The Hateful Eight in 70mm
Just got out of the theater showing this in 70mm. If you live in a city showing it this week, I can't recommend it enough. It's gorgeous and visceral as hell. Ronnies is the only St. Louis theater showing it, with three showings a day through Thursday. You also get a book with art and info that is kind of nice.
It's full on Tarantino. That's either great or terrible depending on where you stand on Tarantino. It's my favorite of his so far.

Pass, but thanks anyway. I can't stand Tarantino and vote on his work by withholding my wallet.

Thanks for your input. I apologize for the confusing thread title that tricked you into clicking on a thread you were not interested.

No need for the sarcastic attitude. Your initial post mentioned "depending on where you stand on Tarantino", so pardon me for posting a response. I'll stop there as I will spare you and everyone else what I think of that POS.....Aristo wrote:Thanks for your input. I love most QT movies. A huge fan of Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bills but he did lose Me at Inglorious Basterds as it was just f***in stupid.

Michael Calia, who writes about pop culture stuff at the Wall Street Journal's Speakeasy tweeted this about it, which I found spot on.
But really, it's all about the dialogue. You know everything is going to go sideways, but the road to sideways is a hoot.@Michael_Calia wrote:'The Hateful 8' is nasty. It's mean. It isn't cathartic by any stretch. It's bloody. It's secretly a horror film. I'd watch it again now.

I'm looking forward to it, though I'll likely not hit a 70mm version as I barely get out to see movies as it is now. Maybe someday.

Saw it (70mm) & loved it. Probably his funniest movie ever (though dark as hell). I was surprised at how much the theater was cracking up at it. Good times.

Finally saw this.
I felt like this was the first QT movie that was an abject failure. Some cool moments, but the writing was just nowhere near his usual standard. The best characters were two-dimensional and most not even that. Really disappointing and a total waste of great work by Kurt Russell and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
