ya this time around the XB1 version looks much better than PS4. Usually its opposite.
The cool thing is i have to relearn how to play EA hockey. Last gen stuff doesn't work.
Sure the game is broken in some parts but it has some quirkyness and the game is fun to play.
It reminds me of one of those early 2k Hockey games last gen.
So far it's been fun and a new learning experience.

Disagree. Xb1 version is just more color accentuated. Ps4 looks more realistic. Guess it depends what you prefer but in this matchup it's pretty even.
Yeah, I noticed it in the demos for both consoles. The color palette seem brighter on the X1 and slightly grayish, cloudy if you will but not as bad as he makes it sound on the PS4.
Still, such a half assed effort for this title, all I have been playing is HUT and Play Now modes, one can only wait for the patches to arrive.
Played some 1v1 online and getting terrific games. Most fun I've had online in a long time.
Also doing some play now default and all my games have been shootouts. I score like 6 goals a game so will have to up the difficulty.
Maybe it's my tv but it doesnt look as good as XB1 at times. I think 10s right about the 'cloudy' look on XB1 which maybe brightens things up compared to PS4. I got use to it now so no big deal.

Exact same in Madden. Blacks jerseys in Madden look black on XB1 but dark gray on PS4, with a washed out appearance. Every XB1 game I've compared to a PS4 game has a much richer color palette and deeper blacks than the PS4 version.

Guess they can get away with that, since it's half the resolution.

Thats the point.
I will not finish my six hours. blah blah f***in blah its the same f***in game with half the modes.
Rammer - take note of the Fifa demo, this is how a game on PS4 is supposed to look like! Damn what a beautiful game! I can't wait for the full version. I just hit pause sometimes just to look at the auto replays.
Same old NHL in the online one versus one games. Home team going into the third will always always always get the advantage and get cheap goals. Just dominated a guy for two and 3/4 periods until the last two minutes…two cheap goals…Game over. Can't tell you how many times that is happened to me in the last three years. Joke.

i think you may have played me. but i disagree. i blew a 3-0 lead at home. what system are you on? I remember last year I played you and the cpu screwed you big time. you even scored a goal in shootout that for some reason didn't count.
added - just got notified in the game there was a gameplay update.
Loving this game, it has the 'one more game' feel, can't put it down!
The more I play this game, the more it bothers me. I've played about 20 games or so online, and the gameplay balance between offense and defense is way off.
Mainly, stickhandling straight at a defender is way way overpowered. There are a few reasons for this.
-puck carriers skating forwards can cut and accelerate much more responsively than defenders skating backwards. One false step on defense and your dman is completely out of the play, while a forward with the puck can dramatically change directions over and over.
-Stickhandling is pretty sticky, much more so than passing. The bigger problem however, is that while you can poke check fairly aggressively, you rarely knock the park away. Normally the puck handler momentarily loses possession, but then is in a better position than the defender to scoop the puck back up and blow right past the defender. Most goals I yield to ridiculous dangles come as the puck carrier is 'successfully' poke checked multiple times in the sequence but he just keeps plowing forward and regaining possession.
-every skater on the ice can cut and dangle like pavel datsyuk. There is almost no distinguishing players.
-There is no penalty to over dangling. The ability to strip away the puck at center ice and be gone the other way (which I lived for in EASHL) is completely gone. Again, you can temporarily dispossess the puck carrier, but you won't scoop up the puck even it's sitting there loose. You can occasionally strip a guy from behind even if he has a step on you and the puck is on the side of his body, which makes the puck possession system even more baffling.
At this point holding the puck and dangling through the defense is the only way to be successful online. A defense can't hold you off repeatedly when you do so, and if you are being harassed by a defender it's best, it's best to continue charging forward holding the puck. If you try to pass it off to a teammate, the puck handling stick bonus is gone and the puck will bounce away.
Another thing is that the slap at loose puck is unusable in this game. it was awkward at times last year, but this year it is completely trashed. It just adds to the never-pass-always-hold-puck style of gameplay.
Thanks for the opinions, Naples. I'm growing doubtful that EA will be able to sort out the seeming many issues with this transition to next-gen. Shame, really. I remember discussing with you club guys the hope that they just don't **** it up, but it seems that's exactly what they've done

Pretty sad.
This game is the very definition of failure and on every level.
Looks like someone on OS fixed the washed out look of the game on PS4.
There's some display setting where you turn the RGB setting from Automatic to Full.
Basically this causes the PS4 to become XB1 color scheme.
I tried it and it pretty much true - my colors are really contrasted and vibrant, whereas the black color is really really black. Looks like a totally different game on PS4 now. But I won't leave it like that since all my other PS4 games look great and don't require any color adjustment like NHL does.
I'm enjoying the game for what it is.. I'm just dumbfounded on what they spent those 2 years on?
In BeaGM, stats displayed are like it's the first game of the season.. no league leaders shown during a game or yearly power play %. It's just a really bare bones BeaGM mode and with all the missing modes one would think BeaGM would really be beefed up.

They did not spend two years on the game. What they also didn't do was spend 6 months on NHL 14, and and 6 months on next gen NHL 14. What they did do was spend one year building a game from scratch, the unfinished next gen NHL 15, and porting over NHL 14 to last gen NHL 15. It's not ideal, and for all I know the devs are incompetents because they didn't get the game done. But they got the most important parts done.
I bought it and am enjoying it for what it is, too. If they had released a half-assed version of EASHL and OTP, they would have sold a ton more copies, and people would have actually been ripped off. As it is, a ton of people had the option of just not buying a game that lacked a feature they wanted.
