Listening to Dan Hampton break down Cutler just now on local tv was classic.
Re: The NFL 2014-2015
Ha, Vader, that is priceless. The only thing better would have been if the airbag had deployed mid-rant.
Re: The NFL 2014-2015
I have never been thankful for a preseason beatdown until this year, because the Seahawks thumping the Bears starters took the hype out of my sails before the season started and they s*** the bed at home. The defense still looks as soft as cheese left in the sun, Cutler is the bastard child of Brett Favre and Rex Grossman, and our coach was outcoached by Doug Marrone. Now they get to travel to San Fran to face a Niners team trying to qualify for the California Penal League. At least they can have the team dinner and Lance Briggs's new restaurant.
Re: The NFL 2014-2015
I knew we were getting Jared Allen in his decline phase, but he took his job of replacing Julius Peppers a bit too literally.
I wasn't surprised to see the Bills defense, which is a bona fide NFL-quality bunch, give us some fits, but the horror of seeing the D just ripped apart on the ground again despite the off-season's efforts...that just sucked.
Also, the patchwork OL can't afford those injuries. That Cutler INT to the DL
but Martellus rightfully took the hit for the first where he ran the wrong route. It looked at times like Cutler was the only guy who knew the playbook, which is pretty astounding for the second year of a system.
All in all it was just this side of spending 3 hours with food poisoning.

Re: The NFL 2014-2015
You whiny Bears fans have no idea what it's really like being miserable. Unless you're a Raiders fan, you don't know what ZERO RUSHING YARDS looks like. The Raiders finished with 25 yards on 15 carries---more than half of which came on one run in the 4th quarter with the game already decided. Meanwhile, they give up more than 200.
All the changes in the world and still the same stuff I've seen for a decade. You guys complain about a bad season here or there. Raiders fans watch entire generations grow up without fielding a competent football team. My daughter got to Junior High this year, and the last time the Raiders were good, she was an infant.
Get some perspective with the food poisoning crap!!!

Fred Jackson b*tch slapped that Bears safety pretty bad.
Re: The NFL 2014-2015
The Ray Rice video was posted on TMZ. The NFL totally botched that 100%. The dude should either have been suspended 1 year or he should be in jail. What a piece of crap.
Re: The NFL 2014-2015
I agree and why did the video just come out now? There's no way that the league missed it and the suspension should be reviewed. Not even the most hardcore Raven fan would stomach seeing this coward on the field.Rodster wrote:The Ray Rice video was posted on TMZ. The NFL totally botched that 100%. Re: The NFL 2014-2015
The league was pretty clear this morning that they hadn't seen that video before, that only law enforcement had it. If that's true, then he should be immediately suspended much longer, as mentioned before. Their new domestic violence policy even leaves wiggle room for circumstances, and these should merit a much longer punishment.
The bigger question I have is what the hell is wrong with our country's legal system (No offense, Rob!)? How the hell can somebody get off when there's evidence like that in play?

He should be kicked out of the NFL, period.
Re: The NFL 2014-2015
ESPN's Adam Schefter said in an interview today that several individuals in the NFL had seen that video prior to his suspension. As he said the question is WHO? If it's Goodell, he's a bigger piece of sh*t and should resign as Commish.TCrouch wrote:The league was pretty clear this morning that they hadn't seen that video before, that only law enforcement had it. I'm a quarter of the way to winning a nice chunk of change. I said a month ago the Bears would start 0-4 and several people wanted to bet me. The only game i had concerns about was yesterday. I mean you lost to the f***in Bills, the Bills! S.F. might be a massacre.

Hand clap, the Ravens did the right thing and Goodell still sucks for his two game suspension.

We'd all be more sympathetic if that organization wasn't getting justifiable karmic payback for inflicting Al Davis on the world. I don't think they had any choice after today's video surfaced. Wonder if any team will even consider signing him.dbdynsty25 wrote:Wow...Ravens released Rice.

Re: The NFL 2014-2015
Sure they did. Just look at San Francisco's handling of Ray McDonald. "It's not true until the court says so". He got a minor slap on the wrist from the legal system, so they had plenty of choice, legally.
It's not often I say I agree with the NFL and the way a pro team handles an issue like this, but I agree 100% with today's developments. The only better punishment would be tack on him having to get into the cage with the UFC champ in whatever weight class he's in. Let him go 5 rounds with a trained fighter and see how long he lasts. Then he'd know what it's like for that woman to have to fight him. Sure, she swung at him to start with, so she has some issues there, but any man needs to be able to control himself. You can stop a woman from slapping you without having to lay hands on her like that, that's insane. We're so much more powerful than women that there's no excuse for any of that sh*t.

Re: The NFL 2014-2015
There were rumors about this video. And NFL Security has a certain reputation for being able to dig up things, so the NFL's claim that they never seen this video before rings hollow.
Probable truth is that they didn't think there would be such a reaction to the 2-game suspension, so they probably didn't think domestic violence was as big a deal to the public as PEDs or DUIs.

Re: The NFL 2014-2015
Goodell has some major questions to answer about his credibility if the NFL's initial "investigation" of the Rice incident was so slipshod it didn't include this video. This video was from a security camera, not a fan's smartphone. Who led this probe, Paul Blart, Mall Cop?TCrouch wrote:The league was pretty clear this morning that they hadn't seen that video before, that only law enforcement had it. The NFL could have seen this video if it wanted. I don't believe for one second NFL brass saw this footage for the first time this morning.
That said, TMZ is the new force in American sports journalism. It brought down Donald Sterling and now Ray Rice. Meanwhile, the NFL's commercial partners, ESPN and CBS, don't have one negative commentary about Goodell's leadership or the Rice situation on their respective websites as of 5:45 p.m. ET, but SI.com and Yahoo! Sports do.
Media companies are complicit partners the NFL's coverup. No question. It's bad business for ESPN and CBS to make Goodell look weak and tone-deaf.
