Y'all suck haha
I'd love to be in a full active league again, but the 3 game per week committment is too much for me right now.
Same. It would end in my divorce.
I have to say that the more I play Madden, the more I am loving it this year.
Yeah, thankfully my wife is pretty tolerant. My phone goes off like crazy with chat messages all day long, which makes it feel like a real-world league
MizzouRah wrote:I'm thinking about getting into Madden again.. do I just start with default AP? Also, what quarter times and run offs are you guys using?
I run mostly default. I definitely made some changes to the QB accuracy and and offensive line play. When my wife stops playing Shadow of Mordor for a minute I will take a look at them. I'm really happy with sacks and opponent completion percentage, as well as most everything else.
I run with 13 minute quarters and 15 second run offs, and I find that I get my 120 plays or so.
I'm reposting this from the NBA 2K15 thread. The one thing I wanted to add, which MizzouRah kind of of reminded me, is that I play with no run off in this mode. These are short quarters, and it does ruin the mode if you run every play down. In heads up, I will use the LB to set my offense to Chew Clock if I have a lead in the 4th, or a 2 TD lead in the third, or at anytime if I am blowing my opponent out. Actually, if I'm getting blown out I will run chew clock, as there is no reason to extend the agony.
But when switching from MUT to Play Now, your clock runoff setting carry over, so make sure you reset it to what you need.
The only UT mode I am playing these days is Madden 15. After years of considering NHL's HUT the best mode, Madden really hit it out of the park this year. I had tried it and the NCAA version in past years, and found it to be terrible. But this year's has so much solo content. And I've really begun to dig the style of play in heads up. I don't play it a ton, as I'm just in level 3 in four seasons played. I'm 2-1, and I expect to win the number of games required to promote to the next level. But I will hit a wall soon. But there are gobs and gobs of hours of MUT play without ever playing a single online game.
It's not going to be for everyone, as it is not sim. The quarters are short, so the strategy is more like playing in the fourth quarter for the whole game. At this point, the online seasons are 4 minute quarters, so you have 16 minutes to manage. But you have six time outs, two end of quarter stoppages, and two two minute warnings. Then there is half time, and timing it so that you can score and get the ball back, or avoiding letting your opponent do this is a big part of the game.
Some guys go with aerial attacks, but that limits their ability to mange the clock. I go with a Ground and Pound attack, but that limits my ability to come from behind. Other than a few quitters in the very first level, most of my games have been fantastic. I've been blown out a few times, and pounded a few other guys. But many come down to the last couple of possessions, and managing the clock is huge.
I have absolutely hated madden for years and years. I boycotted EA after the exclusivity deal. Even after giving up that and buying their games, I rarely kept them for more than a couple of weeks. But Madden 15 might be my Sports Game of the Year if I don't consider FH2 a sports game. Because on top of MUT, I love the regular gameplay, too. I have not spent this much time with a football game since FBPro 98. And yeah, that includes NFL 2K5, and even the several online seasons I played of APFB 2K8.

I had significant penalty slider changes, too, but they seem to have been lost in the DDoS attack, as I also replaced my console in the middle of that. My Skill Sliders were in the cloud and were recovered, but not the penalty sliders.
I'm considering increasing FG Power and decreasing FG accuracy a bit. Otherwise, these provide good games for me on All-Pro.

So we downloaded the Madden 15 Superbowl edition but I'm wondering if something is fubared.
I like the colors better on the XB1 version and the game looks nicer but I've noticed 3 things happening that are odd to say the least.
One the controls feel way more sluggish, I can't describe it better than this.
Two we exited a game to resume it later and Madden said something about profiles witching and the game just froze at the controller select screen.
In running hurry up no choice of picking plays came up, it just went to the line with the current play and gave me standard audibles. Surely this is not how the XB1 version works right?

