In my experience the PS network has always been slower for things like this. On the PS4 I found it a lot faster than the PS3 days.

My issue with the PS4 downloads is they aren't cued up or pause able. So if you log on and there are 3 updates they all download at once killing your bandwidth and actually making them take longer. Also if you decided to stop one to go play a game or if you shut off the machine you have to start the whole download over.

Ok, thanks for the explanation. Reading between the lines you're pretty much saying the PSN network/servers are sh1t. I really hope they upgrade their network because it's ridiculous to buy a game, have it install under a minute, then wait a FREAKING HOUR for an update to finish. May as well freaking digitally download the thing then.

The Xbox One is much slower than the 360 was when it comes to updates. I'm guessing it has to do with whatever speed you are connecting with, but 360 updates typically took 12 seconds from the moment it told me there was an update to when it was at the same point as when the update began. The One can be a few minutes, and it does not automatically start the game back up.

But installing new games is kind of tortuous on the One, too. You only have to do it once, but it takes awhile, depending the file size. It almost feels like you are downloading the darn game.

Both systems are painful when it comes to installing the games and updates. Welcome to digital distribution/updates. I want cartridges back dammit.

Don't Starve is pretty darn fun. My son had a great, albeit somewhat stressful time playing. He's on Day 5, but he's struggling with his food supply so it looks like death is knocking on his door. Exploration is key and making wise decisions is crucial to making it through another day. The art style is pretty neat as well.

And...it's free.

It's a good enough game but I got bored with it in a week. I'm kind of hoping for more out of next gen then 6-12 month old Indie titles.

I tend to agree. The indie / arcade game thing was nice last gen but I don't think I've really looked at it in 2 or 3 years. For next gen, they need to up the ante. Throwing out crumbs like previous gen isn't cutting it.

That Trine 2 demo for PS4 is fantastic. This will be a purchase for me, perhaps tonight.

I don't have any problem with Indie games if they are new and fresh. So far the PS4 has been recycling the old.

In the case of Don't Starve, I guess it's recycling the old if you've already played it on the PC. I'd venture to guess the majority of PS4 owners haven't. Free is free. I probably won't play it that often after a week, but it'll be fun to pick up every now and then.

Well as you said you would guess, I would guess you're wrong. In my everyone I know outside of this forum games on ever platform available, some of them more than me since I seldom use handhelds.

But let me rephrase. I would like to see some Indies that takes advantage of the new systems, instead of ones that are PC ports. Trine 2 and Don't Starve are good games but they in no way are made for the PS4. In fact since the new systems are so much like a PC I expect to see a lot of ports of what I consider old games.

In no way am I trying to rain on your enjoyment of games you have never played. In all likelihood you will get the best of the best in terms of PC ports. However someone like myself, I'm looking for more. I love how Resgun uses the sound on the controller, while the game is just a more modern day version of Defender it feels new because it uses the systems capabilities if that make sense.

I don't mind indie games, just make them something more like next gen instead of previous gen. I can turn on 360 and find tons of games like DONT STARVE on there.

It's going to be different for everyone and depends on who you are hanging around (for instance, some of you work in IT and probably are more into tech and PCs). I work in Finance and work primarily with merchandisers, lawyers, auditors, accountants, tax professionals, etc and I have never ever heard the word Steam or any talk of PC games. Ever. My kids are in sports and I spend a lot of time with others and we've been to parties and such and I've never ever heard of any talk of PC games or seen anyone playing them. It's all Xbox, Playstation, and iOS. Minecraft, Halo, Lego, Call of Duty, GTA, and the flavor of the month iPhone games. I could probably ask 100 people I know if they ever heard of Don't Starve and maybe 5 would (I hadn't). I made a Diablo reference the other day and got blank stares. There aren't many early adopters out there either in my circle of friends and acquaintances. Despite most being in income brackets in which they could easily afford next gen systems I only know a few that have made the jump despite many of them owning multiple Xboxes, PS3, etc.

As long as they are good and inexpensive I don't mind the indie rehashes because I have a 2008 Macbook Pro that I've upgraded a bit that I hope lasts forever and the cheapest Dell computer I could find at Best Buy for the kids to bang on and to play Strat O Matic and FOF. I haven't played any of these games yet. I'll take rehashes and original games both.

Yeah, I was going to say neither. Last Gen is still better. When you have to pump up playing indie games, pinball, and arcade golf to justify a purchase, it says a lot.

The only next Gen game actually worth upgrading for has been Forza. Otherwise, you can do just as well playing last Gen versions of most games. You are still better off waiting, which is what I said I was going to do. I'm happy enough with the One, but the 360 is still the far better console for sports games.

The most logical choice is neither. I do like both though. If I had to recommend one over the other I'm not even sure what I'd say. It's essentially a tie.

I read that the XBO is the console of the NFL. XBL will have some NFL app if it doesn't already that Sony won't have. But I wonder if this will mean next season that XBO will get NFL Ticket. In the past, didn't Sony have some deal with the NFL to broadcast NFL ticket games on PS3? Maybe it's on it's way for XBO next gen.

XBO already has the NFL app and guess which provider it doesn't work with.... Direct TV.

So I couldn't tell you if it's worth two shits or not.

I have Fios and I tried the NFL app. It didn't seem like anything great. It has the NFL Network and Red Zone, but since you have to sign into the app using your Fios ID I'm assuming you need to have those channels as part of your package to get them. If you have the TV setup then what is the big deal? There are some stats and fantasy but it's nothing you can't get on an iPad and the NFL app seemed a good 3-5 minutes behind the TV.

Works on mine with DirecTV. Did not spend much time with it though, so can't comment on the value of it.....
