That's a great idea, but one that would probably be difficult to coordinate over just a few days. We could take a stab at it and see how far we'd be able to structure it. I've thought about maybe trying to get a shotgun start one evening, where everyone mustered at the given course and we went off in groups of two or three, back to back. I'd like to read some more thoughts on this.Jimmydeicide wrote:I have an idea but in our crazy scheduled lives its a stretch but id like to set up a tournament, 1 event where we get a list of players up front and then we draw pairings for the first round and play that round together with that player. After that the pairings are then score based. We could even set up a party and stagger tee times and to stop people from playing thru the first group![]()
Would take some effort on our part and maybe just a 2 day tourney over 1 evening but i think this would be a fun project.

There's an interesting "Tour" taking place on the PS4 version of TGC at the moment. Chris Bird messaged me to let me know he'd created 4 'versions' of his latest course - Windsor County. It's the same course but he's got a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday pin position which the only difference in each course. He's created a 4 event "Tour", but it winds up playing like a 72 hole tournament, with the beauty being, each round has a different pin placement.
I played the first round, and there were four other players in it at the time, including TimberPete from OS. I'd rage the course about a "7", and that will probably vary depending on the pin placement. There were two borderline pin placements in the Thursday course, but it's a pretty decent give and take course. It uses the Boreal theme quite well. Anyway, I thought some of you might be interested in playing this as it's not much of an investment to play it, plus it gives you the flavor of what 4 round tournament with each round having unique pin placement for each round would be like. Eventually, HBS is going to have to figure out a way to make something like this possible in an extended tour.
The "Tour" is called "Windsor County". I've got round one under my belt and I didn't exactly tear it up... drowned a ball and flubbed a bunker flop shot. The scoring so far is very realistic; I won't spoil the surprise for those of you who may try and it and want to maintain the fog of war

Just finished Pinehurst #2 with a +15 and one thing I was consistent at, was being inconsistent at #17 par three hole. No matter what, and being watchful of the wind I would overshoot the flag and boy does the downhill putt fly on you from there. Shooting a 68 was my best score in the third round, off to the next course.
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Round 2 at pinehurst. Somewhere on the back 9 I lost the ability to slowly bring the putter back. It would stop as if hitting a wall and thus all my putts were only a few feet in length ( like 10 feet when faced with a 30 footer). Thus I quickly went to 10 over for the round. Frustrating.

Finished out the DSP tour earlier tonight, slowly got better with the putting after each round but still probably left at least 3 putts on every round that stopped short at the lip of the cup. Hope they patch the settings so they save once and for all, had the cameras set perfectly where I wanted them for a few rounds and then they too reset along with the turning off of the blurred background graphics.

I refuse to play 4 rounds at sahalee , what a piece of s*** course and in 17mph winds no less pathetic. How can we go from a great course like westchester to this pile of dog s***.

It belongs in tiger fantasy courses only thing missing is a ship on the 18th.
It just bugs me that its unrealistically hard , if it was a real course no one would ever play it. Its just not golf to me like playing in a tunnel. bleh.
I was under par when i made the first comment by the way its not because i was sucking but i did blow up after i made the statement
, probably because i lost interest a bit and that will cost you in this game.

Through one round there Merace and I are both under par. I hadn't played it prior to your post and was therefore pretty scared!

It is a real course and a fairly accurate replica from what I remember when I played it also on PGA Championship Golf 2000. IMHO, it's one of the most realistic looking and playing courses in TGC.Jimmydeicide wrote:It belongs in tiger fantasy courses only thing missing is a ship on the 18th.![]()

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Something pretty bizarre happened with the XB1 version of Sahalee. It's got trees out of place on multiple holes. It looks and plays quite a bit different than it does on the PS4. I'll have to play the PC version to see how it stacks up, but I was shocked at how borqued it is on the XB1. I've seen this happen before with a few other courses, where you'd have missing fairways, added/missing trees, pin placements on fairways, etc. in versions other than the platform on which the course was created.
I like the PS4 version of Sahalee, but I wouldn't opt to play it again on the XB1, once my time there is done with this tour. I shouldn't complain because I shot a -6 in round one, but it just felt a bit goofy at times.

