Re: Forza 5
jimmy, there may be another way for you to win some more in game cash:
Thanks a Million Rivals
Picture this, Thanksgiving fans. It’s an hour after the big meal. You’re bloated and possibly gassy. The Eagles have annihilated the Cowboys and you’re currently watching the Seahawks dismantle the 49ers by four touchdowns. You’re bored, and you’re looking for some thrills. So, why not play our limited time cross-game Forza Rivals event?
Known as “Thanks a Million”, this challenge will feature two Rivals event; one in Forza Horizon 2 and the other in Forza Motorsport 5, each featuring a different car to test your skill. The best part is there are multiple ways for you to win in-game credits. Simply setting a time in both events will earn you a small amount of credits. The top finisher in each event will receive 1 million credits in that game and the player with the best time across both events will win a further 1 million credits. In addition, one random player who has set a time in both events will also be the lucky recipient of 1 million credits. There are lots of ways to earn credits no matter your skill level, so give them a try before these events shut down on Monday, December 1.

Re: Forza 5
I'm struggling to afford the top two classes, having had to buy A and R class cars tonight, but I've put times on the board for the other categories.
I lost 45 minutes tonight staring at the back of Don's rocket ship of a Mini, most often seen shooting off into the Class D distance, again. Not a huge amount of top end but it's mega on corner exit, to the point where it almost doesn't matter what line you're taking - it'll fly out of the corner regardless. It takes some beating, or it took me some beating at any rate, so set a few minutes aside for that one.
Only had time for 2 or 3 laps in most of the other classes, but that's enough to know that for the first time in a video game, Yas Marina isn't my Kryptonite. That I've enjoyed hotlapping tonight is a testament to the handling model in Forza 5, not to the track itself.

Re: Forza 5
Is there a rule that says we have to own the car for it to count? I haven't got the cash for an X car so I rented the Lotus E21 in Free Play, set it to no AI cars on track and gave myself 5 laps. My best lap time from that is showing up on the Rivals leaderboard.
If that's allowed, it might be a way of getting everyone some times for every class. If not, then disregard my X class lap time. All my other laps are in cars I own in-game and I only ran the F1 car laps to see how quickly I'd go - it was out of curiosity and I didn't realise they'd show up on the leaderboard.

If it shows up on the Rivals Leaderboard it counts in my book. All F1 drivers don't own their cars outside of the ride buyers.GB_Simo wrote:Is there a rule that says we have to own the car for it to count? Re: Forza 5

So a time in free play shows up on the rivals board just as it would if racing in that mode, you just dont earn any points racing in free play.
I just posted times in the last 2 classes P and x.

I just redeemed 2,100,000 credits in FH2 and FM5, and 150,000 credits in FH and FM4. Pretty sweet!

Thanks for the reminder, The Donald! I just raked more than 2 million credits between FM5 and FH2.

I never imagined that I would grow to like Yas Marina. I am sorry I have not posted any updates to the competition, but I have enjoyed chasing ghosts today.

Not that I will have time to try but I might

I did get lost in Dragons Age.
I think I do have bad times in every class.

Yeh We need a deadline as Adam just did his equivalent of the last 2 mins of F1 qualifying and beat every one of my times. So now i can at least have a chance at maybe besting 1 of his times.
Not that i ended up liking yas Marina but i really do like this Rivals thing when you set it up DC. Hurry up and lets do another.

Yas is one of my least favorite tracks but it is great to go do a track in every class.
The "bad" is seeing how much faster all you players are. I am stuck in mud

This adds so much more to the value of an already AMAZING game.
MS kicks all kinds of ass with Forza. Loved it from day one and still impressed.

That's only because it took me until Saturday to figure out why I couldn't see your times on my friends leaderboard. Re: Forza 5
I like Forza 5 better than Horizon 2. Both are excellent games, but I never thought I would like FM 5 more than FH 2. FH was my favorite Xbox 360 driving game, and FM 4 bored me after about a week on the 360.
FM 5 is superb in so many ways.

Re: Forza 5
Interesting. Why do you prefer it over FH2? Thinking of picking up Forza 5, but I'm no gear head so I'm a little concerned I won't get enough out of it as the majority of you guys do.pk500 wrote:I like Forza 5 better than Horizon 2. Re: Forza 5
I'm a racing fan and love race cars. Also enjoy real-world racetracks. Plus the Drivatar system in FM 5 is fantastic, and I tend to find cleaner online racers in FM 5.
FH 2 is still a fantastic game. 9.5 out of 10. But FM 5 is a 10 out of 10 for me.

Re: Forza 5
Dan, I think you'd enjoy FM5. The Drivatar system is brilliant - every race is like being in a fairly well-behaved online session - and the assists can all be set independently of each other, so you don't necessarily have to be a petrolhead to enjoy it. There are options to tune and upgrade your cars but you can just ask the game to do it for you; you're not required to know a conrod from a conman at any point and the racing is always, always fun.
Something else that makes a massive difference is the rumble through the triggers on the pad. PK and Terry told me about it when I was pondering my XBOne purchase but I didn't appreciate how much more engaging Forza is as a result until I played it. Forza's braking model in particular has always been difficult to get along with but now, you can really feel how your car is responding to your inputs. It takes a lot of guesswork away and makes the business of driving more fun and intuitive.
Having said that, Horizon 2 is a stunning piece of work. They're as different as two games under the same banner could ever reasonably be but you can't go wrong with either of them.

Re: Forza 5
I own both. I prefer FH2, but as PK said, the Drivatar and other cool score chasing implementations make Forza 5 really engaging. Hell, I may saw p out and try racing on Forza 5 for awhile just to change it up.
I think one of the keys is to make sure you increase the Drivatar difficulty so that you don't face a bunch of guys that play bumper cars. When you do that, the Drivatars make solo mode feel like you are racing real people, but still good enough not to ruin the racing.
Honestly, they are a perfect pairing of racers. For some, one or the other is all they need. But if having a sim and an arcade racer is something you want, it's nice to have two games with so much in common, but still have completely different feels.

Re: Forza 5
Thanks guys. I picked it up this evening. Looking forward to have that nice mix of racing on the Xbox One with this along with FH2. Wish I had the money for a wheel, but I really love the Xbox One controller for racing games compared to the PS4 controller.
Re: Forza 5
Just curious..... do you guys tune and upgrade manually, or are you lazy like me and do quick upgrades?
