Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Have you tried the MTU fix?
1. Go to settings.
2. Go to Network.
3. Set up Internet Connection.
4. Choose wifi or LAN, whatever you use.
5. Choose CUSTOM.
6. IP Address - Automatic
7. DCHP - Do Not Specify
8. DNS - Automatic
9. MTU Settings - MANUAL
10. It will be set to 1500 BY DEFAULT. Click that, change it to 1473. Press R2.
11. Click Next.
12. Proxy - Do Not Use
Worked for me, still the only way I can connect.

There is a bug on PS4 that if you're in a game, and you quit or go back out to the main screen, then try to access PS Store, it won't access it, you just get the background screen. Only way around it is go back into rest mode, then turn it back on.
Also if you use REST MODE, that if the internet connection or PSN goes down while in rest, when you take it out of rest, it says can't connect. You then either have to reboot , meaning turn it OFF and launch it again, or go to Network --> Test Connection, and then it'll reconnect.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
YMMV, neither case has been my experience.Inuyasha wrote:Diablo25 wrote:Are you guys still offline with PSN? I have an internet connection with the PS4 but cannot connect to the PS Store. Sucks.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Powerstar Golf FREE for XBO? ? or is it just a demo version that is free?
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
It's not the full game, so basically a demo. I think it is outstanding. I put in as much time on it s I had FH2. Wish it had things like head-to-head play, but they indebted score chasing in a really creative way. It makes it really addictive.

Thanks skinsfan. That MTU setting trick got me back online.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Started up The a Last of Us on the Ps4 last night around midnight....then it was 5 am. I NEVER do that but this game sucked me in. Yeah, yeah, yeah last to the party but damn what a tremendous, beautiful game. The story telling is so well done also. Hope to finish the game over this holiday break. That is saying something because I rarely finish sp games.

xbox one owners - noticed werid thing tonight. when i turned off the console, the power brick made this low humming noise. maybe it's happened before and i just noticed it. is this normal? The white light is on which I know is ok as long as I leave it on standby mode. Should I be concerned or ask for a new power brick?
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
This is normal. It's a fan you hear. If you have the instant on feature enabled it's basically just running the console in a lower power state so it can check for and install updates and boot up much quicker. It's annoying that the fan is still required or that they at least couldn't have used a quieter fan.Inuyasha wrote:xbox one owners - noticed werid thing tonight. when i turned off the console, the power brick made this low humming noise. maybe it's happened before and i just noticed it. is this normal? Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Cool thanks. It use to be quiet the first several days but I can see having it in all the time would require the fan.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
got EA Access and are download speeds this slow on EA servers? I started downloading NBA LIVE at 2pm, and 6.5 hours later it's at 55 percent. Seriously wtf. And I have the fastest internet available in this area. Is that the norm with digital download?

Not normal. I downloaded FIFA today & it took about 25 minutes or so.Inuyasha wrote:got EA Access and are download speeds this slow on EA servers? Here's something I noticed. When I started the download, I left it alone in standby mode. And it was taking forever whenever I would check in - say in 15 min time, it went from 87 percent to 89 percent.
But when I kept the XBO on and went into the queue to observe it, it sped up by a lot and finished from 90 - 100 percent in about 7 min.
Is there some kind of config/setting on XBO where I need to set to have the download on sleep mode as fast as ON mode?
added - i did connection details in XBO and was surprised my DL speed was just 14 mbps. I did a test on my laptop and it came up as 42mbps download speed. Why is XBO so much slower? Is it a setting I have to change or it's normal for consoles to be slower?
added 2- did some research on the XBO site and looks like my NAT should say OPEN for the full speed to take effect (im guessing??). Mine says Moderate. When I did the test, it says 'your network is behind a cone NAT'.
What do I need to do here? I did replace my old router with comcast's earlier this year which is a dual modem/router.
added 3 - ok , just as I typed this i went back out and now it says my NAT Type is OPEN, but my download speed now says 16. Still bad I guess, nowhere close to 42.
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
My XB1 is wired, and I get around 78 mbps. When Charter upgraded me to 100 mbps, I've never hit more than 80-90, which is fine. when I had 30, though, I would hit 35-40. So yeah, I think you could do better.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I'd say there's a 99% chance that''s your problem. If you have a wireless router on your network AND your comcast X1 modem (or whatever they're using) is acting as a modem & router you've got a double NAT conflict. You'll need to get into an online chat with a comcast rep and have them place your comcast modem into bridge mode. Once they do that you're xbox will most likely have an open NAT because the conflict will be resolved. I can't speak to whether or not it will actually improve your download speeds though. What do I need to do here? I did replace my old router with comcast's earlier this year which is a dual modem/router.

If I just connect a cable from the router modem to xbo will that increase my speed?

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
You're asking if a wired connection is going to be faster than a wireless one, the answer is yes. However as pointed out, the bottleneck is probably at your router.Inuyasha wrote:If I just connect a cable from the router modem to xbo will that increase my speed?
Edit: I should expand on this more. A wired connection is more stable, less lost packets or drops in connection. When it comes to online gaming the speed in the game is going to be a level playing field so it won't be faster just more stable. When it comes to downloading the more stable connection will result in lower download times.
Technically you can have a wireless router that is as fast as a wired connection but in my experience it doesn't matter because wireless signals are so easily disrupted by other devices. All of my gaming consoles, PC's and other important items are wired. Things like iPads etc are using wireless.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
thanks all for the info.
bridge mode - i logged into my router and see i can choose bridge mode. if i do this, will it mess up any of my wifi? I won't do it until one of you experts responds.
UPDATE - Ok cross that out. I just read Dan's email. Hooked it up direct connect, now getting 31 download WOWOWOWOW! Thanks guys!,
added - checked PS4 wireless connection - getting 25 download. compared to wireless 14 on xbo. shouldn't they match or be close?

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Not really, there is a whole bunch of stuff that goes into bottlenecks. Also the Xbox has this whole crazy things with Open Nats. Mine is Open and other times it is not without me doing a damn thing to the systems. Typically Xbox Live is faster so that is odd.Inuyasha wrote: added - checked PS4 wireless connection - getting 25 download. compared to wireless 14 on xbo. shouldn't they match or be close?
You also have to watch out for providers throttling your connection. I had to call AT&T because they capped mine because I had too man devices hooked up. I had to argue that over half the devices were iPods and what not that weren't being used. I'm not going to go charge all those and turn them off.
By yourself a cheap hub or port switch. I have several of them. You plug that into the router and then it give you 5 ethernet ports and you can wire all your machines in. Cheap ones are less than $50

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
my fifa download is stuck at 44 percent for like the last hour. so i think it may just be EA Servers causing this. I've played some online racing and no problems with the connection wired and wireless. I do see in other forums others are having the same issue I am w/ slow dl speeds on XBO.
