I just joined the next tourney and I will be using a 7 point player. I think it would be better if everyone stuck to that, but if it is the consensus that a "soft" limit is better then that's OK too. It's not like we are playing for money, but I like to compare scores that is all and it hard to do when we are unequal.
I dont know why we cant all agree to play as 7 max points? Isnt it better when we are all on a level playing field? Limiting power to 10 is not fair. I am using 2 for power. I think it's realistic enough. I can avg 250 and sometimes can rip one 275-300. Why is any more power needed than that?
JRod wrote:I would say 7-10 is the limit on Power but Putting, Recovery and all the others need to be at 1. Plus the difference in power is about 1 MPH so a change in a couple there isn't a big factor. But if you have the power at 15-20, then you will be hitting it awefully far.

I used a non-upgraded player (0 pt) to play the tourney. Sully and I play with a group that plays the same way, and I felt instead of screwing up that player and style Id just keep playing with that one in this. Ignoring the 12 on hole 3 on the 1st round and my 4th round that I pissed myself off in, I had a good tourney without using any skill points.
I have a challenge for you though, replay the 4th round and do not pull out a putter and see if you can match the +19
. I actually shot -2 on the back 9 without using a putter (except for the gimme's of course).

Damn, I try to join the second tournament too late. 100 percent my fault, as JRod sent me the invite a good five days ago.
Really enjoyed the first tournament, as Links 2004 never gets old for me, and it's fun to compete with DSP buds.
JRod, please keep sending me invites for future DSP Links tournaments. I simply spaced on signing up for this second tournament.
Thanks,
PK

You sent me one last week for tournament #2, but I tried to join too late. My mistake.
That's the last invite I've received from you. If you've sent invites for a third tournament, please throw one my way, if there's room.
Thanks again for starting these tourneys. They're big fun.
Take care,
PK

Tourney 3 is now up.
Oakmont, same rules, same style. It should be a bit easier to score than the Scottish Swing (DSP 2). Even the Sunday round (round 4) you should have an easier time at it.
Tournament 4 will be out Low Ball Tournament, it will probably be set up on Superstition or Mauna Lui (whatever that course is). It will be set up easier to score so we should see some really low scores.

Leebo, I'm trying to hook up with Jack to do third round, perhaps we can do a threesome for round 3. I can do it Wednesday, but HAVE to be FINISHED by 10:30pm so that I can host the TOCA race at 10:30. This would mean we'd have to start by 9:30 pm at the latest, and play relatively quickly (perhaps use FAST-PLAY if it is an option.)
Otherwise I'm good to play it on Thursday, or Friday night around 10pm Eastern time.

James,
Thanks. Is there any way we can tell if fast play is an option? If not, it's no big deal. I can start as early as 9PM. If that isn't good for you guys it's OK. I can try to hook up with again on Thurs. or Friday. I'm not even sure if three can play a XSN match as you definitely couldn't back when the game came out.
If there isn't any shooting or racing scheduled for Friday maybe we could have a "DSP Links Poker Night." Anyone interested?

I'm probably ok to play at 9pm tonight, but won't know until around that time.
I do remember not being able to play 3 people in one group for an XSN round... maybe that is changed. All we can do is try.
I guess what we do is logon to XSN and enter the round 3 code. Once we're all in there, one of us creates a match and invites the other 2. If you guys can logon around 9pm, I'll try to be around and create a room and invite you.
If we cannot get a group of 3 going, I'll just play my round with Jack as I originally promised. If you guys are logged on, and don't see me (give me 5 minutes leeway please) then just go ahead and play round 3 as a twosome without me.
Sound good?

Yeah, those pulled snap-hooks were killing you.
I enjoyed playing the round with you. My wife was making fun of the commentary the whole time.
We could not do fast-play, which I prefer (Jrod is there a setting when setting up the tourney?) but we started early enough that I had no problem taking a nice break after the round and being ready for the Toca2 race.
