2014-15 DSP Poker Night thread

Post by pk500 »

Boys:

I'm getting the vibe that more DSP guys are gathering for online gaming. I don't think we'll ever return to the halcyon days of early XBL from 2002-05, but it's heartening to see us getting together more often to play.

I thought it would be easier -- and happier for DB :P -- for us to post our virtual classified ads and responses for Poker Nights in one thread instead of a bunch of separate threads.

Hope this helps. So who's up for some more Titanfall or Horizon 2 tonight? (Wednesday, Nov. 5)

OTH, did Ice Dragons need this particular thread for the past two seasons if the Ramjerk did NOT screw up NHL 15 for the current gen?

The best turnouts require a schedule and committment. For example, Saturday nights was NHL here until the EA fiasco. Wednesday GTA night had a decent turnout for a few months. I know everyone has busy lives, but I am willing to reserve a couple of nights a week for gaming if I know when those nights are.

We had one big Forza Horizon 2 group a few weeks back on Saturday night. If NHL is out, then why not make FH2 the Saturday game since its most popular (I think everyone here owns it).

As for a shooter night, I have most of them. Titanfall seems to be the most popular. Again, I'd suggest picking a regular night, starting time and game. Any night works for me. One night a week I could stay up later for some gaming with friends.

Big fun last night in Titanfall with Terry and Scoop. We blew up a bit of sh*t, eh, fellas? Can't believe we finished that first co-op map on our maiden try. We got whacked on the second map! :)

Titanfall RULES.

Then don't use it. I don't give a sh*t. Just trying to encourage more online play among DSPers.

I haven't played Titanfall in months. I decided to pop it in and dl the season pass since it is so cheap right now and as PK said ended up playing with him and Terry. That was a ton of fun. Now if I could only find my headset... Anyways, Titanfall is a great time and the new mode we were playing last night is awesome.

Yeah, that was a blast. I hadn't played TF before, but it was fun coordinating to try to clear those waves. Not sure how we're supposed to take out 5 Nuke Titans at once, though 8O

I could see how that would be fun with a full 4 person team of DSP guys, rather than one random.

Easy big fella, Just saying new threads call it out more. For instance i could of played last night but had no idea anything was going on. There was no post in here about getting together.

That's why I suggested setting up some regular weekly game nights for a couple of games. You guys did well with NHL on Saturdays, so why not plan to play the most popular game there.

Well, if "DSP Poker Night Thread" isn't enough of a call-out, I'll rename the thread to "FREE WEED AND STRIPPERS NIGHTLY." That will work. :)

The idea behind the single thread is for people to check it during the day to see if anyone is gathering a group. One-stop shopping. I don't understand why that's complicated or inconvenient. It's the same concept as the DEAL ALERT or FOR SALE thread. Instead of cluttering the forum with separate listings of deals or items for sale, everything goes in one thread.

But Pete's ideas for anchored nights is good, too.

Scoop, feel free to delete this thread if it's too complicated or anonymous for Poker Night assembly. Seriously.

That is a thread I can get behind. :)

Also no reason to delete it for me, lets try it. I don't control this board if it works great, even better if the subscribe to thread / email worked that would be great.

EDIT: Seriously don't delete this I was just commenting. Sorry I'm on edge trying to distract myself because my 11 year old daughter is having surgery.

Yes. Every friday and saturday night but one for around a year and a half is pretty good. We didnt need to set it up for the last 15-16 months. We just showed up. It was nice to know that there was always a game.

I cant thank EA enough for ruining it.

Thank you, she is resting ok now. It's her 2nd surgery in 10 days to repair her finger which was dislocated and also had a displaced fracture. She is going to have a pin sticking out of it for the next 4 to 6 weeks. She is upset going to miss 6 more weeks of basketball.
