Inuyasha wrote:Other than The Show, anything of interest coming out in the next month or so? I'm not keeping up with this thing anymore. I just see the same launch games out there for sale when I visit the video game section at BB. I'm not interested in Indie games either.
The Show is a may release, next games up in Mark are Titan Fall and Infamous.
Thief, Rayman Legends Plants vs. Zombie: Garden Warfare (timed exclusive to Xbox One and 360) are going to drop this month, too. And Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes drops for both consoles next month.
I'll let the usuals post the resolution news for each release.
Aristo wrote:If Microsoft goes Kinectless, they ought to ship it with the mix the Kinect uses. That is the difference maker. Honestly, I keep the camera covered because it is just easier. If I get a game that needs to see me, or work out, I can slide the cover off. But for 99% of the time, I don't need the camera. I use the voice commands every single day.
Sorry if you've mentioned it Aristo, but why do you cover the camera? What is easier about it rather than just letting it be?
I was tired of it always having everyone signed in, so when my daughter is playing ACIV, my activity says I am playing ACIV, and such. I really don't use gestures ever. The mount I use came with a cover, so I just put it on to see how long it would take before I really cared. As it is, I just manually sign in and leave it at that. Now we don't have the random notifications that the Xbox saw my daughter or wife walk into the room while I watch TV or play a game.
But the Kinect still hears everything, and it still turns all of my equipment off and on, and lets me use voice command with my Tivo. I think Microsoft would have been better off to double down on the voice stuff, which probably could have just been included in the console itself.
FYI - you may already know this, but you can turn off the auto sign in per each user account. I turned it off for my kids, but left it on for me since I am the main user. Works well now.

I was looking forward to Thief, but the reviews have been pretty lukewarm. Driveclub and The Show are probably the only two PS4 titles I'm excited about before Elder Scrolls Online hits.
I'm still sitting on the sidelines myself..... I'm tempted to go Xbox just because I still have a few years of Live paid for (cards I found on sale, etc) and because I think the Kinect would be great for when my wee one starts playing games in a few years (hopefully!)
But I am tempted to go PS4 because of The Show. I'm weak, I know..... I guess as I get older, i'm starting to like baseball more and more lol......
Just curious for anyone with a Xbox, can the Kinect sit ok on top of a centre channel speaker, or would that just completely FUBAR the voice recognition?

Shouldn't be a problem. Mine is on a shelf about 6" above the speaker and it's fine. You calibrate the voice levels, so it'll always hear you over whatever is coming out of the speakers. No need to raise your voice, as I'm always reminding my wife and kids when they start barking at it.

Same here...Thief is falling off my radar pretty quickly.
Driveclub and The Show will be epic, but what about Infamous? I can't wait to play that one....did you play the first? One of my favorite super hero games of all-time! Add a next-gen open world Seattle to play around in, and it's a must-buy!
Yeah I've got Rayman on the way as well. Had to get it for the XB1 soince I only have one other game. Lol. Plus my son will probably get a kick out of watching it with all of the pretty colors.
The one question the comparisons raise is how cross-platform games will be developed this generation. There's no question both consoles are capable of producing incredible graphics. But will we see a reverse this generation, where the PS4 is the platform developers produce games for and then port to XB1?

The good news is that the storyline will be identically idiotic on both platforms.
I think the term 'idiotic' is underplaying it.
db and Sportsdan,
Rayman Legends is an AMAZING platformer. If it was made by Nintendo the games press would be losing their mind over it. Not only does it look great the level design is fantastic and the music stages at the end of each world are some of the most fun I've had with a platformer in years. I picked it up on the 360 via direct download during a xmas sale and I imagine it'll look even better on the next gen system.

Yeah, I checked out Rayman Origins on the 360 back in the day and loved it. Never got around to Legends...so definitely looking forward to it tonight.

There may be a learning curve with the 10 MB embedded SRAM in the X1. It's not enough to have a full HD frame buffer but if they can keep data moving through it, they may improve the performance closer to parity.
But the PS4 APU just has more Compute Units (CUs) as well as higher total bandwidth.
In the end though, X1 will have enough installed base for developers to support and even customize (support Kinect features) and so on, though Sony may be opening up a sizable lead globally. More X1s have been sold than the number of X360s, at a comparable point in its life.
No more visual comparisons from me. It's all good. I'm enjoying both systems very much.
I know I'm late to the party, but Rayman Legends is fantastic! Great level design and it's absolutely beautiful. Just a wonderful game play experience.
For me the decision seems to be rattling around in my brain to either get an all in one entertainment system that the family can enjoy (Kinect+Kids = Gold), or I feel that if I pick a PS4, it's solely for me as a hardcore game machine....
Of course, i could just stick with my 360 and buy a blu ray player for the new man cave.... but what's the fun of that?!

Just so we're clear Dan, my comment was not directed at you but at another site with another "OMG screen shot" story. I really don't care what anyone posts in here, this is all of our places to hang out and shoot the s***.
I'm just curious how both system have so many missing promised features almost 5 months after launch and that's not a story.

Because that's technology in a nutshell these days. Its a given that early adopters are beta testers and that features are added not included. Par for the course.
Inuyasha wrote:Learned today FIFA World Cup Brazil won't be on next gen. Only ps3/xb360. Wtf ea. why?
Maybe because this game is going to be nothing more than a cash grab by EA? It will be FIFA 14 in different clothes. If you own FIFA, this game is a waste of time unless you enjoy blowing $60 to get all of the stadiums in Brazil.
The only enticing feature in this game for me is commentary by Roger Bennett and Michael Davies of the outstanding Grantland footy podcast, "Men in Blazers."