1. Can't compare it to the PS4, but I've not noticed it being sluggish.
2. This is, unfortunately, common with Madden, at least on XB1. Madden logs out of the servers, but does not always come back up when you resume.
3. No, that is not normal. I love the way Madden 15 handles no huddle, and it is because you can choose from plenty of plays. I do think if you call no huddle on the fly, rather than have it as a setting, that you will be set to run the same play, but you can easily audible to a new one. This I like because as you scroll though the plays it shows the play art on the field which makes choosing a bit easier.
But if I know I am running no huddle, I set it in the play screen using the LB. Wit this, you should be given a full slate of pays based on what I assume is your personnel.

Ok I read that multiple times and I'm not sure what you mean.
On the PS4 after a play is over I hit triangle (I think) and then I get a menu of plays to pick from. On the XB1 when I hit Y, they just go to the line and there is no menu of plays. I can hit the audible button at the line and then pick from that limited set.
I have no ideas about setting it vs on the fly because there is no such concept in the PS4 version I am aware of.
Also yes I played this game primarily on the PS4 until yesterday and the controls are noticeable more unresponsive on the XB1 version and the game over all runs slower on like speed settings between versions.

I just tried it on XB1 and have no issues w/ audibles. It's same as PS4. I hit Y, the 3 plays come up, I can choose one or if I back out, it goes w/ the last play I ran. Maybe you have it on that easy play calling setting.

Every EA Sports game this year play smoother on PS4 vs XB1..........EXCEPT for NHL 15. NHL 15 XB1 kills the PS4 version. I think they must have developed every game on PS4 and ported it over to XBO, but NHL it seems like they developed on XB1 and ported over to PS4.

In the menu where you normally call plays, there should be an option to set temp from normal, to chew clock to no-huddle. It's at the very bottom of the menu.
I wanted to play a few dozen games before making this claim to be sure it wasn't just a placebo effect. I then bounced back and forth between editions and in my opinion there is no comparison the XB1 version of this game is superior. I've seen more realistic game play and more importantly so many animations fire I've never seen in the PS4 version. I'm also partial to the color palette on the XB1 which makes the game look better. I'm basing this opinion on probably 150+ games on the PS4 and 40 or so games on the XB1.
I couldn't figure out why this game felt so different and more importantly looked so different from an animation standpoint. So I played a game on XB1 and then the same game on PS4 and repeated a few times (I was bored) and I think I have the answer or at least a theory.
The PS4 version is smoother (frame rate), the controls a little more responsive, a little less laggy so to speak or another way to put it more twitchy. I could make cuts on the PS4 I just could't accomplish on the XB1. As a running back I could do near impossible moves on the PS4 and as a DL I would have a hard time getting off blocks like they claimed was new. On the XB1 I can get off blocks, so can the cpu. My guys can't cut or juke through holes as fast. I think this slight speed difference is actually allowing more animations to play out, or so goes my theory.
This weekend alone I had 3 or 4 WTF moments on the XB1 going I've never seen that before it especially shows in WR animations and running back stumbles / recovery. I spent $24 on this just to play with my kid but now have move my franchise exclusively to the XB1.
Oh and I figured out my issue from above. When playing H2H on the same console the new audible system doesn't work, it reverts to the old system.

Looking forward to Madden 15 when it shows up on EA access. One thing I discovered on Madden 25 XONE was the DL play. As soon as the ball is snapped pushing the right stick up causes a push of the DL vs OL. I created a lot of pressure on the QB and got the occasional sack that way.

Interesting. I feel the same way about nba 2k15. Ps4 is smoother and more colorful and faster. But xbo version plays and looks more like real nba ball.
I agree on Madden PS4 vs. XB1--it's not just you. I got rid of the PS4 version when I started playing the XB1 version for my league, and I have close games on XB1. Didn't happen on PS4, even against the CPU.
I'm not sure what you mean by old audible system. I play couch-versus every week or so and haven't notice audible issues.

Sorry i meant no huddle. When hitting Y after a play it doesn't bring up the play call system window it brings up the audible system as if at the line.

