XB1 August update details. A few nice improvements, especially the expanded Friends on the home screen. Now they just need to make the Friends app snap-able.

Truly is worth $15... I paid $20 for it and don't regret it. I still play an occasional round on it, although I think my play time with it will be more limited once The Golf Club comes out for the XB1.

I was thinking of getting PS golf, but as J says, once Golf Club comes out I probably wouldn't play it, so I decided to hold off. For once.

Anyone getting The Last of Us. Remastered??? Like I said earlier, I'm leaning towards getting it because I didn't play the PS3 version. Comes out Tuesday.

Just read about that, it's just an extension of the season ticket from years past which I renewed for NHL 14 last year at 24.99 and that was the last game they did an early release for.

Will probably be worth it for the 4.99 price for a months access to get NHL and/or Madden 5 days early and then not renew it until the following year.

10% off new games as well, which if you buy NHL, FIFA, Madden and another (as many around here do) will save you $24 right there.

It's interesting...this is something that would get me to get certain games on the Xb1 (the EA games obviously)...given the discount, the early access, etc. Otherwise, I'd just be getting them on the PS4.

This is an easy win for sports gamers. It will be interesting to see if works as well for other gamers.

It will be interesting to see if this moves the needle on console sales, if gamers primarily choose to play FIFA and Madden on the Xbox. As those numbers grow, it will drag along others, and increase the odds that current last gen sports gamers consider the Xbox first.

Or it may have absolutely zero effect.

It works for me because I have an Xbox One and will buy NHL, FIFA, and probably Madden. And the free preview will give EA a shot to sell NBA Live, even though I don't think EA is close to closing the gap with 2K yet.

From Major Nelsons page:

Play First: EA Access members will get to experience trials of new EA games early on Xbox One. Starting 5 days before release, you’ll be able to try the game for at least two hours and then save your progress. Once you purchase the digital or physical copy, you can use your save game and continue the experience.

That is not as good as last years deal where you had early access to the game up until release day, hopefully that gets amended.

People are so overreacting to this. EA has an FAQ out, it says each game will vary. If people stop to think for a second it would make sense.

If Dragon Age has unlimited access 5 days early there will be people who could finish the game and have no reason to buy. If Madden has unlimited access no issues. Major Nelson used pretty poor wording (no surprise) but if you read the FAQ and think about it I don't think this time limitations will affect sports games.
