Re: Project Cars
Group 5, anywhere, anytime, but preferably at Oulton Park, on an endless loop, forever. I love that place in any car but especially the Group 5 BMW 320. The track is narrow enough that I have to really work on every pass, the car challenging enough that I can't switch off from it and if it gets away under power or over a kerb, it'll come back if I'm quick enough to ask it. Big, big fun.
I ran Formula B at Silverstone GP tonight too. Don't know if either of you have tried them but they remind me of one of the Formula Nippon mods we used to run on rFactor. They've got bags of grip, as you'd expect from a winged Formula car, and initially they feel like they're running one of the safest default setups in the game - the front will go if you're trying to carry big mid-corner speed but it's easily fixed and feels like the only thing that can go wrong.
Soon, though, you figure out that you're not pushing the braking zones hard enough, try to utilise all that downforce by braking later, maybe having a trail brake, and BAM! Even at low speeds, the rear tyres break away the instant you ask too much of them (I nearly binned it twice braking into Luffield, which I approach in 3rd and take in 2nd). You can save it but it's always attention-grabbing, to say the least. Not a difficult car to drive, not even a difficult car to drive quickly, but to get the last couple of seconds out of it...that's different. Mega, mega car.

Re: Project Cars
My hot lust with Formula C -- my first love in this game -- continues unabated. The perfect car for me. Not too much power, lots of grip, very responsive to setup changes, tons of fun to drive and race.
But GT3's are quickly turning this tryst into a ménage à trois.

Are you guys doing any career mode, or just wanking off in single race weekends?
And I thought i read an article today that claimed DLC for Project Cars was going to be free? Or was that only for the PC version........

And $3.49 for a Bentley GT3 car, Bentley prototype, BMW prototype, McLaren GTR and one other car is a pretty good deal. It will be interesting to see what SMS charges for DLC tracks later this year.

Hmmm, seems that some content will be free, while others will cost cash. But yes, I"m sure it's worth it and I will probably buy it.
I wonder if the new cars get added to career mode, a la Forza?

The bottom of the Career screen features a few permanent season credentials labeled "Coming Soon." I wonder what those will be?Gangrel wrote:I wonder if the new cars get added to career mode, a la Forza?
Rumor at the Project Cars forum is licensed series, such as Blancpain GT3, DTM or BTCC.
SMS boss Ian Bell also has said at the Project Cars forum that an oval is almost a lock as one of the DLC tracks. I'm guessing Daytona or Indianapolis, since both have decent "roval" road courses.

Fellas.
Are you guys playing this online at all? if so, how it is?
Also. I've been watching a number of videos on this game and it seems as if it currently runs better on the PS4. For those that have played it on both consoles is there a noticeable difference?
Thanks.

Playing it online from time to time (joined a league on PS4, waiting for it to start up).
It runs pretty much the same on both systems.
The difference is the controls are more finicky on the XB1, and the resolution is noticeably lower. More jaggies, more of a low-res look to it as opposed to PS4, and certainly PC.

Thanks Terry.
My kids are hooking me up with a Next Gen machine for fathers day. Was leaning towards the PS4 but will wait until all announcements at E3 have been made before letting my wife know which console i'd prefer.

It's bumpy. Takes awhile to reach lobbies. It's solid, once you're in a race.FifaInspected wrote:Fellas.

SMS supposedly is polishing the matchmaking system in the next or an upcoming patch.
Project Cars on the XB1 is a fantastic driving and racing experience. Too bad SMS released it as a beta product. I would have ditched any other game weeks ago. But this game deserves patience with the developer because it's so damn good.

Re: Project Cars
Unless they changed it (I may have to go back and look), the PS4 version had a simple lobby browser like most games. You go to Browse, search through the available lobbies and it tells you whether they're in lobby in a race, etc. Takes a couple seconds.
XB1 only had that random match last time I checked, which could be why it takes a while to get into a room?

At the historic 24 Hours of Le Mans race that takes place this weekend in France, Ford announced an all new Ford GT race car, and to celebrate the occasion, Turn 10 Studios unveiled a series of custom Xbox One controllers to commemorate the history of Ford’s legendary victories.
Fifty years ago Ford made history at Le Mans with a series of victories that came to define an era, including the first win by an American driver and engine (1965), and one year later, the first overall win by an American constructor.
These one-of-a-kind controllers, built by the Xbox Hardware team model shop, are inspired by the Ford-powered cars of its namesake year.
Xbox is proud to return as an official sponsor of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. Forza Motorsport has featured Le Mans’ famous Circuit de la Sarthe since 2009’s Forza Motorsport 3, and the upcoming Forza Motorsport 6 features the most accurate, laser-scanned version of the track available in gaming today, including both historic and current configurations with the ‘Forza Motorsport Chicane.’

Re: Project Cars
It's too bad, though, as I doubt F6 would have a 24 Hours of Le Mans style of race. I'm assuming PCars is more realistic in this regard.

Patch 1.4 is out for PC and PS4, Xbone waiting for Microsoft certification.
I've read the notes and don't see it mentioned, but I hope they fix the audio problem I experience sometimes. It's like a weird, echoy lag..... if that makes any sense. It comes for 10 seconds, and then goes away......

Hey Fellas.
I'll be picking up a PS4 and Project Cars this week and i'm thinking about adding a wheel. Can anyone here recommend a mid-priced wheel that would work well with the PS4?
Many thanks.

Re: Project Cars
I think your only options are super-cheap, or expensive. I have a buddy who got the Thrustmaster T80 and says it's great, but there's no FF and the pedals are pretty crap, and that's $99.
The only wheel I can confirm works is the T300RS, and that it's bad ass. But the pedals that come with it are kind of junk, and that shouldn't be the case at $399, so by the time you're properly kitted out you've picked up another $250 for the almost-required addons to make it serviceable, but I doubt that's the kind of investment you're talking about. Logitech has the new PS4 stuff coming out (G29) in July, but it will be expensive...same $400 price tag as the T300RS.
Personally, I'd say that if you're just looking to have a wheel so that it drives like a driving game, I'd start with the T80 and see if it's your thing or not.

Re: Project Cars
The patch downloads automatically after you confirm you want the update. To check your version, click on Manage Game when in the general Xbox main menu and Project Cars is in your Xbox tray or running in the background. The size of the game with patch 1.4 should be 19 GB.Jimmydeicide wrote:where did you get it and how do you know what version you are running?

Re: Project Cars
I'm about ready to surrender with the Xbox One version of Project Cars. The 1.4 patch didn't improve the framerate 5 to 7 percent on some tracks, as promised. It degraded it, BIG TIME, on many tracks. In fact, the 1.4 version of this game is the first console title I've ever played that's making me nauseous because of the inconsistent framerates.
Chug, spurt, chug, spurt. This never happened with any previous version of the game.
It's almost time for me to trade in Project Cars next week at Best Buy, as a 30 percent trade-in bonus will be offered. This game has so much promise, but it's simply not any fun to play a title that was released barely in beta format and continues to be a mess five weeks after its release.
Think I'll maybe re-buy this game later this summer at a bargain price, hopefully once the problems have been fixed. But right now the Xbox One version of this game has more bugs than a garbage dump on a steamy summer evening.
A shame.