I never do. I just set the playcall screen as No Huddle and it happens automatically.
If you press Y that's like the hurry up, where you audible. Setting the tempo to no huddle gives me full play call abilities in the same personnel package.
I'm just glad I'm not crazy. Madden 15 is the most fun I've had with a football game since APFB 2K8. It has also eliminated most of my craving for a new NCAA title. Like any sports games, it has its issues. But consistently, I feel like the game rewards and punishes my strategy and execution in ways that make sense. I feel like I have to earn the ability to run or pass in the game by taking advantage of mismatches.
All I really want out of Madden 16 is a nice, tight, simple mode for doing an online league. Forget all of the franchise stuff, drop the the requirement of only having 32 team leagues, and let six guys get to gather and play 10 game season with custom rosters. It would be a bonus if we could do custom uniforms and team names like APFB, but I can understand the NFL wanting to keep their product front and center.
If they did just that, and keep the gameplay as it is, I would be more than happy. What I worry, as with nearly every sports game I end up loving, is that they "improve" something that ruins the experience.
I still stand by the fact that the league I'm in is the most fun online I've ever had. I love this game, and the more you play football, the more impressive it becomes. I just convinced some other owners to do a team swap-a-roo, so now I got a hold of my Raiders for this 3rd season and all future games (Madden 16, etc.).
Knowing there's 32 guys in the league, and everybody runs all sorts of schemes and tries all sorts of tricks to get ahead, and there's very little cheese to be dealt with, says plenty. NASCAR and racing guys all try to get every advantage they can, and this is the most competitive league I've ever seen. I brought a buddy from OS over, and he's 9-1 in the current season in that league. He went 2-14 in his first season here. These guys challenge each other every week, and there seems to be a solid spread of "top tier" players, guys who are hopeless each week, and the vast majority of the league right in the middle, with 3 playoff teams in each conference changing between season 1 and season 2, and different Super Bowl participants each year.
I don't know why that big long rambling bit of useless info was there, other than to say this--I agree. The game is incredible fun when you have guys you play with regularly. I've had no experience like I've had in this one, and it continues to strongly control my online play since I joined last year.
Yeah, I would have jumped at the possibility of joining that league as you've described it, but the commitment was beyond what I can do. But that's the main thing, to get back to playing in an online league in which every opponent is human. But most of the time, that is easier to accomplish in smaller leagues, where it is easier to agree on scheduling and commitment.
I've been surprised as to how little cheese I really see when playing MUT. 90% of the games are tight, strategic matches. I've had an equal number of blowout losses and wins, which makes sense since I'm pretty much a .500 player. But it would be cool to start playing more friends, even in pick-up games. My MUT team is a bit overpowered, as I have an 88 rated team, and I've maxed out my style points on both offense and defense when I got a Joe Gibbs coach card that is +25 in both Run Stopping and Ground and Pound, which are my team's styles.
What I've found is that I can dictate the pace of a game pretty well, but I do struggle when behind if I have to throw against a team that knows I'm throwing. One thing that has helped was getting a George Blanda card for QB. I basically came down to deciding between him and Otto Graham (they are cheaper to acquire than more recent star QB's, because the kids don't want them), but it was Blanda's high Play Action skip that tilted in his favor. It let's me throw more earlier in the game.
After getting through 2nd and 1st string Rookie Seasons, it seems like I will have a tough time getting promoted to Pro first string. I'm on the 2nd string Pro level, but I failed to make the playoffs, but won enough to avoid relegation. I'm not 2-3 in my second try at 2nd string Pro. Basically, I figured out how to beat all of the kids that grabbed mobile QB's in order to cheese, but I'm now facing the guys that actually use them in smart ways, and understand how to exploit strategies. You really can't maintain the same strategy all game, or even throughout a drive. These guys pick up on it and adjust.
But I think I'm kind of ready to move on to giving franchise play a more thorough chance. I've been debating on if I should take the chiefs or try to build up someone like Jacksonville. I'm mildly interested in Cleveland, too. But mostly because Manziel is better in Madden than real life.
