NFL 2015-16 season

Re: NFL 2015-16 season
The Atlanta turnaround is remarkable and they have a lot of talent on offense. But there's the Packers and then everyone else in the NFC right now. To lose Jordy Nelson and not skip a beat shows how much Rodgers is focused on making up for last year's terrible loss to the Seahawks.
Arizona really does look tough, though. Legit defense, a nice passing game with Palmer-Fits-John Brown, and a RB-by-committee that looks like a productive timeshare instead of an indecisive talent sinkhole. But Arians is going to have to be smarter about things like taking Palmer out of the game when they are up by 21+ in the fourth quarter.

I can't take anymore of the Dolphins coaching staff. Fitz lobs a bomb on the opening drive and in 3 plays they put it in the endzone.
Bring on the NBA season. It starts for the Heat @ 6PM.

Ahahaha. Cutler being Cutler. Nice pick in a tight game in the 4th.

Really one of the oddest days I can recall watching games. So many terrible coaching decisions.

49ers - push out harbaugh and this is what you get. Kapernick is a joke. That offseason Kurt Warner camp has made him worse. He's trying so hard to show that he's now a pocket passer that he's making terrible throws.

Of course NOT.Inuyasha wrote:49ers - push out harbaugh and this is what you get. Kapernick is a joke. That offseason Kurt Warner camp has made him worse. He's trying so hard to show that he's now a pocket passer that he's making terrible throws.

Re: NFL 2015-16 season
And the Raiders being the Raiders afterward. On 3rd and 2, I would have liked to see a TE drag or something safe to at least try to convert, not run headlong into a 9-man front that hasn't worked all day. Then maybe I'd be talking about a stupid play call that gets picked off, but something...ANYTHING...to try to actually convert and win the game. If they got those 2 yards, they're burning through Chicago's time outs and they might get the ball back with :30 left instead of over 2:00 and 2 timeouts.dbdynsty25 wrote:Ahahaha. As soon as they kicked the FG, I told my wife no way the Raiders won the game. Chicago kicked their butts up and down the field most of the day. Only reason they were even in it is because of the turnovers, but Latavius Murray had his worst day as a pro, by far. Felt bad for him.
I had a feeling this one would be a tough game, but didn't expect to see the offense so inept all day long. Expected to see the defense play like they did, though. How bout that completely uncovered TE, when your season-long problem has been covering TEs? You'd think somebody would cover him in the red zone.....nahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
But hey, I asked for them to just be competitive this year after being blown out most games prior years. Careful what I wish for! They're competitive and win or lose in the final seconds. They could easily be 0-4, or they could easily be 3-1. Crazy team.
Re: NFL 2015-16 season
Yeah, that was a tough loss I'm sure, Terry. I figured the Cutler pick was going to spell doom for the Bears, but he did a nice job getting them down the field. The Bears defense also played pretty well yesterday, especially considering the Raiders have been moving the ball well. Still, Oakland has a nice core of talent. If they can beef up the defense they are going to be good.
Re: NFL 2015-16 season
Yeah, they're a work in progress for sure. The core is great. But they desperately need some corner help. The DJ Hayden experiment is officially a disaster. Almost every big completion you'd see was #25 in coverage, and it's a consistent thing. Going into the season, corner was a big question mark, and TJ Carrie is by far their best corner (7th rounder last year). They'll very likely go cornerback in the first round next year, if not a safety, but they need serious secondary help.
I was also surprised with Cutler's ability to scoot around the pocket and stay away from the rush, buying time for big completions. When a team can do that, the Raiders are doomed. But my biggest surprise was the offense. Again, after two weeks of seeing them clicking, this looked like the 'previous 13 years' Raiders on offense. At least Chicago tried to help out by shooting themselves in the foot, as well, but in the end, somebody had to suck a little less. Bears deserved the win more than the Raiders, for sure.

Re: NFL 2015-16 season
I'm actually encouraged by the Bears progress this season. Moving to a 3-4 is definitely a learning curve but there are times they look like an actual NFL defense out there! I think Cutler has been playing very well too. Obviously he has had 3 int's that were not good throws but I think the majority of the time he is making smart decisions and it is beyond obvious how much better the offense looks with him under center. The good thing about football is a team can be gutted and rebuilt fast with the right gm. Now hopefully Pace is that gm.

Re: NFL 2015-16 season
I feel like the coaching is much better than last year (no surprise). The offense has moved the ball pretty well when Cutler has played, and the defense is doing yeoman's work despite not having the personnel (or talent) they need for a 3-4. McPhee and Jenkins have been playing well, and Ratliff will be a good addition when he gets back in the lineup.ScoopBrady wrote:I'm actually encouraged by the Bears progress this season. I'm on the fence about whether they should move Forte. Long-term, it's the smart move, and it would be good if he got traded to a playoff-bound that needed him. I think the Broncos have the cap space, and the Giants do, too, and could really use him. But at the same time, very hard to see him go. It probably won't happen but Pace is clearly open to it.

According to ESPN, Dan Campbell might replace Philbin if he gets canned today.

Re: NFL 2015-16 season
If Mike Nolan is available, hire him again. His defense in Miami was one of the best.

My kid has been alive 13 years and in that time the Dolphins have made the playoffs ONCE. Maybe I shouldn't care so much.

Try a Raider fan. That would be "NONE", not once.
Coworkers (mid-twenties) don't remember the Raiders being anything but a laughing stock.

You don't want him making any personnel decisions. He f***ed up and missed one of the most talented QBs in history and drafted Alex Smith instead.Rodster wrote:If Mike Nolan is available, hire him again. His defense in Miami was one of the best.

I was referring to DC which is the position he had in Miami prior to Philbin getting the job. Miami is currently setup to split the HC and FO jobs that's unless the owner finds a star HC who demands both jobs.wco81 wrote:You don't want him making any personnel decisions.
