I personally think the demo is great...was a little worried after reading some of the comments here but this will be as always a day one purchase for me. Really like the feel and energy of the game and the goal horns are finally awesome! I'm seeing some great stuff in terms of puck physics and deflections. Not a huge graphical leap on the ice but everything else is upgraded for sure.

I think I am going to stick to hardcore which suits more my style of play. It just tones down a notch the quickness on default and I also see more of a variety in scoring on both sides. I find that playing positionally sound works out better that the pokecheck here and I am really enjoying the camera set on dynamic high.

Haven't seen a penalty by the CPU yet.

I'm going to try hardcore tonight.. I usually play simulation with speed down 1 notch because I don't like the passing on hardcore.

I'm not feeling the demo just yet. It plays very similar to NHL 14 in my opinion, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. It's still fun and will provide me with my hockey fix. And maybe it's because I don't have any allegiance to these two teams. There just doesn't seem to be that wow factor I had when playing Madden 15. Yes, it is a clean and brighter looking game than the NHL series of recent past, but something feels off to me. The skaters feel a little floaty maybe, and perhaps a little harder to control. The player models are very hit or miss, and their expressions are a little ghostly.

I do think sliders are going to make a world of difference. I'm not a fan of how fast it plays nor how lightning quick the shots are. At default, it plays too arcadey, and lacks the balance of being also a bit of a sim. I think the game is going to be solid, but I do feel that this is a shell of what we're going to experience in NHL 16.

Tried the PS4 version and it was buttery smooth. Funny I was mentioning no penalties on the X1 and I had two in one game alone playing with the same settings here. Never played NHL on a Sony console but it's no secret that I slightly prefer the DS4 controller over the xbox and with no EASHL this year, I am contemplating buying the game for the PS4.

I had penalties.

Scored my first and only pp goal two seconds into my first pp. Its good to have had time playing D. No?

Though for some reason the cpu got alot more pp time than I. 8)

While not buying, I will take the six? hours of ea access..

I thought one of the best parts of the demo is that they both seem drugged. So subdued. I did hear waffling alot but I ignored it cause it was so low key like he was coming down from a high.

Bottom line for me is it has half the modes. Eashl is not the only mode these "people" left out.

$59 for half a game sounds insane to me.

Enjoy your hut!

Yeah Im still disgusted with these fucks.

Try $69 and higher taxes in this part of the world. Total Bullscrap, but if there's enough interest in the 360 for the Dragons, I'll be there.

I know there are people that only play the half they put in the game and people that just love hockey.

Cant do it! The lack of courage and the lack of respect for their customers is FAR too much for me. These bastards knew for months but just kept leading us on.

Played some more and general impressions :

-Game is fun as hell
-This plays more of an arcade style which is more up my alley. Gameplay is more like last gen but I don't really mind that. It seems last gen got just a presentation and graphical update. Doesn't seem that much of a leap from last gen to next gen like Madden is.
-Stars come up big in the demo. I hope that is not just me thinking that while I"m playing, but the truth.
-The commentary isn't that bad when you play real time. It's pretty decent.
-Gameplay at least on ps4 is smooth. No problems with controls.

Very Happy. I think i'm getting this one day 1.

I just can't seem to find it in the settings but how the heck do you set lock a position to play?

someone asked me if the gameplay of the demo reminds me of any previous nhl game. I would definitely say NHL 10. I think their top game in terms of AI was NHL 13, so if the final version is anywhere close to that, we all should be very happy.

Hardcore is slower and maybe where I'm playing this year vs simulation mode. I really love the puck physics and how I can smack someone with a big D, but with a littler guy I just bounce off of them.

Need the full game though.. demo is wayyyy too short to really gain a good impression. Maybe I'm nuts, but the goalies do feel different than NHL 14.

Click the stick in at the team select screen. I think it was the left stick. You will see a small red position indicator and can keep clicking to scroll through the positions.

Cool, will give it a try. It'll be the closest thing to EASHL for now. 8)

The scratches from the on ice glass, the cracks of an aging arena like Joe Louis, the banners, the beer vendor, the drunken taunting fans cheering on and the lightning of a stadium....All seems to add a great detail to the life experience in a game so says Rammer. So yes they did do something for this year's game and all more important than the missing modes.

I just shook my head when he talks about how hard they on this eye candy.

Clearly someone decided the most important part of selling a game on next gen is to wow people with graphics. That's going for the casual at the expense of the loyal gamers who buy this s*** evey year.

f***in Ramjag.

I can't say much.. I bitched and moaned that they needed to update the presentation. I still don't understand how EASHL was removed and I feel for those fans of that particular mode.

The basic fact is that the team doesn't have the resources we all imagine. They weren't working on this game for 2 years. They worked on 14 last year, and worked on 15 this year.

I think the simple reality is that the first release on next gen was either going to be straight port of last gen version, or an actually reworked game with missing features. :( :(

I've played many more games on AS "hardcore" setting and I'm really loving the demo (still needs at least 5 min settings).

I got a penalty when the goalie came out to play the puck and I smashed right into him. :) The players definitely have more "weight" to them and you just can't stop on a dime. Again with the puck physics, really enjoying how the puck bounces around (no more basketball dump ins either).

No more flattening players with smaller players either. I love all the little presentation stuff, really draws me into the game. Hybrid icing.. pretty neat seeing it for the first time in the NHL series.

I've never used the "hardcore" setting, but I'm really liking the game play much more than the simulation setting I've always used in the past.

Can't wait for early access to the full game a week from Thursday I'm assuming?
