Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Can I add an opinion of some who currently owns an XB1 and could own both but decided to get a Wii U instead of a PS4?

He didn't ask for an insane person's point of view. So no.Spooky wrote:Can I add an opinion of some who currently owns an XB1 and could own both but decided to get a Wii U instead of a PS4?

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I got a Wii U bundle brand new from amazon for $149. Nice machine but it's primarily for Nintendo 1st party games.Spooky wrote:Can I add an opinion of some who currently owns an XB1 and could own both but decided to get a Wii U instead of a PS4?
Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I think a strong case can be made for waiting right now. I'm still playing a lot on my 360, and I there is nothing vital on the next gen consoles yet. Forza is great, but it will be there later. NBA 2K14 looks great, but last gen is a more stable product. Sports gaming on next gen is completely uninspiring so far. My most played games, NCAA 14, NHL 14, and MLB 2K13 aren't there, and I still have great action games to finish on the the 360. Plus I'm really liking the new WSOP edition of Full House Poker.Macca00 wrote:To muddy the waters even further;
I have not turned on my XBOX ONE for several weeks since I finished Peggle 2 and that crappy top-down Halo game. I have a $500 Best Buy gift card earmarked for a PS4 but have no interest in picking one up until Infamous comes out and even then I'll probably wait a month or two.
Instead, I'm playing my 360 (Diablo III!!! Ohmigod what a difference direct control makes!!) and my PC. There are some really, really good 360 direct download deals each week on XBL.
I don't retreat getting the One early, because Netflix and Amazon have better interfaces, and the console is million times more quiet than the 360. Having everything (except the 360) on one input is really convenient. They've toned the notifications down, but it s nice to get my XBL messages and notifications that the game I was just downloading or installing is ready to go while watching TV. So I was going to have this eventually, so getting it before there was a critical mass of games has not been a big deal.
But if someone has not jumped in yet, I can't see doing anything until at least March, and probably this summer. The 360 and PS3 have plenty of games still coming. I'm curious if the next Madden and NHL will show up on last gen. It's usually when I need the new version of a sports game that I seriously decide to jump to the next console.

We have a Wii U, too. I want to play it more, but it's not real captivating. I need to just go and buy a Pro controller, and start playing some of the games that support it. I tried out the Deus Ex game on it, and I just didn't feel it at all. I really like a lot of what Nintendo does, but I wish their alternative controller stuff had not made core games less fun to play. I'm sure I'm just old, but I want to play Mario and Zelda with a gamepad.Spooky wrote:Can I add an opinion of some who currently owns an XB1 and could own both but decided to get a Wii U instead of a PS4?

Sorry Macca wasn't directed at you. I know you're a tried an true gamer like myself, we're not monogamous when it comes to our gaming platforms. Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Thanks for all that shared their opinions on their next-gen (even the WiiU) console preferences. I really trust the opinions of the guys here since they are based on good research and not fanboyism (how's that for a word
). I will say that I have been swayed a little from my initial preference of the Xbone to the PS4.
However, I think I will wait to see what my virtual golfing friends go with when The Golf Club is released this spring. I'm hoping that HB Studios pulls off true cross-console play like they are planning on doing. It all depends on if this will be acceptable with Sony and Microsoft.
As 10spro said, I'm also waiting to see which version of NHL15 the Dragons are going with.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I've always been of the mindset that you need to experience, use, see, read or taste something to give an opinion on it. If someone asked me how Tuna tastes I could not give them an opinion because I've never eaten the stuff. Just like I can't give an opinion on the Wi U as I don't own one. Just as I'm sure you can't give an opinion on what it is like to watch a football game soberXXXIV wrote: Id like to know who is giving dishonest opinions? What is this cable news?

Looking forward to downloading this game next weekend.Aristo wrote:I finally spent some real time with Powerstar Golf tonight, and that is a fun game of golf. It far exceeded any expectations I had. The clincher is how well done Rivals Mode is. Plus, I've had no problem accumulating 15K XP to grab packs for free. The game is a ton of fun, and you really only need to spend money on Booster packs if you are crazy impatient.

FWIW, I still have zero desire for either of the new shinies. Just nothing that has drawn me toward them in the slightest. With every passing day, I'm believing more and more that if I never get either...I won't really care.

This is as serious a decision as we will ever make! We (the Dragons) need to have a group discussion before purchasingMERACE wrote:As 10spro said, I'm also waiting to see which version of NHL15 the Dragons are going with.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Community is definitely a factor in decision making. But really, as many (including myself) have said - it really, really boils down to which console will have the exclusives you are more interested in. While the PS4 may have some slight graphical advantages in some 3rd party games, I am not as interested in their exclusives. If I was I'd have for sure returned my XB1 and gotten the PS4 by this point.
While I liked the Uncharted games, I never finished one of them. And I only played one version of The Show and it fell victim to my other sports gaming habits (of not playing at all after the first week or two).
I can't really tell when a framerate is slightly better or textures are better between games, especially when I am not doing any side-by-side comparisons. At 40 years old I am either to old to see it or too old to care. When I read about the performance differences in some of these 3rd party games it bums me out for about 5 seconds and then I don't ever think about it again.
In the end: (for me)
Ryse, Forza, Dead Rising & Powerstar Golf > Killzone, Knack & Resogun
Titanfall > Infamous
Halo 5 > The Order 1886
Gears of War series > Uncharted
Project Spark > Little Big Planet
The neat media features that are included in the XB1 are just icing on the cake.

There is something to be said for the endless number of rednecks streaming them and their friends playing beer pong, smoking weed or making their women do stupid s*** on camera with PS Live.. It's like reality TV 101.Spooky wrote:The neat media features that are included in the XB1 are just icing on the cake.

Cool! The more folks playing this on my friends list the better. There is a lot social stuff that lets you know when you beat the longest drive on hole by people on your friends list, as well as closest to the pin from X yards out and longest putts.sportdan30 wrote:Looking forward to downloading this game next weekend.Aristo wrote:I finally spent some real time with Powerstar Golf tonight, and that is a fun game of golf. Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
We technically own both, although the Xbox One won't be hooked up until this Saturday. I went ahead and purchased it this past week, because BB was offering a year of Xbox Live for $20 along with the console.
I anticipate the Xbox One will be played more than the PS4 for one simple reason....where it's situated. Because it will be in our family room with quick accessibility, gaming will be quick and seamless. The PS4 is in our rather chilly basement, and call me lazy or whatever, but I'm sure most of our gaming will take place on the main level.
I'll still likely purchase multi-platform games on the PS4 and look forward to their titles, but there's quite a few Xbox One exclusives along with XBL games to feel that the purchase of the console feels warranted. Not to mention my son has a neighbor with a Xbox One and another getting one in the very near future, that I'm sure they'll take full advantage of online gaming.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
I own both consoles. The PS4 is tremendous. For games it is an equal to the XB1 in my mind. I love both controllers and, graphically, any advantage the PS4 has is damn near unnoticeable to me. I honestly think too much is being made over specs. What it comes down to (game wise) for me are exclusives. The only exclusive I care about on the PS4 is MLB14 The Show...and that is a big one. Other than that it's all XB1 for me. I use it everyday. Its everything besides the games that make me lean to the XB1. If I had to choose I would choose the XB1. Fortunately I don't have to choose.
