2015 nba draft

Post by fletcher21 »

I'm hardly a basketball rube, but my co worker buddy is a huge fan. T wolves have the top pick. We're going to make a little $100 dollar bet on why they take. The pick has to be Townes, right? If it were me I would take Russell or Okafor, but I'm not a gm.

Towns has more upside than Okafor because he plays FAR better defense and has a solid jump shot.

Okafor is better inside offensively, but that's it. He's a classic 5. Towns can play with his face to the basket, while Okafor is a true back-to-the-basket post player. Okafor has better post moves, his only advantage over Towns. Plus Okafor can't shoot free throws, which is becoming an increasing liability in the NBA with Hack-a-Shaq becoming a popular tactic. Towns shot 81 percent from the line last season.

Russell is damn good, but the T'wolves already have Wiggins, Rubio, LaVine and Dieng to fill the point and shooting guard spots.

Plus I want Russell to fall to No. 3 so the Knicks can take him. :)

Russell is going to the Sixers at #3. Knicks are picking 4th

I will say this, I am really liking the NBA right now. Nothing will ever replace NHL Hockey for me but the NBA has definitely vaulted past MLB and the NFL for me.

Exactly. The Dicks...I mean Knicks have #4. My Sixers will probably take Russell but it wouldn't shock me if Hinkie took Mudiay. I've been following all the draft talk and still can't get a hold on what 2-5 will look like. Towns is the sure #1. He's a stud. This Porzingis kid is shooting up the charts. Freakish ability for a 7'2" dude shoots like a damn 2 guard.

I never was good at math. :)

Screw Sam Hinkie and his hoarding of "assets." Just how long will Philly fans tolerate "rebuilding" while Hinkie continues to act like a mad scientist in an odd attempt to justify his existence? Seriously, if Philly wins 25 games this season, will that be enough to satiate hungry Sixers' fans?

If Russell goes third, then I assume the Knicks will take Porzingis or Mudiay. Porzingis scares me. He's 7-1, 209. He'll get mauled without putting on at least 25 pounds of muscle. I don't think the Knicks need the second coming of Andrea Bargnani.

I would rather have Mudiay, but I also wouldn't mind the Knicks trading down a few spots to get more picks. Towns, Okafor and Russell are the clear three blue-chippers in this draft; everyone else has some sort of risk. The Knicks gave away so many picks for the now-foolish Carmelo deal, and they need draft depth because Phil Jackson probably will wipe the roster damn near clean.

I'm with you, Tim: The NBA has soared to No. 2 on my American team sports list, behind only the NFL. And it's damn close to a No. 1A instead of No. 2.

At some point, the Sixers must lure a big free agent to Philly or swing a trade for a superstar with some of their hoarded assets. They can't win regularly with a roster full of first- and second-year talent, veteran retreads and D-League call-ups.

Indeed. The perfect combination of Wilt, The Doctor and Evel Knievel. :)

If Russell is somehow still there at #3, the Knicks will grab him. Otherwise, I see them looking to move down. I keep reading about their interest in Trey Lyles and Frank Kaminsky should they move back.

I also love the Sixers new unis. Think I need to go get some Converse All Star sneakers.....Memories of watching Doctor J soar.

Because of Wiggins, I spent more time playing wit the T-Wolves in NBA 2K15 this year than any other team. I'm pretty pumped for them to grab Towns for all of the reasons you stated. With Wiggins, they will have a pretty incredible, and really young, tandem to build around. And one more season of Kevin Garnett will be a great way to get Towns ready for the NBA. I think the T-Wolves will continue to be a fun team to play with. They still need some more pieces, but I like how they are building.

MLB and the NFL are still my favorites, but the NBA would overtake the NHL for me if St. Louis, or even KC, for that matter, had a team. I really hated the NBA for a long time, but these playoffs were pretty fun.

I've got my retro Doc jersey on right now for the draft :). Knicks are #4 btw.

Steal of the first round.

Pisses me off the Knicks wasted No. 4 on Andrea Bargnani Part II. Phil was a great head coach, but he's a sh*t GM.

Booker falling to Phoenix is a ridiculous steal too. Not sure who I like more between the two. And Knicks...hahahahahahaha.

I don't think they're expecting Embiid to be ready by the start of the season, or anywhere remotely close. I even read they could keep him out the entire season.

Embiid is the next Greg Oden, sadly.

Let's not jump the gun. Embiid has been totally on schedule until this last scan. He hasn't reinjured the foot, has no pain and has been great throughout the entire process. They just "saw something new" with this scan. Draw any conclusion you want (and many have) but nothing is for sure here. I'll start getting depressed when factual data is presented.

Everything sounds fine up until that point but that's not a good sign. Hopefully he gets healthy and stays that way.
