Once you have the game installed, for a next gen game waiting a full minute or so before you can actually play it is a bit much.

Technical issues is what Sony was saying regarding the digital DL problems.

I'm actually not as pissed as some people (OS Forums). I must be getting mellow in my old age. (I can just hear the Ice Dragons laughing at that statement :)) Oh well, you live you learn.
It actually was communicated that MLB wouldn't be part of that "preloading" feature. Watch Dogs was always going to be the first title that utlized it. I read it in multiple places and it's too damn difficult to find now because all of the google searches come up with the failure that was last nights release.

In the middle of my first exhibition and loving it. I always had trouble with the default pitch speed on previous versions (too fast) but I'm liking it with 14. Everything is much crisper and I don't mean just graphics (which are very nice). Sounds, ball coming off the bat, etc. all very cool. Still early but I really like the dynamic camera when hitting...as expected.

I initiated the download from my PSN mobile app at work, just came home went downstairs and the game was downloaded and installed. Got worried for a minute when the first time I tried to start it said it was verifying my license but I got it to start from a different screen.

Played 4 innings, like the pitch counts I walked 3 guys and drew 2 walks. That's 2 more than the last 5 years combined. Not digging the dynamic cameras at all.

Just put the disc in and it starts. It did some update thing but only took a minute.

Now it is stuck with CC Sabathia picture? is this the install process?

Also, did your game box have any instructions or paper in it? Mine just had the disc with no booklets or advertising.

added : NM i figured it out. I guess i can do exhibition games while it installs.

Well my first game was extremely enjoyable. I played as the Mariners vs KC. I lost 3-1 but it was a great game. King Felix is very fun to pitch with. He went 8 strong for me giving up 8 hits 2 runs. James Shields had my number though. He went 8 also. I had 7 hits and I earned them. I scratched out a sac fly with Cory Hart in the 9th but that was it. Unlike Danimal, I really like the dynamic camera...especially when hitting. On D I'm still up in the air.

Game is as good as I anticipated :D

Well I tried remote play and the game looks great on the Vita but the lag when trying to hit makes it tough. Manage only would be sweet though.

early impressions after 3 innings :

-game is gorgous
-game controls awesome. Reaction time almost as fast as HH 2003. But still great. Love how they kept everything so simple.
-CPU batter fouls off pitches!
-Broadcast regular speed pretty fast gameplay. I'm sure even faster on fast play and pre count.

So far I'm digging it! It reminds me a lot of HH!

Have played a game and a half. Here are my pros and cons thus far:

+ Behind the pitcher looks so close to real.
+ The stadiums, crowds, and player models have a much cleaner look to them.
+ The gameplay is buttery smooth when in play.
+ Hitting and pitching feels more seamless than in versions past.
+ The crowd is much more in tune with what is going on.
+ Quick counts seem better than what I first experienced on the Vita.
+ The dynamic camera brings you much closer to the game, but not sure how well I like it on defense. Harder to judge.
+ Overall atmosphere has been taken up quite a bit. Great bat sounds and the crowds look great!

- Load times to start a game border on ridiculous. Has to be close to a minute or more.
- Game takes a hit during cut-aways. Frame rates drop pretty considerably. Doubt it can be patched.
- Same boring commentary, albeit with new lines and a better flow.
- Seeing far too many short pop ups.
- Outfielders cover too much ground. Hopefully sliders will help with this.
- Too many foul balls. Slider goes to 0.

Very happy with my purchase. While it feels very much like an enhanced PS3 game, the cleaner look, beautiful visuals, smooth animations, and atmosphere really add to the enjoyment of an already tremendous game. The copy of this game is going to be in my PS4 for a long time come.

ya the load time to get into the game suck. Also i tired that MLB Today mode, game froze. Also, i noticed on double plays, the 2nd baseman lobs the ball to first instead of zipping it. Is that because of the game or something I'm doing w/ the controls?

Still figuring out pitching and batting. but game feels like solid. the control is just great. The new camera on pop ups i'm not sure about. i like it a bit higher. maybe i will mess w/ it.

have not played this series since early ps2 days. so all new to me.

