Re: OT: Evolve
Tried to get into a game last night. Gave up after swirling in cyber purgatory for 10 minutes.

Re: OT: Evolve
I was finally able to get into a round and I was still very confused without any tutorial. But even with all the confusion I'm able to tell that this game has HUGE potential if and when you can play it with a solid group. Will be a day 1 purchase for me.

I got a small tutorial on the class (support) I was playing. I liked what little I've played so far.Spooky wrote:I was finally able to get into a round and I was still very confused without any tutorial. I got an email today from Evolve Big Alpha. They want players online at 4pm ET for a server stress test.

Re: OT: Evolve
I got a three more full games in this afternoon. Servers are better. It still takes a while to get the game started, like Titanfall.
Each game played out the same: The four hunters chasing the monster running around the map, not getting quite close enough for much combat. After 10 minutes of chasing and not much else, the monster levels up enough to turn around and take out the hunters and/or the objective. Monster wins.
Maybe with a better coordinated team the hunters could fare better? But it just seems like the maps are too big for the monster to get lost in and the hunters are not fast enough to keep up.

This doesn't sound like a proper replacement for Left 4 Dead...at all. I'm bored just reading the impressions...

Re: OT: Evolve
I was able to get in a game last night and was there from the beginning instead of taking over a bot. The game did at least provide me with a short video for my character telling me which each weapon does. I had more fun since I felt like I knew a little more of what to do. Still found it hard to find the monster but we did end up killing it. My minute contribution probably did not do much.
I'll have to watch the video above to see if I can learn more. The game really does seem like it will be a lot of fun once I know all of the controls and intricacies of the game.
I am a patient boy.

Re: OT: Evolve
I'm keeping in mind this was an Alpha, and the main purpose was probably testing net connectivity. However after playing a dozen or so matches I had no desire to play anymore. This went from top 5 anticipated game to the beta better show me something. I don't think this will have pure co-op missions like L4 Dead and I think that is a mistake.Teal wrote:This doesn't sound like a proper replacement for Left 4 Dead...at all. Re: OT: Evolve
Playing with randoms using no communication is awful (unless you are the monster maybe?) If there were four guys I knew on XB1 who would show up and play Evolve on a regular basis I would consider keeping my preorder.
