Lions fans are dancing on the streets of 8 Mile.ScoopBrady wrote:Damn you, Lions! You were supposed to extend Schwartz's contract not terminate it.
I won't care if he stays or goes but some of this falls on management. I know you will disagree but letting Urlacher go was a mistake and Emery just trying to make a point. While he couldn't play at the same level, although I doubt he could be worse than Bostic. He would of helped out in the transition to new coordinator and alleviated some of the communication problems you mention IMO. This is hindsight on my part, I said it was a mistake when it happened.RobVarak wrote: Before the last two weeks I would have agreed with you about Mel Tucker, but now I've got to say that I'd have no problem with seeing him launched. The playcalling and lack of communication on the defensive side of the ball is not just atrocious, but it also has nothing to do with the talent of the squad. There's no reason for an NFL team to field a defense that is so ill prepared and confused on so many key downs.

I don't think they needed to offer him more but I think the way it was handled they knew he would counter it, any player with an agent would and they quickly moved to distance themselves. I wouldn't consider any part of the way the Bears handled that to be normal.RobVarak wrote:Urlacher would have definitely helped with the organization and preparedness of the defense, but in 2012 he was a shell of the shell he had been for the last several seasons. (Edit: Still probably better than Bostic though, you're right)
Emery did offer him $2m, they didn't let him go. And that was a cool $1m+ more than anyone else offered him, clearly over the market value. How much should Emery have paid him?
Urlacher's a source of constant amusement for me. He's the most disingenuous character to play for the Bears this side of Ditka.
That's Kristin Cavalleri laughing.dbdynsty25 wrote:Obviously its the NFL and doesn't mean much but the Bears signed Cutler for 7 years! Ahahahahahahaha.
As much as I think Cutler is mediocre at best...this is pretty much what it comes down to. But the terms that have leaked are the first three years guaranteed at 18 mil. Sheesh.Brando70 wrote:The odds of the Bears getting a better QB were much less than the Bears getting a worse QB if they let him walk.
My guess is his deal will be pretty similar to Romo's. It's a lot but that's what starting QBs can command.dbdynsty25 wrote:As much as I think Cutler is mediocre at best...this is pretty much what it comes down to. That's an average of $18m guaranteed not an $18m cap hit, which as I said a few pages ago, is the benefit of the long-term deal.dbdynsty25 wrote: As much as I think Cutler is mediocre at best...this is pretty much what it comes down to. Or the Saints simply outplayed the Eagles and it had nothing to do with karma. I could attach the social media argument to literally any issue.Danimal wrote:Philly fans were all over the Chiefs loss on social media.
Karma as they say, is a b*tch.

PS. I'm just annoyed at the Eagles loss so ignore my mild sarcasm
Amen! And the refs just add to the problem by not calling holding or PI 75% of the time. I blame EA for this.XXXIV wrote:Grats to the Saints.
