>>>My preference is off because the pitting options are to restricted and unpredictable with it on and I'm really want to be able to use pitting strategies when I'm racing.<<<

Agreed.

I won't be playing with autodrive on for cautions and here is why.

Today...20 lapper at Chicagoland....6 humans 0 AI.

I take the lead and yellow comes out. I'm going to take my pit (its lap eight), but I want to wait for the pits to open. I notice that we are all lined up and the pit request box comes up again. I click yes figuring that the pits will open by the time we get around to them. They open....perfect payoff to the strategy I think....still under autodrive the cpu takes my car across some grass and spins into the pits so I am facing the wrong way in pit lane. The pits are still open but instead of pitting the cpu resets me outside the pits on the front straight. The pits are still open and the autodrive is taking me around and now I'm going to be a lap down and I need fuel so I have no choice so I select pit again when the dialogue box comes up. This time the autodrive takes me head on into the barrier separating pit row from the racetrack. My car is demolished, the pits close and it resets me in the pits. At least I can fix the damage. I come out and have to go around 2 more times for the pits to open and then I refueled. I managed to finish the race in 3rd, but it was a horrible experience. In case I haven't made it clear....I was never in control during the whole fiasco...all of that sh*t happened while the ai was controlling my car.

Here's another bug I found this evening:

On one to go coming to the green in the race before I joined Granato's room, we were running quarter length Kentucky. At the very last possible moment with the field pretty far behind him, the leader dived into the pits. Even though the rest of the field didn't pass him until AFTER he had crossed the pit road speed line and entered autodrive, everyone behind the leader received a complimentary black flag. So something is definitely buggy there :]

Ted:

That is an auto-drive nightmare! I have had the regular pit-exit autodrive get out of control, fishtail back and forth, end up in the grass, and spin me 540º, and then give me control in the grass facing the wrong way! And that was just coming out of the pits!

Yesterday in Av8tor's room, I saw no weirdness with caution autodrive on, but from this it looks like we were lucky. I think the main reason he feels he needs it on is to deal with the inexperienced drivers who are clueless to the point of querying "what is a yellow flag?" I'm not sure it would work if AI cars are on.

I do remember on the first day when we had cuation auto-drive and AI cars that an AI car rear-ended the pace car right in front of me one time.

Man, this game has issues. Last night's late sessions were beyond frustrating. I admit I was pretty p.o.'ed about the Metros and had had a few beers, but that was insanity every time. In Ted's room there were as many different races happening as cars it seemed, after the first accident anyway.

Did they just skip the beta-testing for online play? Some of these issues (like the d/c's) might not happen on the test servers, but a lot of these issues (green flag immediately after opening pits, AI pit rules weirdness (they seem to be able to get full fuel even when pits are closed), autordrive insanity) seem to be pretty obvious.

I bet their beta testers got too good and rarely wrecked so didn't get the problems we have. Need to get PK to get us together so we can volunteer to do a real beta test on the next release. ;)

Codemasters should let this DSP crew beta test their next Indy game!
I've never met a more thorough, dedicated bunch of online racers anywhere!

That was the lighlight of my night. I've never heard such venom spewed from Zeppo before. Sounded a lot like some assh*le I know who gets altered and races many nights ... ;)

You should hear me yell at the refs at the Redskins games, man. Especially when it's against the Cowboys! Or those NY Midgets!

Zep:

When you starting slurring the Argentine fans last night, I thought, "Is this the Zeppo we know and love?" and "F*ck, this is funny!" :)

So then I started baiting you. Remember? "So, Zep, those Argentines were real c*cksuckers, huh? Real dicks, huh?"

;)

Take care,

LOL!!! Yeah, I was pissed! In both meanings! Actually I wasn't nearly as drunk as I might have been, considering the trials it took to get a beer.

But really that was unfair of me. In fact, there were a couple families of Argentines sitting around me (usually my section is nice and roomy, plenty of space to stretch out), and even a small knot of Peruvians, and they all actually shook hands and said hello before starting to give each other the finger (generally in jest) and chanting bad things about each other!

But really they were all well behaved and having a great time. I was just sooooo freaking pissed about the miserable way the Metros lost that I lumped all my frustrations together.

In fact, I was even MORE p.o.'ed about the NJSEA than any of the fans. They were pouring beers from the plastic bottles into plastic cups, making it take FOREVER to get a beer. I asked why and was told, "well, it's these soccer fans, they like to throw things . . . " I almost LOST IT COMPLETELY! Hey, I've been to enough G'nts and Jets games to see how idiotic NFL fans at the swamp can be, and remember oh-so-well when the Jet 'fans' hit that coach on the sidelines with an ice-ball from the upper deck.

Typical xenophobic white-man BS from the NJSEA, who seem to be institutionally unaware of the large Latino population that are citizens of their state. And let me tell you, a lot of these 'soccer fans' at the game were first and second generation Yanks who still feel much loyalty to their heritage, and were there with their foreign born parents and/or grandparents. Half the people I saw adorned with Argentine and Peruvian colors also sported Old Glory somewhere on their person. Folks, this is America, like it or not. We are a nation of immigrants.

Goodness we need that Harrison Metros stadium faster than light, get the NJSEA out of the business they obviously don't want any part of.
