I'll be waiting on word for gameplay improvements, but this early info is a nice change from the total radio silence last spring. Maybe EA is actually putting some effort into the game this year.

Re: NHL 16
From OS.
1. “The New EASHL”
Key points in this description of the new EASHL are “Reimagined ... specialized player classes to deliver a balanced competitive experience ... player skill and ability to play as a team will now be the determining factor in who wins.”
So to confirm everyone’s questions, yes EASHL will be back in NHL 16 on next-gen. It is way different than anything EASHL has ever been in the past. Personally, I did not like it at first but after playing for a few hours and getting the hang of it, I can see it being a hit later on into the game. Specialized player classes mean that each player build (grinder, playmaker, sniper, etc.) has already been pre-built for you. No longer will you have an amateur 1 card working your way up to the legend 3. The grind for 350 games 200 wins is no longer going to be evident at the release of the game in September. EA Sports has designed the new EASHL so that new players that don’t pick up the gamemode at launch will be able to jump in and still be somewhat competitive. In the past, the “Christmas noobs” and guys that start the road to legend 3 late in the game would always get destroyed by other teams because they simply did not have the attributes to compete. The thing with the new EASHL is that if I pick sniper in September and master the build over 300 games, and I match up with a guy who is playing his first game in EASHL later on in April, statistically we will be matched if we have the same build. There was multiple testing and tweaking of the builds while we were there so that each build has its pros and cons. If you try to play 6v6 you will not find any success in running with three grinders like some have done in the past. The game has been made so that teamwork within your builds is crucial. You will need to have a sniper build if you want to get that wrist shot in the slot to go in 9/10 times, and you will need a playmaker to set that sniper up. Another important fact : each player build has the SAME speed, agility and acceleration so that speed is not a factor in who is the better player. Monthly playoffs are back in EASHL. It is still uncertain whether or not you will be able to choose your height/weight in EASHL. At the time when we played on April 30/ May 1, we were able to customize our height and weight but we were potentially looking at height and weight becoming a pre-set into the builds themselves.

Re: NHL 16
Hey, I am perfectly ok with that. Suiting up to be the OD for the Dragons or grinder on offense. And did I read teamwork? Good stuff...

Re: NHL 16
This is what i voted for when they had the questionnaire/ poll.
Its perfect for us, cant b*tch about being over matched, now if when we get hammered its because we really do suck.
A concern early on may be its going to be stop the sniper in the slot every game type scenario but i like the idea better its up to EA to execute it in a good way.
At least this way if PK or Rob or any one who just want to dabble wants to join up for a night they can no worries about being over matched

Re: NHL 16
I'm really interested in BeaGM. I really hope they step it up this year. I played both x360 and xb1 versions quite a bit, but the x360 version I'm still playing BeaGM because it's so much deeper. Glad they are bringing AHL integration into current gen versions for 16.

So will we all have access to multiple builds? or no?
Game cant get here soon enough. Get the entire team back together again for some some 5 on 5 games and some classic intra squad action.

Re: NHL 16
Yes. I dont think you can have 5 snipers on a team you will need to mix up the builds.
Re: NHL 16
Correct. Teamwork. This is when we gather together before the game starts and play to each others' strength. Feel like sniping the next couple of games, cool I'll be staying back.Jimmydeicide wrote:Yes. I dont think you can have 5 snipers on a team you will need to mix up the builds.

Re: NHL 16
Boys, over the weekend I was fortunate enough to be one of the many puckheads here in Vancouver to be chosen to play test the upcoming edition of NHL 16. In particular the EASHL mode.
Yes Ice Dragons, I can confirm that we will see it again comes September and I look forward to it of course. Gone is the old system of grinding out with your created player where you have to play a certain amount of games and wins and get the corresponding attributes as you advance. Now, I am not sure if the old system will be back for some hardcore EASHL'er in the future or whether they did not have time to get the attributes correct as it was a mess on HUT in NHL 15.
You can still create your player and from then on customize your look, height, weight and when you're done accessorize him. Once the match up is about to start, that's when you pick the character of your player, whether you want to be a grinder, sniper, or two way forward. An offensive D-man or stay at home D.
To be honest I did not see a difference among the different characters and partly maybe because the game is still not 100% finished but with each character, there's a default slider for passing, shooting and what not. You do not need to buy any more XP's to boost up your passing for example.
Which for the casual gamer this is welcoming news of course, anyone with any hockey interest would be able to pick up the game and we could have great intra-squad match ups. But for the hardcore, yes we will battle it out there with the usual pimple faces and puck huggers that spoil the game of hockey. Ice tilt included.
In my games we were 5 vs 5 and no worries Naples, you can play as Goalie too. So 6 vs 6 will be available. And again not many liked playing defense while they were more interested in scoring. And from what I noticed again, I wouldn't focus too much whether you want to be a sniper or playmaker because playing positionally sound was paramount, way more important than dressing up with the characteristics of the player that you chose. Play your position, don't wonder around.
The gameplay seemed to be toned down a notch speed wise, while the presentation and commentary hasn't changed much. I couldn't fiddle too much with the settings either as we were mostly there to test the gameplay for this particular mode. I do wish that passing is improved as it seemed like players were missing even the most easy pass as it happens often currently on HUT, but hopefully they have some time to touch up things.
Not much else I can say, as we had to sign a non disclosure agreement, but just wanted to share my experience with you Ice Dragons with the mode we all love and thankfully will be better than ever, albeit with some changes.
And no, I didn't see Ramjag or I would have sent him a big FU salute from all of us.
