Still tons of stuff to like, but getting through this vintage race is making me want to throw my controller.

*edit* F*CKING happened again, I was probably going 30 MPH when a car hit me on my side and sent me tumbling in an Escort.
That's odd. I've never driven the Escort but none of the other cars have been like that for me. Just done a little further reading and it seems that the Escort is susceptible to bouts of low-level flight when in the player's hands, but the AI drivers aren't similarly afflicted.

If its more the detailed settings your after cant help you there, haven't done enough with the game yet and mostly i use the wheel.
I know the 1.3 patch was not supposed to do anything for the wheels yet, but I swear it seems worse now after the patch. Jimmy, are you noticing any differences good, bad, or otherwise after the patch with the wheel?

What really kind of sucks, is that in my efforts to get the wheel working to my liking in Project Cars, it appears to have messed up the FFB and controls in Forza 5 and Horizon. I installed the latest firmware for the Thrustmaster TX and it really feels much worse now in the Forza games. Not much definition, too strong FFB, pull to the right, not centered, very strange feel. I have re-set everything in the Forza games, and it still is off. Could be that I just need to get used to it again after the firmware update, but I really just wish I could get back to the way it was in the Forza games, as it was some of the best FFB I have had in console or PC.

Default, mode 3. I spent two hours last night f*cking with settings, and none felt any better than default, which is pretty nice.

Is anyone else getting a message when you try to change the button settings for gear shifting, it won't let me leave the screen and says not all the required controls are mapped?

Yeah if you unmapped the KERS, you have to re-map it.

Clutch, gears, steering/pedals, and KERS have to be mapped.

Decide to try Formula C at Spa. AI car gets his front wheel in front of my rear wheel, tires contact, and I go flying followed by a barrel roll. This was at about 50-60 mph. Then I take the Lotus 49 to Monza. Out of the first turn chicane, which is a 1st gear, low speed section, wheels rub and I again fly up in the air, some down at a 90 degree angle and smash my left front suspension. Yep, I'd say the contact physics are ridiculous.

Whether it's this kind of stuff, the handling which tends to be more on the arcade side rather than sim, the AI short cutting the course (Spa is terrible for this), or the broken wet weather AI this came is seriously in need of patching.

Don to be honest all I've done so far is Olton park short with rookies ,clios radicals,Formula c
Imola with radicals
Monaco with Formula c and the one class before it.( i touched wheels in the tunnel and flew into the roof of the tunnel it was ridiculous)

My wheel seems fine , i mean its drive able which doesn't mean the effects are right but it feels fine for now, i was going to update my firmware but i may not now and just wait till the next patch and see.
Im definitely not feeling loss of traction through the wheel and on that first slow hairpin at Olton it feels weird like the car is on rails , for some reason the car doesnt seem to behave properly and i think that is due to not having the tire forces through the wheel properly or the game is just a little raily almost like there is some steer assist still even though its off.

I've still not formed an opinion either way yet that's why i want to get familiar with it with one car and one track to really see whats up.

The directions for updating firmware seems a little over complicated i don't want to do it just yet, i don't understand that whole Bootloader thing, seems weird to me and don't want to mess with it as its ok right now and when i downloaded the drivers it just uninstalled all my thrustmaster stuff and had to redo it all just to get the thrustmaster control panel back .

So I'm gonna wait and see.
I mean the reason i ditched pc and play console now is to eliminate all this tweaking s*** i had just had enough of it and now the consoles are worse than the pc it seems , i just can't be arsed any more.

Is it just me, or does the frame rate on the Xbone version kinda suck?

I was messing around in my career, and saw some vicious drops in a kart race? With only 12 drivers?

Hmmm........

Also, has anyone invented a way to get a 360 wheel to work on the Xbox One? I doubt it, but thought I'd ask....

Seems like this game is a lot of trouble. If you spend more time setting it up than playing it keeps someone like me on the fence to say no. I really want this to be toca2. But sounds like it's not there yet.

