The left turn in Season 2 is odd, especially compared to Season 1. But stay with it. Ends up being a very compelling story, well told. Season 3 returns to familiar ground.

Admittedly I struggled to watch the first episode of The Wire last night, but will hang with it. It moves at a different pace than what I'm normally accustomed to watching.

Yeah season 2 at the docks is the weakest of the 5, but even the weakest season in a brilliant show is still great. And it all ties together so stick it out.

Stick with it, Spooky. It gets better over the course of the season. Over the remainder of the series it will appear even better (and more important) in retrospect.

In Season 1 it looks like David Simon is putting together a fine novel. A few years later, it's apparent that it's so much more epic than that.

Like a few have said, it takes 5-6 episodes to get in the swing.

This may sound pretentious as f*ck, but it's true: "The Wire" is a novel on the TV screen. It unfolds at that kind of pace. It's not a show that has a unique story with a resolution or even a direction in every episode.

Yeah the comparisons to a novel has been made by many.

Of course, some novels do get tedious.

Simon wanted to show how institutions failed all people, not just black people in the hood.

The cops are let down, the journalists, etc.

So the dock workers are a part of that overall story.

The Wire strongest feature IMO was the depth of the characters. I don't worship the show like many, but all of the characters are extremely well-rounded and relatable, even if bad guys.

Mr. Robot wrapped up a phenomenal first season last night. Probably my favorite first season of any show I've watched. The finale felt more like a series of awesome scenes than completely coherent. But it was perfect for the mass chaos going on. Tons of great music, too.

USA has the entire season online to watch. There is a USA Now app on XB1, and I suppose the PS4, if you want to watch it on TV instead of a computer. It's been renewed for a second season, and it worth tracking down. Hell, I'm going to watch it straight through at least one more time.

Don't think it's been mentioned here since it only came out a few days ago, but Narcos is fantastic. It's gotten some truely bizarre reviews...some have been great and some have been lukewarm, but none bad. I fall into the great category. The problem is that it's a Netflix produced show, so you're limiting your audience right there.

Anyway, if you've got a Netflix account, check it out. I'm through episode 7 of the 10 episode first season and I can't wait to watch more later.

Narcos has been great...4 episodes in and it's easily my favorite thing to watch since Breaking Bad and Boardwalk Empire.
I tried to get into "The Wire" but it's just not my cup of tea....I was bored 10 minutes in or so.

Watched first episode of "Narcos" last night with my 14-year-old son. Very, very good. We're eager for more. Our 10-year-old son is annoyed he isn't allowed to watch. :)

"The Wire" unfolds like a great novel on TV. David Simon wrote it that way with intent. If you're expecting a Bruce Willis cop flick with instant ass-kickings and gun fights, you'll be disappointed.

Be prepared regarding episode 2 of Narcos since you are watching with your son.

Thanks for tip. Almost certain it's nothing he hasn't seen. We've watched plenty of R-rated movies.

Yeah lots of point blank killings and tons of tits in Narcos. Can't complain at all for me, but not sure about a 14 year old. Just a warning, like Tjung said. I'm through 9 episodes now and I absolutely love this show (the tits don't hurt).

Through the 3rd episode of Narcos and I absolutely love it despite some pretty glaring flaws. The Wonder Years voiceover thing is ridiculous. It's one thing to go with the dime store Scorcese thing, but this show way overdoes it. Still, can't wait to watch them all. :)

I judge it on a case-by-case basis. If I think it's too much, he stops. But I also don't believe in wrapping kids in cotton gauze.

Thanks for the head's up, though, fellas. Knowledge is power.

Narcos ratings must be good on Netflix because it's been renewed for season two already:

If you're looking for a 30 Rock-style comedy fix, give The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt a try. The premise is completely different but the comedy feel is very similar. I'm about halfway through the season and it has gotten really funny.

Also, was entertained by the first episode of Colbert's Late Show. Uneven for sure, but he did a bit about Trump and Oreos that had my wife and I laughing pretty hard.

Anyone watching or has watched Bloodline on Netflix? It's probably been mentioned because it's an excellent show. No spoilers please, but can anyone confirm if there is or will be a second seaon?

It takes a little getting used to seeing Kyle Chandler in a different role other than a coach on Friday Night Lights, but he plays his role very well.

U ppl are nuts. Season 2 wire was one of the best. The change in story was ballsy and adds to the whole story.

Season one takes about 5 episodes to get going. It's slow but there's a good reason so to build the characters up for the rest of the series.

The man in the high castle on Amazon prime is excellent.

It's very non PC so may be hard to watch for some but great story and acting.
