All true. But imagine if you did see sticks flying or PK Subban rubbing it as if he scored an OT winner against OTT, (thank goodness he didn't play).pk500 wrote:I didn't sense that much pure joy from Team Canada after winning the gold, which only reinforces my belief that NOTHING in the mind of a hockey player approaches the Holy Grail of winning the Stanley Cup.10spro wrote:Watching Carey Price, you would have never thought that they won Gold. What a grounded dude, nothing bothers him. Cool as cucumber.
I saw no sticks flying in the air at the buzzer. No gloves tossed skyward. No players doing snow angels on the ice. You see those images every June from the Cup winners.
Team Canada was happy, maybe a bit relieved since gold is an expectation in Canada. But I didn't see any of the pure giddyness displayed by young men who just won the Stanley Cup.
They would have been labeled a bunch of classless millionaires beating only a team plagued with injuries and a coach blaming the IOC for suspending N. Backstrom for taking an antihistamine for his allergies.
Even at full health, the Swedes weren't going to take the Gold away from Canada. Not with this strong and speedy blue line. Along Russia, they were supposed to meet for Gold and you never witnessed the drama and momentum changes that we saw four years ago in Vancouver against the Americans.
They were heavily favored today and even though you did not see the emotions that you saw four years ago, the whole country rocked in joy from coast to coast.
No doubt, they all crave Lord Stanley first and foremost because it is such a grind compared to this tournament but excited and proud, they all are.
You could tell it in Marty St Louis interview with the CBC, a guy who play little yet was full of emotions for the opportunity to wear the red Maple Leaf.
But seriously, someone should check if C. Price has a pulse. What a cool dude.