Look, unless you're a true hardcore Sim fan, I would stay away or the least get the PS4 version. I got almost all assists on and still struggle even when I am driving cleanly because of some dumb weak AI bump into your rear car, can send you flying in no time. Real life you may say, perhaps, and there's a patch so I hear that will take care of the frame rate drops and what not.

My point is that this game wasn't ready for the Xbox One. I can wait for this patch and two weeks later another patch to fix another issue. Next Gen folks, for $70 CDN dollars I expect a game that works and is playable from the get go.

I just don't have the patience these days for games that are incomplete, and relies on future patches that fixes what should have been done from the beginning.

Especially with all the hype that this title brought on. But if you have a good PC or PS4, Sim racing dudes seem to enjoy it.

I hear what your saying but From reading other forums, the tweaking isn't just for the xb version. The ps4 players are also spending more time tweaking than playing. Maybe it's a sim gamer thing but I remember when sliders were new like 10 yrs ago and everyone would spend time tweaking than playing. Killed the fun factor and was a dark age in gaming.

Sucks these guys can't put out a playable version out of the box

A CronusMax and wireless PC receiver will get the Microsoft 360 wheel to work on the One but without rumble or force feedback.

Sounds tempting but by the time I bought all the cronus and a wireless receiver , I might as well buy the non fFB Thrust master wheel for $30 more.

I could seen a Cronus if i had a nice Fantec or something.....

As for the framerate issues, looks like its a known issue and rebooting the console may help. Smells like a memory leak.......

It does seem better though since the patch I'm not noticing it as much. So the 5-7% gain like they said is about right.

Maybe wait until the Next patch to see the reaction too the ff wheels then. If they get it up to pc standards or closer sounds like we are in for a treat.

It's not the overall frame rate I don't think, but rather that the longer I played, the more jerky it became. I haven't had a chance to try it again, but maybe tonight I will reboot the Xbox and play some more, see if it still feels the same, or better......

This is the second game that's made me wonder if I made the right choice in Xbox over PS4... 3 games if you include I direly miss a baseball game, but that's another thread!

Back to the game, am i the only one who sucks at shifter karts?

If playing games is the #1 use case, you did make the wrong decision, especially because of The Show. LOL. That said, I've got two damn XB1s and I use them for media stuff more than gaming. Of course the exclusives (Forza mainly) are played on the XB1, but the rest of the games I get on the PS4...there just hasn't been a multiplatform game that is better on the XB1 that I can remember. Sad as it is to say.

They're awful, horrible, hateful things. The head of the studio said the other day that this game engine can't really do karts. He's not kidding.

Another thing with the karts, and with any series that features rolling starts, is that you can qualify on pole and then be overtaken by an AI driver while your car is still being auto-driven to the start. I hardly laughed at all the first time that happened.

I continue to enjoy PCARS very much but the game makes it incredibly difficult to do that sometimes. Still, imagine what state it must have been in when it was originally due for release last November.

I can't stand the shifter or 250cc karts.

SMS has said on its forum that framerate performance is better if you run the game from an external drive. Mine is on the internal drive, and I see a few hiccups here and there on certain tracks. No show-stoppers yet, though.

Here's a GREAT feature in Project Cars that's getting very little attention: Set Driving Assists to "Real."

This setting automatically turns on and off traction control and ABS based on what assists the cars use in real racing. For example: GT3 cars will have TC and ABS turned on by default because they use them in real sports car racing.

You may discover you love some cars with Real assists turned on that you despised without assists. And there's no guilt if you're trying to achieve full "sim-dom." :)

I'm about to play the game after having the Xbox rebooted, so I will see if i notice the difference. framerates were fine, but then I got the weirdness after a few hours of playtime, so I'm thinking it's the same as the Golf Club was before it got patched.

I think you made the right choice. XB1 for sports is a blast for me, and EA access really helps out. I tried THE SHOW but just dont have the time to play it. I ended up buying RBI 15 and it satisfy's my baseball needs.
