You forgot the biggest factor behind the rating: 'Murica. Nationalism on Fourth of July weekend. Doubtful the game wouldn't have earned one-fifth of that rating if the final was Germany-Japan unless millions of Axis Powers re-enactors came out of the woodwork across the 50 states.

People are actually calling for Klinsman's ouster, because of the god damn Gold Cup.
