I know, it's a trip. I haven't seen her all excited to play something in a long time. She was pretty into Diablo 3 when that first released on 360, and she played a little when the PS4 version released, but I couldn't get her back "into" it, almost like she's burned out on the game itself. Of course she hasn't gotten to adventure mode or anything else yet, so it seems familiar to her.

But with Destiny, she'd been eyeballing it while I was playing and suddenly wanted to try it. Now we've been TRYING to play since it came out, but it wasn't until yesterday that she actually got to play for a while. That opened Pandora's Box, because there's very few things on this Earth I'd get up at 5AM for.

That was one of them.

Did the get the 360 version and get the One version free. Was able to play a little and it is very cool. I never played the beta so this was all new to me.

The Crucible (MP) is damn fun. I just played a round of Clash (Team DM) and it's quick and fun. Control is great too. Gotta level up!

I love the Patrol missions....those are great and really add to the game. This is quickly becoming my favorite game of all time.

Yeah, it's been bad timing for me as well. Getting up earlier than usual, gotta go on long a trip again mid week, it's still under wraps on the PS4, haven't touched much Madden or NHL and Fifa is coming. The odd HB golf course. Where's the time gone?

What are the missions that open up to allow you to go in matchmaking and try your hand at taking on bosses? Just opened them, and yeah...not so much. Holy SH*T, those are hard!

Dammit all, I'm hooked. I've always played Halo, but never long. This is just so damned cool...and yeah, beautiful. Even the 360 version is just about the best looking game on this console I've ever seen. Right on about Venus (haven't gone to Mars yet). Wow.

I've never been a huge shooter fan, mostly cause I suck, but I'll admit I bought this game on 90% hype and 10% because I have a couple buddies playing it. I've also never played an MMO, and RPG's scare the hell out of me - too much to keep track of. That said, I am really enjoying this mash-up of genres. I haven't seen Mars or Venus yet, so I can't comment on those parts of the game, but the Earth and Moon missions have had a great blend of tension and fun. It didn't take long for me to learn that the combat is cover-shoot-retreat-cover-shoot-repeat, but it's fun. As long as there is always a safe place to run to in the "back" of the level, I should be able to survive. :) I'm only up to level 8, but each new weapon is fun, and the choices of weapons to buy or receive as rewards are interesting.

As a traditional solo gamer, I'm surprised at how much I like the co-op missions. I think it's because I don't have to worry about using a mic or feeling like coordination is needed to succeed. I have little interest in listening to someone give me orders, etc. Last night was my first fireteam boss mission that took about an hour to complete. The randoms I was were competent, so I took up flanking positions on the bad guys, and it worked great. Fun stuff. It seemed as if we had unlimited re-spawns though, but I don't think we were ever all dead at the same time, so maybe that would have been game over for the level?

Not sure how long it'll keep my attention in the long run, but so far so good.

I know, it's just funny. My wife and I have been playing a ton, but obviously at a slower pace since she had never used a controller to attempt to aim or play a shooter before. We clunked to about level 15 so far on PS4, but I never see anybody on there, naturally.

So I hop on the XBox One when she goes to bed, and there's nobody on there, either. I did see one invite once (from somebody, I forget who), but with as little as I use the XB1's interface, I could not for the life of me figure out where that invite went. It wasn't under messages, not recent activity, not friends, or party. When I'd get an invite on 360, it was an easy to find message. I looked around for probably 5 minutes for that invite but never did find it--that's another issue entirely, I guess.

The only constant is I always see "Teal 03 - Online in Destiny on Xbox 360".

So I figured wtf, I'll fire up the 360 version at lunch and start slogging through that...no matter what, I seem to be running solo unless my wife is playing.

Yeah, that's one issue it has. If you're not near the same level, one guy's just watching while the other does all the work. Would love to have a "regular" 3-man fireteam on to run through content with. Them limiting any account to 3 characters is tough to play with friends, though. Can't keep a character at the same level as a buddy unless you don't play it. And with only 3 slots, you can't have specific characters to play with specific buddies like you normally can in an MMO.

Love the game. Probably won't be on tonight due to the Eagles game (well I guess I could snap the tv and play Destiny but I need full focus on the Birds game:)). Definitely will be playing tomorrow though.

It would be in "Notifications." You can just say "Xbox, go to Notifications" if you have Kinect and it would be right there. On Xbone, "Messages" are now solely for actual messages.

I'm probably missing something but how the hell do you join a random fireteam? I'm typically a single player guy and don't have a lot of XBL friends with the game. I read somewhere to change my settings for Destiny to 'public' which I did but I still can't figure it out beyond that.

I don't use the Kinect, but thanks Zeppo. Was looking for something like Notifications and couldn't find anything, but it's probably some tile in settings that I will have to pin.

And Bakes, you can't join random fireteams except for Strikes. Then it will automatically perform matchmaking when you press Launch. For anything else, you have to join a fireteam on your friends list or click the Right Stick and invite/join fireteam with toons you see in the world.

Notifications are accessed via the small icon (circle in square) on the upper left corner of the home screen.

I haven't had a lot of time to play but I'm stuck on like the 3rd or 4th mission in the boss stage. I need some more people to help me pass this, I don't think it is possible solo with the amount of enemies coming at me.

It's possible. I finished the main campaign today, and did nearly the whole thing alone. Gotta be a little inventive at times, but it can be done. Would love to go back through it all with another character and do the whole thing co-op, but I'm not holding my breath... :D

I'll help you, Dan. Just let me know when. I passed all of them missions up to Mars solo, though--so it's definitely possible. Just takes some work and the mentality to retreat when you're getting blasted, then regroup and fire away. :P
