Enjoy it, man. Don't forget to claim your Forza awards. Tons of free cars and cash to buy more cars.

wow i'm not feeling this game.

for a game only over a year old it really shows it's age. It looks very much like a first gen launch title.

Maybe I'm spoiled by FH2, but the feel of this game isn't fun for me right now.

I do like the in car view, which is the best I've seen in racing games. It is very vibrant and alive in that view and the view where you see the hood of the car.
.
The speed feeling just isn't there just yet for me like it is in FH2.

DC seems like they ripped off the menus of F5, but I feel DC is a bit better. I wanted F5 to be a companion game to FH2, but I feel DC is more like that.

Too bad DC is so damn hard after rookie tour so the difficulty made it unplayable for me or I'd think about rebuying it again. I wish it had the customized difficulty and assists like the Forza series has.

Ill keep playing but I'm glad I only paid $20 for this one. It's really worth that much, any more I'd feel ripped off.

found this on the forza forums, best describes how I feel :

I didn't hate five, and every now and then I reload it and play around a bit on the 'Ring, Spa, or Prague (my favorite courses) but to be honest, like many have said before, the Horizon games are more fun. I think they capture the essence of driving around on roads. Forza 5 seems more sterile, like you're in a lab, figuring out how to carry more speed into that tight corner while maintaining exit speed, hitting each apex, and overall tightening up lap times. The Horizon games, on the other hand, enter the lab, strip you of your labcoat, hand you some alcohol, a dubstep playlist, put you on an open world map and say, "Here's your playground, choose your weapon."

It all depends on what you want from a racing game/sim. Technically, I paid close to $800 for Forza 5, as it was the main reason I finally bought a XB1, and I purchased the wheel (thanks Mix), the collectors edition, and the season pass. Well worth it for me. :)

Yes. It was the only game I wanted or had next gen til Horizon came out.

Ya i think it's too sim for me. PK warned me it may be too hardcore for me but I liked FH2 so much I thought F5 would be a good companion. But I like arcade racers and this one is just not that. I can understand why hardcore racers would love this game. It has the best in car view and it is very challenging.

gamestop is giving $15 credit for F5. I think I may do it, will end up being a $5 rental for me then. I can live w/ that. I'll turn that $15 around to XB points and probably end up buying storm island for FH2.

I'm not sure what you expected from F5. Everyone in this thread let you know it's almost nothing like FH or FH2.

Horizon is a driving lifestyle series. An open-world game surrounding cars and car culture. Forza 5 is a pure racing game. Closed environment. Car collection. Tuning, etc.

DSP Yas Marina (Full GP Circuit) - F1 2014 Season Finale Challenge - Final Results

Monday Nov 17, 2014 - ???

Post a Rivals Lap in all 8 classes at Yas Marina (Full)

Use any car, setup/tune, and assists you like, but you must post a clean lap for it to count in the Rank.

Shoot for The Mechberg Rank Benchmark

Sorry for the extreme delay on these results Jimmy. You are the man! Thanks to everyone who participated. This one was not quite the same as clearly Brian (aka Mechberg) had not done as much quality racing here compared to the Road Atlanta Challenge. Many of his laps were not clean. Hey, very fun nonetheless, especially since we got Jimmy and Adam in the mix. I did score non-clean laps, and if you got times in at least 6 of the 8 classes I scored you in the Rank. If you did not get a lap posted in a certain class, I still counted you, but with a +25 second total to the rank (just to be fair). Cells highlighted in Red mean that you were missing a lap for this class. Those highlighted in yellow mean your lap was not clean.

So just to summarize, using Turn 10's Brian Ekberg's (Mechberg) times as a Benchmark, your total rank is how many total seconds slower, or faster you were to his benchmark times at Yas Marina Full for each class. As you can see, only Jimmy (The Deicide) and Adam (theycallhimsim) both managed to get an overall negative rank. Well done guys. Some pretty impressive battles there.

Bugger. I thought we'd stopped posting times after the first weekend of December and have spent the last 3 months blissfully unaware of Jimmy's retaliatory sneak attack on my "last 2 minutes of qualifying" runs. That Class C lap is an absolute belter.

Yes, I managed that whole contest very poorly. Sorry about that. I have some ideas in the works for the next few months as we wait for Forza 6.

I did call out DC for the results the other day fingers crossed that Adam was still under his rock or found a new girlfriend.

