OT: Evolve

I searched a few times and couldn't believe we didn't have a thread on this, only mentions in the E3 and XBox vs. PS4 thread.

So with the Alpha starting today (THANK YOU 10S!!), anybody planning on dipping into this today/tonight?

It would be a freaking blast to get 5 of us together and get those first experiences with friends in...assuming they actually let you make private rooms or play with buddies. If it's just a randoms-only thing, I guess this whole post can be disregarded.

But if we can play with friends...I don't care what time as long as it's past 7ET--anybody else in?

I haven't downloaded it yet for the XB1 but have for the PC. I'll start the download when I get home.

I wish I could initiate the download from the web. i.e. it would start my XB1 and then download for me.

Would love to play with some DSP folk. I have it installed and ready to go. Just played a very quick match to check it out but I didn't look to see if we can do any private matches.

Looks like tonight is the only night that I could try the Alpha due to travels, I'll see who's still around after the hockey game with the Habs.

BTW, I didn't realized that they gave me 4 codes so I still have one left for anyone interested.

There's an "Invite Friends" option from the menu, so we should be good.

Played a quick match and I can see how fun it would be with friends. Nobody in the hunter group communicated, so by the time I found the monster and tagged it (I was the Medic, even though that was last on my priority list, fun!), 2 guys were off on their own, 1 guy was sorta near me and nobody was close enough to try to get to it.

The monster player leveled up to 3 and of course those other 2 guys were out who knows where and engaged it, and since I was the medic, I couldn't even reach them until they were almost dead.

Monster wiped us out pretty quickly, but I bet in a party of 5 it would be a blast.

How big was the download? I'm trying to determine the odds I can talk my wife through starting it on the phone.

I'm pretty sure he can say Xbox On but the code part....sigh

If you console is set to Instant On, which it would have to be to use Xbox On, then you can redeem your code online at xbox.com. Just login, manage your account, and it is an option. That should get the game downloaded.

Alpha was not working for me last night. I got stuck on the loading screen when I tried to join a game alone or with a friend.

I was able to play one game but it was more like I participated. I had no clue what I was doing. Some sort of tutorial would have been nice. It seems like it could be a really great game if I knew what was going on.

So I didn't see anyone online last night and when I started the Alpha it said my NAT was set to strict which would make it hard to find games. I really don't think it is and there is no option in my router to change it because it is the Uverse POS.

I also couldn't join a game, just spun and spun and spun. It was so late at that point that I didn't even try the PC

Totally unrelated but Terry I think you removed me from your friends list because I don't see your GT in my list anymore

This is exactly the feeling I had. Looked great, but I didn't feel involved.

At times it felt like I was spending more time searching for players than actually playing the game. But when I did managed to connect I was able to play a good solid hour and change. Obviously communication and sticking close to each other is key to survival. In the beginning the hunters were having a picnic beating the monster in matches that would last only five minutes and I thought 'Boy that was easy'.

But then things started to get really interested when we couldn't locate the bad creature or he would escape and kill a few teammates creating some tension matches. In those hide and seek session that lasted around 20 minutes is where I had the most fun and thought definitely this would be great played among 4-5 of us.

Level up as a medic where you have three weapons and have to use each one wisely according to the situation. I was just stuck a couple of times trying to get out of those carnivorous plants as you're getting chewed alive.

There's supposed to be more added modes in the final release, but overall if you can be patient searching for matches, there's some cool matches and hopefully good teammates to play with.

I have an Xbox One Alpha code if anyone here wants it, checked out a video of the game and saw it was a first person shooter and those just don't work for me.

My wife and daughter and heading out of town at 6am tomorrow. I'm looking forward to a couple of days of football and video games. Hopefully we can get some guys together and give Evolve a look. Otherwise, it is a lot of Forizon 2, Madden, and NBA 2K15. I might as well check out the new titanfall Horde mode, too.

So same issue with the PC version I tell it to find me a game with no class preference thing searched for 20 minutes before I shut it off.
