Nice preview. I kinda scoffed when they said the commentary has been a strong point for the past few years. If anything, it's been the biggest negative. It does sound like it'll be improved, but to what extent? Everything else sounds great. This game is my Titanfall! I can't frickin' wait! Go Cards!!!!

The Show is another game I'm not excited for in the least. I had heard this was gonna push to June so they must of upped the release window or cut something. So far the next gen sports titles haven't really been that impressive and I don't expect The Show to be any different. It will have some better visuals and maybe a new wrinkle or two but I can't see anyone but die hard fans of the series being really geeked about it.

One thing is certain, outside of enhanced ports (Tomb Raider) and sports games you're going to see a lot of release windows push back. I think publishers were not convinced the market for Next Gen consoles would be this large this fast.

NBA 2k14 is significantly better than the 360 version in almost every way (except the horrible menus). They did a fantastic job w/ the upgrade. I expect the same from a first party developer. The Show is gonna be a significant jump...mark it down.

The Show was also probably the most "next gen" sports game of the last cycle, too. Seeing how good 2k14 was (server issues aside) also has me expecting The Show to be pretty awesome.

FIFA 14 gameplay is also much better IMO next gen and the visuals are a nice upgrade too.

I expect The Show's upgrade to be at least that good...certainly only touching the tip of the iceberg of what they will be able to do later this gen but a nice improvement none-the-less.

Truth!

I worry that I'm getting my hopes up, but a next gen of NHL 15 could be frickin' amazing.

I wish I was getting excited for and MLB 2K14 for next gen, too. I'm still holding out the slightest of hope that the RBI Baseball game will be based primarily on the 2K game.

We think alike! They are really due for a huge upgrade to the NHL series, I hope it's just not a port of NHL 14. MLB 2k would have been nice to see though. :(

The game has required about 4 patches just for a good contingent of people to play. I don't consider that significantly better.

How is it better? Can you provide an example in either FIFA of NBA where the game play is better?

Outside of day 1...it's worked perfect for ME every time. So I can't comment on other's troubles...nor should you unless you have experience with it personally. Either way, it's still a huge upgrade over the last gen...when playable. So, there's that.

And since you asked why NBA is better...well, the #1 reason is because the players actually feel like they are on the court and not floating around. It changes the entire dynamic and it models momentum and physics quite a bit better because of that.

Well considering I experienced it every time I started the game to the point where I haven't even tried to play it in weeks I would say that qualifies me to talk about it. Also if you decided you want to provide an example of where the game play is better I'd be willing to listen. Since I haven't been able to play it much I guess it's a fair point I might not know why it is better.

Well I will give it another try, perhaps over the weekend. I admit I gave up on it when I basically couldn't start the game just about every time I tried.

Goodness...

Guess that's why I see XB1s in nearly every retailer and I still have yet to see a PS4 in stock anywhere. Didn't think it would be THIS bad, that's for damn sure.

Sure, I have a few. I can only do FIFA since I only bought NBA on next gen knowing it would look amazing.

- FIFA 14 has by far the most playable remote play of any of the games I've played so far on PS4. It's not hampered by the controls and having it on a smaller screen isn't much of an issue.
- the crowds are much more realistic looking, which adds a ton to the immersion factor. Plus, there is a lot more going on around outside the pitch (ball boys, players chasing after balls, warming up, etc.) so it's not like this game is being played in a sterile environment. Atmosphere has always been more important to me in soccer and football games and FIFA14 nails it more on next gen.
- the game is much more fluid. I found FIFA 14 to be surprisingly jerky and unnatural looking. I'm seeing a lot more animations too and realistic player reactions and animations specific to where the ball is in relation to their body and the opponents.
- I'll admit that I'm a graphics whore and I believe it is a reasonable upgrade for a first attempt.
- The AI seems better to me, but YMMV. It may be just dumb luck or a small sample but during my season ticket trial of the 360 version and a Redbox rental but one of the reasons I didn't buy FIFA on 360 was because I had just as much trouble beating a lower division team as I did a premier team. It was classic "all the teams and players seem the same." I just don't see that as much on PS4 but maybe it was just a small sample on 360.
- the sound is substantially better, but maybe I notice it more with expensive headphones directly connected to my PS4 controller.

I passed on FIFA 14 for 360 after about 5 days of heavy rotation and went for Pro Evolution last gen. I took a chance on FIFA 14 for PS4 while looking for a "free" game for the Target B2G1. I watched a lot of the pre-release videos and saw enough positive feedback to take a chance. I'm glad I did. If it wasn't for my addition to NBA2K's career mode it would be at the top of my rotation.

There's no doubt at all that FIFA 14 is a much better gameplay experience on the XB1 than on the 360. The entire engine is improved. Ball physics, player interactions, animations, control, online responsiveness. It's not even close.

Not too mentioned a much improved AI when playing against the CPU. On FUT mode try playing any BPL team against any other league team on World Cup difficulty and you'll have your hands full. A much more fluid and generic experience as mentioned above. My small gripes is that at times I do tend to over press my controller for a particular action whether it's an offline or online game when it's not intended, as it occurred also in previous Fifas.

Headers are still too easy to connect.

Completely true. I was blown away by how much more the game feels like real basketball. Plus the level of detail in the graphics adds a lot to the immersion for a sport like the NBA, where it's only 5 on 5 and you can really see some of those details while playing.

I have to say, as someone who doesn't game on a PC, the graphic upgrades are very significant to me even if the best PS4 games are those available for the 360 and PS3. I got Assassin's Creed and was really impressed by how much better the visuals looked. Plus the PS4 controller is the most comfortable one I have ever used.

Agreed about the upgrade to FIFA next gen.

I've always been a PES guy, but playing FIFA 14 as my only PS4 game at the moment has made me a believer. Having played a bit of last gen FIFA, I can say the most noticeable difference has to be the animations for me. Every game, I see something that looks fresh. And to me, it's a killer feature to have a different animation for every possible player context/position. For example, if my player is waiting to strike a cross that's about to land at his feet, the animation will be completely different depending on whether the ball lands right at his feet, a foot in front of him, behind him, a foot off the ground, etc...It really creates the immersion that I'm looking for in a sports game, where I've been so accustomed to seeing the same goal/move over and over again.

Yeah, a bummer but they'll add some WC stuff in the next gen FUT mode.