Lets do another while we wait for DC to give us his ideas, dont think ive driven Forza since this event.

Thanks again Don great stuff.

Don't be daft, Don. Without you, we wouldn't have ran the challenge at all and Jimmy's laps are worthy of winning no matter when they were posted. Looking forward to more soon and if anyone asks in the meantime, I'm going to pretend every other class was practice for my Aston lap...

If the new girlfriend part happens, I'll be asking the thread for advice on how I break that to the current girlfriend. I'm thinking, "Haven't you always wanted the mortgage all to yourself?" or similar.

I tried everything and lots of cars trying to get at your Aston Lap, thats as close as i could get, awesome time Adam.
yas was a tough track to post clean on very frustrating at times chasing something knowing your lap isnt going to count after the first corner or even the previous corner before the Starting straight some times :)

Well said.

Due to Don's efforts I have run a million Forza laps over the years.

Jimmy I applaud you and your effort...and beating Adam in anyway is a great feat in itself.

Plus...You did a great job showing off the greatness of this game.

Re: Forza 5

As the 2015 racing season has started, I am now back into a racing frame of mind and decided to setup some monthly Forza 5 Rivals challenges to coincide with the 2015 racing season, and to see us through to the release of Forza 6. These will be 3-4 week challenges, with very specific end dates and times (sorry about that last one guys!). The schedule will be as follows:

March - 12 Hours of Sebring
April - Grand Prix of Long Beach
May - Indianapolis 500 (Oval and Road Course)
June - 24 Hours of LeMans
July - Nurburgring
August - Spa
Sept - Road America and Laguna Seca

So without further ado, the first challenge for March celebrates the 12 Hours of Sebring. I know it's flat and alot of people hate it. However, I have always enjoyed it as it is a very tricky track to get just right. Lots of chances for mistakes. The Turn 10 version really captures what race footage looks like. Would be cool if in Forza 6 we get to drive into the night.

DSP 12 Hours of Sebring Mechberg Rivals Challenge

Saturday Feb 28, 2015 - Sunday March 22 at 11:59pm ET

Post a clean Rivals Lap in all 8 classes at Sebring Full

Use any car, setup/tune, and assists you like, but try to post a clean lap for it to count in the Rank.

Any laps that are not clean, I will add 5 seconds and highlight in yellow. If you complete most of the classes, but miss a couple and want to be in the rank, missing class times will get a +25 and highlighted in red.

Shoot for two Benchmarks (aka Ranks). The Mechberg Rank and the World Record 107% Rank

Why those Ranks? Our old friend Brian Ekberg (Mechberg, aka BBReBozo) of Turn 10, sits atop my Friends leader boards (timewise) for practically all the cars/classes I was looking at for Sebring (except for X Class where dave2eleven will be the benchmark). Therefore, providing pretty solid lap times to shoot for. Try to beat his times posted for Sebring Full for all Classes.

If that is not enough of a challenge for you (Terry, Adam, Jimmy) you can also try to beat the 107% time of the current World Record for that class at Sebring Full. The 107% rule is a Formula One regulation where during the first phase of qualifying, any driver who fails to set a lap within 107 percent of the fastest lap time will not be allowed to start the race.

Your overall Rank for both benchmarks is how positive or negative you are to the benchmark times.

At 11:59pm ET on Sunday March 22, 2015 the challenge will end and I will record video of the current leader boards so that it basically takes a "snapshot". I will then compile the results and give each DSP member posting times for each class a Mechberg Rank and a World Record 107% Rank.

I have provided below the current Mechberg Laps, Cars, Assists Used, etc. per Class at Sebring, as well as the current World Record in Forza 5 and it's subsequent 107% time. Likewise, if there are some other cars that are consistently being used in the top 100 times, I posted those as well. But again, feel free to use your own and be creative.

I'm definitely in for this. Thanks for organizing, Don! This challenge might the only thing to get me interested in Sebring. Love the 12 Hours, dislike the track!

Nope, quite the contrary. The more the merrier! It's really easy to participate. Just try to post a clean Rivals Lap in all 8 classes at Sebring Full. Everyone has from now until Sunday March 22 at 11:59pm ET. Just make sure you have me as a friend on Xbox Live so that I will see your times on my Friends Leaderboard. My gamertag is DChaps66.