This business about settings not really reflecting what is shown on the settings panel has happened before with the PC version. Vsync would show that it was ON when it really was OFF. You'd have to go in at the beginning of each new round and toggle it OFF to ON, if you wanted it to really be on (I always leave it OFF because I'm paranoid that it's going to put a clamp on higher frame rates).vader29 wrote:Hope they patch the settings so they save once and for all, had the cameras set perfectly where I wanted them for a few rounds and then they too reset along with the turning off of the blurred background graphics.
When I play now, the first thing I do on the first tee is go into the settings menu and toggle "Depth of Field" OFF and back ON. It shows that it's ON when you go into the menu, but the blurred graphics tell your eyes a different story. HBS is fully aware of this and I'm 100% confident it will be fixed in the December update.
I have not experienced a problem you're describing with the cameras resetting. Has that happened more than once?

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Just played the finest 4 rounds of my TGC career. Playing a Tour and Tournament using no grids. The names of the events are NO GRID_Course Played for Tournaments and NO GRID_Month for the TOUR. Just played the Tournament at Royal Montreal and shot a -9 for 4 rounds. I know many of you don't care for NO GRID play, but these 4 rounds were extremely satisfying with a number of "fist pump" moments. It truly forces you to use course management as fairways and greens are the priority. There are enough camera angles on the green to read putts, but the key is to see how you ball reacts when landing on the green as well as using the camera behind the hole to see what the slope is around the cup. You can read the slope close to the hole and anything over 10 feet is a challenge just like IRL putting. If any of you are interested in this kind of play, give it a shot as the scoring is very much PGA TOUR like.
Played my first round of the November TOUR event and shot a +1. Had a -2 going to 16, and hit my tee shot to the par 3 short and ended up in the water and settled for a +2 on the hole and +1 for the event, tied for first......so far, THIS is my videogame Golf nirvana......

Sounds challenging Divot, was wondering what camera angle you use for putting. Wasn't aware of the no grids tournaments but I do remember back in our TW tourneys, some of the most satisfying moments for sinking a putt was during under those conditions.

I think my default is putt cam 3. However, I use all of them in no grid rounds by pressing the stick opposite the swing stick and utilizing the cam behind the hole by pressing the B button.10spro wrote:Sounds challenging Divot, was wondering what camera angle you use for putting. Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
Just finished the 12 round Monthly NO GRID Tour and shot -33 for 12 rounds and I may have won the thing. Closest player to me was -25. The last DSP Tour I shot something like -121 for 5 or 6 events so the scoring in this NO GRID TOUR is very realistic which is always important to me. I realize many here don't prefer that kind of play, but if you do, please join in....

Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
If you're a PS4 owner and are slightly interested in this game, it's on sale through 12/22 for $24.49, or $20.99 for anyone with PS Plus. With Update #2 due to release by early next week (the XB1 version update has already been approved and the PC version update is ready to go... HBS is waiting on Sony so they can release the updates simultaneously), this would be a good time to pick the game up. The word is that the most recent optimization has almost doubled the frame rates on the consoles, on some of the more problematic courses!
Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
The Xbox One update is out, nice to not have to go into settings anymore before each round to turn depth of field off.

Didn't notice any graphical improvements but I thought it looked good before as long as you turned the depth of field off, they added 2 new official courses and a handicap system where once you play 5 rounds you get a handicap score.Gangrel wrote:Any more performance or graphic improvements? Re: HB Studios Next-Gen golf game: The Golf Club
I picked it up for the PC as well, played 3 rounds.
Short game is ridiculously bad if you get between a lob and a chip distance wise. Long putts uphill seem wonky to me as well, I literally have to add a ton of distance to even get it close to the hole.
Other than that very fun.

So I just finished the Christmas 4 round tournament at Flin Flon with handicap scores, ended up tied for 4th with 54 participants so far, still don't understand how someone gets a ridiculous score of -24 with handicaps?