Likely your doing, you need to preload the throws and hold down the button before it gets to him.

I can't do the quick counts...I've tried more times than not but it just takes away too much of what baseball is all about. One thing I like about the dynamic camera is that my eyes aren't what they used to be so I find that camera mode really helps me be able to field balls....especially infield grounders. I didn't care for dynamic when batting though....much prefer the broadcast cam.
I'm using the catcher default cam for batting and the last few games I moved to the broadcast cam for pitching to get a different look. My guess is that I'll eventually go back to default catcher cam for pitching as well.

Quick count was werid when i started out but i sort of got use to it i guess. it does take the baseball out of the game.

The default cam for batting I don't really like. Like you, it seems the fielder is too far away. What camera do you recommend that is a bit closer? I tried broadcast and it was a bit better. But would like something better in between high and medium if there is something like that.

Here's a quick 4 minutes video of my game where the Jays come back to beat the A's. Once Reyes reaches 1st base and with the count 2-2 or 3-2 I do try to steal but the pitcher keeps me honest. On the last attempt for whatever reason I am caught in no man's land when I had no attempt to advance to second. Anyways, I am thinking game over but low and behold for whatever reason I am safe. The video doesn't show so as I know I am caught (glitch?). So Encarnacion continues with the bat and the next pitch is bye bye baseball. :D Santa Maria...

I dl'd this share factory but never found out how to use it. Do you hit the share button and it'll record? I still have it setup for twitch.

First thing that came to mind was the character Pedro Cerrano "hats for bats, help keep bats warm".

does Sony have a roster share community option like 2k? I d like to find some old teams.

Also i am digging the simple controls like HH. Just button presses to the bases and button press/hold for pitching.

I see they have other options like analog, meter, and analog+button. What is the best way to play the game control wise?

Meh. It sure does look pretty though. A quick fifteen minutes before I went to the gym left me underwhelmed. Hopefully I get more into it tonight but my jaw certainly didn't drop. Tho I guess my expectations were probably too high for a first release on the ps4. I'll still play the s*** out if it I'm sure.

Once you edit your video you have to render the movie. Save it. Then from the share factory copy it to a stick and upload it to youtube.

That was initial impression on the visuals. An upgrade for sure over the PS3 but not the 'Holy Crap Batman' graphics I was expecting from the PS4. Thankfully the game plays solid.

So, I've switched to the medium camera for both defense and offense. I think that is my sweet spot.

For hitting, I'm now using catcher default 4 I believe. The default camera is too far back for my tastes, and I find it easier to follow the pitches better now.

Classic pitching gets a little boring afer a game or two. I like to switch it up, and found pitching with analog was rather fun and challenging at the same time. It's not very easy to hit your spots, like meter.

I love the dynamic pitching and hitting feature. I've slowly climbed the ladder to veteran for pitching, but am still on Rookie plus for hitting. I'm getting there, but it'll take some time and patience, especially on quick counts.

The negative to quick counts when you're pitching is when you bring in a relief pitcher, his count starts at the point of the former pitcher. Kinda wish there was an option to use quick counts for either pitching or hitting, not both as it is set. I'd love to set it just for pitching.

Just played two games at Wrigley and Pittsburgh. The stadiums are gorgeous and the night games look beautiful.

Unfortunately, a night game at Busch has the crowd basically in the dark come the 7th thru 9th inning. Hopefully, this can be patched, because it just looks bad. It's as if someone turned out the lights in the crowd.

Absolutely loving this game.

Played another exhibition...this time Yanks at Orioles. Camden is beautiful. I put up some crooked numbers with HRs by Soriano, Jeter and Tex. Pitched with Tanaka too. I really like the Dynamic cameras. Much better immersion using it. Really like how the game is playing. It feels better than previous versions to me.

lot of cool modes in this game im discovering. this challange of the week is pretty cool. Wainwright vs Mccutchen this week.

there are some other live type stuff i guess.

this community challanges stuff is great. and it's all user made? just awesome. it's like everything you'd want in a baseball game (except classic stadiums and classic teams).
