Re: Destiny
Not to keep defending the game because it definitely has issues but it sounds like a lot of people that hate the game got it not realizing it was an MMO at heart.
Re: Destiny
Yeah--my problem is MMOs usually have a much higher level cap and not such an obvious grind-slog. You have a lot of place to do things, and from the very first mission to the very last story mission in Destiny is about 1/50th of what an MMO normally launches with.
Personally, I'm not a player that will grind the same 5 missions 300 times to find that one drop in order to run a Strike with a bunch of randoms, so it's sort of out of my rotation for now. I go back and dabble with it from time to time, but I'm definitely waiting on the bigger updates to come along and throw new stuff to do that doesn't require a light level 28 toon to run. Raise the traditional level cap, give a lot more gear variations--things like that would go a long way to satisfying the average MMO gamer.

Re: Destiny
I think there's maybe a little more there than you are giving it credit for but yeah fair points for sure. Unfortunately the upcoming expansion looks pretty light on content.

All good points, Aristo. I think I'm sailing in the same dinghy as you.Aristo wrote:There are far better options for me, both single player and multiplayer.
What are your better options? I'm curious, as you may unearth a gem for me.
Thanks!

I fired this up about a week ago, as I hadn't played it in quite some time. Didn't play long before I turned it off. Just not into it. Then I realized...I do the same damn thing with Halo games...lol. You'd think I'd learn. Wish I'd have put that money on Titanfall instead. Oh well.

Re: Destiny
Trade it in and get a used copy of Titanfall. I know your kind of shooter, Teal, and you won't regret that swap-purchase for one millisecond, dude.Teal wrote:I fired this up about a week ago, as I hadn't played it in quite some time. Titanfall is your MP option.pk500 wrote:All good points, Aristo. I think I'm sailing in the same dinghy as you.Aristo wrote:There are far better options for me, both single player and multiplayer.

If you can find a good deal on Wolfenstein, it is a flat out fantastic single player experience. Get the disc, beat the game, sell the disc. There is no MP. But it is just a fantastic old school shooter that gets all the right benefits from next gen. It might be worth the $60, but you should be able to find it cheaper.
I love Halo. So the MCC will fulfill both single player and MP for me for some time. But if Halo is not your thing, then it is not your thing.
Another single player game that is supposed to be great, but I have not touched is the Metro Games. They are remasters from last gen, but released together. But in the digital store, you can also buy each game separately for just $25 each. They might be worth looking at.

Would love to. But I went digital for this one. Sigh...pk500 wrote:Trade it in and get a used copy of Titanfall. Re: Destiny
Thanks for the tips, Aristo. I've had my eye on Wolfenstein for a while. Thanks for reaffirmation and for the knowledge there is no MP. That's not a deterrent if the single-player game is strong.

Re: Destiny
I'll second the Wolfenstein recommendation. Not trigger fast like COD, but a good methodical, stealthy shooter. Instead of accruing XP points you get cool perks to add in your arsenal.pk500 wrote:Thanks for the tips, Aristo. I've had my eye on Wolfenstein for a while. There's also some GTA V game coming up?
Re: Destiny
I downloaded this since it was offered free. My first FPS in maybe 10 years. I somewhat enjoyed it. One thing the game didnt make me motion sick as most FPS games do. I may end up buying the full version now. Only played single player, no idea how to play w/ others. but i'm having a good time with single player now. Not sure why I like it. Maybe because it's been so long I played a FPS.
