the catchers' glove is what caused my attention in this single game that I played.
Enjoyed the fish-eye view for hitting.

Re: MLB 16 The Show
I was down most of them game 1-4. Then I started coming back via homers which is nothing surprising when you look at the firepower that the Jays have. Still I would prefer to have more singles and doubles to stretch the drama as out of the 9 hits on this game vs the Angels, 3 were homers. Here's the tying home run at the bottom of the 9th after I missed the first CB and hooked it wide. Did better on the next pitch tying the game.
Bottom of the 11th. After Bautista strikes out swinging, E. Encarnacion completes the comeback.

Re: MLB 16 The Show
Game is as good as advertised. Animations are smoother. Commentary is slightly better, or at least they sound a bit more engaged and informative.
Overall, presentation is more polished than ever. There are so many subtle improvements (numerous new animations, closed roofs, more emotion from the players, increased number of brand name shoes, gloves, bats, etc., hit variety (had a couple balls go down first and third base line in to the corners), signature celebrations, etc. etc. etc.).
Batting to me seems quite a bit better. Now, when you time the pitch and square up the baseball, you can really drive it to the gap. I was able to bang out 6 doubles and a home run against the Brewers on dynamic difficulty. However, the next game, I faced off against Fernandez of the Marlins. I only had two hits, one of which was a home run by Molina in the 7th. Struck out 9 times. Fernandez's fast ball was sizzling, and his breaking pitches kept me off balance.
Hechvarria, the Marlins SS, made two amazing plays deep in the hole early in the game. Conversely, Grichuk covered some serious ground in center and made a tumbling grab in center. I've yet to see the wonky outfield "almost drops".
Dee Gordon, who has a 99 speed and steal rating swiped second with pretty much ease. Speed kills in this game, and I really like how they have the speed ratings as the players run the bases.
The Hybrid presentation is a great addition for someone who tires of Broadcast but feels they're missing out on too much with Quick Play. It's really an excellent mix of both and keeps the pace of the game moving right along.
I'm looking forward to adding my "Sounds of the Show". I've grown quite tired of the in-game music. To add the Fox Sports or MLB theme music between innings will only enhance the presentation. I'm sure adding individual walk-up music would take this game to another level, but that's a lot of work on my part, and not something I necessarily wish to do at this time.
All in all, a very solid and improved game all around. Couldn't be happier.

Re: MLB 16 The Show
I have to mention the frame rate issue here and there, especially when pitching. I am using Pulse and during the wind up, at times I experience a hiccup here and there where my intended meter does not meet the target. There's also slight lag when you surf between menus. Fortunately not too big of an issue to ruin the overall solid gameplay but it's there.
Also while the graphics are nice and the color palat is deeper, I expected a bit more from the PS4. The transition from day to night is much improved. I don't know if I am the only one but on a lot of the players' faces their eyes seem a bit crossed eye and their color skin a bit off.
No hiccups continuing my RTTS from 14. Made it to the big league in last year where the Twins drafted me and currently hitting .250 playing 3rd baseman.

Re: MLB 16 The Show
Yeah, they need to work on the player models in my opinion, although I like the noticeable differences in height. They are getting a bit long in the tooth though. I do agree about some of the skin tones and eyes. Russell did say that they face scan as many of the players they can, however some players don't take the time or have the desire to have their face scanned in the game. So, that makes for a little bit of contrast between the players in the game.
Re: MLB 16 The Show
Made my Diamond Dynasty team tonight and played an exhibition against the Braves. I had 6' 10" Chris Young on the hill and....PERFECT GAME
. 6-0 win. No hits, walks or base runners. 11 Ks. The game is exceptional.

Re: MLB 16 The Show
Damn Doby, I never had a perfect game in any baseball game. Congrats!
I am so happy to say the PS3 version received great care this year. My boys immeidtaley noticed a better looking game and the cameras were retreated as well. The ball coming off the bat in dynamic view is subline!
I was able to quickly resume my Astros franchise from 15 I started last month and am 50 games in. Outstanding!!!
My only complaint is baserunning. Even on auto, runneR's are going back to bases even on gap shots. Hopefully it will be patched soon

Re: MLB 16 The Show
Sounds like it's too easy!
I wish I had that problem. I suck at baseball games so badly, but I get this one every year and play it for a few weeks while I slowly come to the realization that, yes...I still suck.
I decided to make a fictional dude for RTTS and try shortstop (I always played First Base as a kid in Little League/Babe Ruth, and never went further than that!), and that is a blast. Plus, changing to analog swing from the zone stuff made it a lot better for me. I can just worry about predicting what they're throwing and focusing on timing, rather than doing stupid sh*t with the L stick attempting to pull a hit to the left...some weird reflex issue, I don't know. I can see the pitch go low and right, and I still pull the stick left trying to hit it.
Analog swing at least took care of that and let me just get into the cerebral part of the pitcher/batter duel.
I still suck at pretty much everything else, but the fielding and little slow-mo QTEs are something I actually dig, even though I'm sure purists will hate it. It makes it a little more interactive than "run here, hit button". I like the R1 for diving catches and the R stick and pull the trigger when it's over the target like a shooter stuff. Makes even routine field-and-force-out plays pretty engaging.
