Thanks for posting your opinion here Diablo25. I'm still in next-gen purchase decision mode and you've added some factors for me to consider. I know for a fact I'm going to have make a decision before The Golf Club releases in April (and maybe sooner if HB Studios has an open beta for the console versions, as I suspect they will). Up until I read your message, I felt like my next-gen decision was being driven by Cronus Max and/or Evolution Studios. If Cronus Max updates their controller adapter to FULLY support current-gen Fanatec steering wheels (as they are purportedly working on), I'll very likely go XBox One. If they don't, and Evolution Studios puts current-gen Fanatec wheel support in The DriveClub, then I'll go PS4. If neither happens, I'll likely go XBox One, especially after reading your post!

Agree. I haven't touched my 360 in more than two weeks. Too much going on with new job, kid activities, playing in the band, skiing and the desire to read and exercise more.

There is no PS4 or One in my immediate or medium future. Our kids aren't clamoring for one, either. They're very happy with the backlog of 360 games to tackle.

The absolute earliest I could envision buying a current-gen machine is Black Friday 2014, and that's starting to feel more and more like a stretch.

We'll see.

Glad you fellas are enjoying the new rigs. I don't have much desire to game on anything these days, old or new.

I honestly play the Wii U more than anything right now. And even that is not a ton. I probably would have caved by now and gotten a "next-gen" console but the main reason I did at launch is because I had an Amazon gift card for a significant portion of the XB1's price that I was holding on to treat myself with. After hanging on to that gift card for a few months I finally decided to just go ahead and put it towards the XB1 since I knew that I'd eventually get one even if it was a year later.

But since then I have realized that I could DEFINITELY be completely content without it. It's nice to have and I am excited for its future but right now it's not anything special. You guys who are waiting aren't missing much. I am very, very stoked for Titanfall but even that is just one game.

I would say the best things about the PS4 over the PS3 are that the controller is nicer and it's much quieter.

Of course the graphics are better and will improve over time as new games come out.

It was ridiculous that the battery indicator and storage management wasn't there from the start but I'm glad they have addressed it. I'll be interested to see what else they add, specifically how they improve the (sorry) party system.

It's funny, with all the negativity surrounding the xb1 I've found that between forza, ryse, dead rising, nba2k, powerstar, etc it has really renewed my interest in gaming. I guess it helps that I'm playing some of these franchises for the first time (or first time in a long time) as my gaming time has severely decreased over the last few years between work, kids, life in general.

I think battery life got overlooked because the XB1 controller is kind of amazingly efficient. It's better to have it, but since I have only had a dead controller twice since owning the console. Of course, I have a charging station now, so that is part of the reason.

I think the lack of hard drive information was specifically to avoid a comparison with the PS4's available space. It won't take long for people to start claiming that Microsoft is charging more for less hard drive space.

What I'm wanting is a solution for using Instant On with my STB. As it is, I have to leave it on Energy Saving, otherwise my Live TV bogs down and freezes. If I use Energy Saving, the TV integration works perfectly. This means I can't start up the Xbox with a voice command, and getting to TV takes a minute or two while the console boots up. I still might switch to the Genie from my DirecTV Tivo STB, as it seems it has les issues.

I had taken TV out of the XB1, and just had it on a separate input, which worked fine. But my wife missed all of the voice controls for TV and instant access to Amazon and Netflix by simply issuing a command. So we just boot the Xbox the first time and leave it up until I go to bed.

Same here. I've playing more than I had in the last year. Forza, Fifa & Ryse, in particular, have kept me up too late at night.

This is starting to get sad. I have only one game for the Xbox One (Forza 5)...as the rest are better looking on the PS4. I guess I'm continuing to wait for exclusives. I really would like to play some games on my 55" dammit.

I'm still very excited to present the Xbox One to my son on Saturday, but I am curious whether it's possible that MS would in the coming year or years upgrade their internal hardware to match or exceed the PS4? Is there something preventing them from doing that besides early adopters throwing a massive raging fit/protest? I realize larger hard drives do, but what about the processor, video card, etc?

That would be a bigger PR nightmare than a few frames or pixels lost. I'm sure the XB1 will be fine...it's just disconcerting when game developers are complaining about it already.

True, and it's all too familar with the early days of the PS3 vs. the 360. I specifically remember being pissed off with how my copy of NBA 2K, Madden, and NCAA football looked compared to the 360 version I played at BB or Gamestop. Over time though, the differences were rather minimal. Hopefully, that'll be the case within the next year.

I will say I'm having a difficult time deciding whether to keep the XBox One copy of Madden 25 or exchange it for a PS4 version. So far, I have Forza 5, and picked up Madden because my son loves the game and the next door neighbor kid has a copy for the Xbox One. I figured they'd played online against one another. However, I read quite a few reader impressions that the game looks quite a bit better on the PS4.

This thread has long outlived its usefulness. I suggest several sub-threads to replace it.

1. The PS4 is for the REaL gamErZ. XBone is for people who prefer to game in monochrome. Did you see those benchmarks?!? The guys at 3D Experience Blog did a side-by-side of BF4 and the Xbone was running at 7fps. I threw up from motion sickness just walking by the apartment of a dude who was playing Tomb Raider because the frame rate was so bad.

2. I bought an XBox One and it is perfect in every way and I'm totally not just justifying a consumer choice by overlooking its obvious flaws.

3. I haven't bought either because I'm so much wiser and more frugal than those losers who spent $500 or more on an empty plastic box that does nothing at all. Who do they think they're fooling with all those game purchases, uploaded videos and streaming sessions? That's clearly not fun!

Even though I sense just a teeny bit of sarcasm Rob....... , it would be best to have separate threads for the Xbox One and PS4.

Madden is probably not the game to showcase the differences in graphics between consoles.

The really funny thing is that I almost immediately had buyer's remorse after getting the PS4, wondering if I should have gotten the XB1. I am positive I also would have felt I should have bought a PS4 if I bought an XB1, and that I should have bought a gaming PC instead of buying both. :D

There may not be a truly killer game yet, but as someone with five-year old PC, being able to upgrade my console experience to something in the PC gaming ballpark has been pretty sweet. I have been having a lot of fun playing 64-player Battlefield 4, and I am sure I would be digging Dead Rising 3 if I'd gone the MS route. I am both a gaming and electronics nerd, and owning one of these consoles is fun in itself to me, even if I haven't been really blown away by a game yet.

I have to admit as a glorified Xbox supporter the past 9 years, I'm really feeling like I made the right choice by going PS4 off the bat. I'll still be able to get a lot of the Microsoft exclusives on my 360. They might not look as pretty but I will still have the option. The funny thing is the PS3 was probably the least used game console I've ever owned.

My preference right now doesn't have anything to do with graphics. I think the whole thing is overblown and the gaming media, if there is such a thing just needs things to talk about. Games looked better on the 360 than the PS3 and I don't remember this kind of coverage. I prefer the twitch support on the PS4 and the interface while not perfect is just quicker to get things done.

Having said all that why doesn't the gaming media call both companies to task for all the promised things that are no where to be seen. Remember they said we could watch peoples game and jump in and help them and all sort of other cool s***? These systems may have launched Nov. 2013 but it will be next Holiday before they even meet half of what was promised.

I didn't use my ps3 very much either and we use the heck out of the x360. I'm happy I bought an XB1, it's going to be some time before really good games come out for either system and I don't care one bit about 720p vs 1080p and all that crap.

I have a $500 TV that doesn't have all those fancy numbers and it still looks better than my neighbors $2000 TV.
