Interesting image below which is a hands on of Fifa 2005 where the Official PS UK mag claims the game is now better then PES3.
Normaly I would not even start a thread like this if not for the following.
This same magazine gave PES3 a perfect 10/10 last year (PS2 version) and only an 8/10 for Fifa 2004.
Image was pretty large so I linked it.

Fifa 2005 Pre Season Hype paid for by EA or is there hope?

Give me a break:
1. 8/10 for the utter crap that was FIFA 2004. Any legitimacy they had went out the window right there.
2. Looking at the screenshots it's the same freakin' engine as always. Every year we hear the same "it's totally different this time, trust us" and every year it's apparent that the engine they're using is f***ed.
3. How do I get EA to send me a check for a preview?

Official UK PS2 Mag goes mad about FIFA every year. If I recall, their cover mounted FIFA 2003 demo was hailed as a chance to play the game that had PES running scared, or something along those lines. I guess their demo wasn't the same as mine - much as I like the FIFA series, it's still miles away from taking on Konami.
Read as little into OPS2M's words as you possibly can, lads.
Cheers,
Adam

Same freaking engine or some player models? I think there's a HUGE difference between the two. One you can discern from a screen shot and one you cannot. You simply can tell how the game is going to play by a simple screen shot.
Also, they said eventually it may be better than PES, not necessarily that it is right now.

List of things that simply won't happen in our lifetimes:
1. Man will walk on Pluto.
2. Britney Spears will become the next Beverly Sills, the diva of the Metropolitan Opera.
3. I will dunk a basketball without the aid of a lowered rim or a chair.
4. FIFA will have superior gameplay and be a better overall soccer game than Konami's Winning Eleven or PES.
Konami is so far ahead in the soccer derby that there's absolutely NO WAY EA can catch up in one year. FIFA 2004 was utter sh*t, and unless Lazarus is a programmer at EA Sports, the franchise won't rise from the dead with FIFA 2005.
Take care,
PK

From the list of untrustworthy sources...
EGM had a blurb about EA's Euro 2004 that compared it favorably to WE7. It gave WE the nod, but named Euro 2004 as a valid comparison! I don't know about that! I can't imagine that Euro 2004 is anything but FIFA 2004 with a slightly altered license and a couple of gameplay tweaks (much like the World Cup 2002 edition). I've played both FIFA and WE7 this year, and frankly, FIFA is no WE (to state the obvious)...

Yea I missed that part, good catch. Also, they said eventually it may be better than PES, not necessarily that it is right now.
Thanks for the perspective from GB_Simo since you are in the UK. I am not anti Fifa and am hoping for the best, as it still looks like it will be the only soccer game that Xbox owners can play online here in the US. Until Konami says it is officially showing up here I will just have to get PES4 for the PC.
