I'm still waiting for EA Access. I think it looks great, and the limited content isn't bothering me much. But it's a brand new game from scratch. I'm not buying in until I play the game and verify that it feels right. All they need to do is match up with previous TW games, but I've played enough sports games to know that you can't assume anything.

But I am as excited as heck to get my hands on the game. The only bad part is that I have family coming into town, and my daughter's graduation/birthday party on Saturday. There is still a bunch to do to get ready for it.

This late release has realm sucked, because I've been ready for months.

Wondered when that joke would come out. First thing I thought of when I saw the headline about ruptured ligaments.

And limited content doesn't bother me at all. I only play about 4 courses around here and I can't master them, so 8 seems like a ton to try to figure out, as long as they don't have issues with the hardest difficulty being too easy to hit straight on. I don't know, I love a golf game.

That's why I still think Perfect Golf is the best one I've played. With the temp swing meter controlling accuracy, it feels like my real mental approach to the game. If I shank one, I know where I screwed up, and end up compensating and going down a rabbit hole. I know guys love TGC, but I don't have nearly the same problems hitting straight shots there as I do in PG, and with their recent changes the putting game got a lot more challenging too.

I just need a good console game, and this is the only one in town...so I guess I'm looking forward to it by default.

So you haven't played the Golf Club then? Not sure how that's possible.

That's where I put TGC. I played it on PC. I can't stand how the entire thing is laid out. I couldn't get past the bizarre UI, the courses either having insane wind or almost no wind, how you choose to play a round itself, etc. Nothing about TGC made me want to play it more than the 5 or 6 times I did. And no matter what I changed, everything seemed to go straight.

That's why I play more PG then TGC. Didn't say I never played it. But I like the PGA, and that's what I meant by only game in town. Sorry for the confusion.

I have to agree with Terry here. While TGC is ok, I didn't find it particularly compelling to keep playing. You can have all the courses in the world but if the game play is lackluster I don't really care. I'm just not convinced RM will have great game play either. We'll find out soon enough.

The golf club is OK. Where golf games really need to have everything tight is on the short game. If players can't putt or chip well due to the mechanics the game just falls apart. I felt TGC really had issues with that aspect of the game.

I'm hopeful that PGA plays well and that they add in more courses soon. Augusta NEEDS to be in there.

That, too...I hated--absolutely HATED--the putting game. Don't know if it was the camera, the angle, or what, but I had almost no feel for touch on putts. I didn't have massive issues with flop shots and little pitches and chips, but the putting especially turned me off. It didn't give me a 'feel' that I wanted.

I don't think the TGC is garbage at all, but it's just too sterile in my opinion. Perhaps, it's too sim for my liking. Not being a big golf fan to begin with, I need a game with atmosphere (commentary and presentation), different swing options, real courses, top pros, and pretty visuals. Not to mention, the mini games look like a nice alternative when I just need some fun. It still doesn't mean I'll be purchasing Rory PGA Tour, but it definitely has peaked my interest. Looking forward to the early access.

Agree with your description, but it is not nearly "sim" enough for me. The putting engine still has an issue where you can putt the ball straight and it will come off the putterhead at an angle. Drives me freaking crazy. Another problem I have with the game is many of the courses coming out are nice to look at, but they have rock hard and silly fast greens along with idiotic landing areas for tee shots as well as carnival pin locations in an effort to protect par. Been playing all season on TGC Tours and the course selections are getting more and more ridiculous. Tee to green, the game is ridiculously easy IMO. On the greens it can be a crap shoot and that needs to be addressed. I will still play the game from time to time, but it will be my fall back Golf game if RM offers the kind of gameplay I am looking for.

^^^ This in a nutshell. I thought it was the camera leading to totally unpredictable putts, and everything else was easy to hit straight. And the courses seemingly having predetermined wind and silly layouts to avoid -20 rounds just wasn't fun.

It felt like a sparse, minimalist version of golf that was fairly easy. So instead of having a nice variation to shots, you have insane courses to create artificial difficulty.

How does the demo process work? When does the time start and how can I get the most time? Is it when EA ACCESS is open or just the game itself? How do I make sure that the game is truly closed?

Time starts when you start the game. Don't forget to end the game each time you walk away from the game or the 10 hours will keep running. You can play the EA Access version from now until well after it is released up to 10 hours and it is the full game.

In the past, I have noticed that even if the game is still loaded, if you go to the Xbox dashboard or watch TV, it does not include that in time played. You don't have to make sure the game is quit. If the game is open and on an in game menu, that does count, though.

Early feedback over at OS is not hugely positive except for graphics and presentation.

Multiple people said putting is not good and it is too easy to hit the ball straight. I'm thinking of getting EA Access for a month just to try this but really interested on some feedback from people I trust. I usually can tell in less than 10 hours if I will like a game though, I've just heard they make it impossible to cancel EA Access.

What? Graphics and presentation are supposed to be it's bread and butter. That would be a huge disappointment if that part of the game is a let down.

I'm in the middle of the intro stuff. Graphics and presentation are definitely nice. I will say the resolution isn't super super impressive. It looks good though. I just want to get into the game with my own player. More coming. Check the activity feed for some vids.

In settings you can set the cameras to follow or Pro. In Pro the camera stays behind the golfer and then at the last moment switches to landing. I like it so far.

It does seem rather easy. Putting is different and (initial reaction) too easy. I am on Tour BtW. Still feeling it out.
