USA plays at 10:30 am cst today. NHL network is covering the Canada and USA games.
Yeah, exciting stuff for the Juniors. Expect a tougher challenge next game against the Czechs, will be following the progress of Bo Horvat.

USA dominated the Czechs today and moved the puck well as they won 5-1...Looks like the tourney is between USA, Canada, and Sweden.

Does the arbitrator have anything to do with hockey? Can the arbitrator lengthen the suspension? A reasonable person without bias would probably wonder why criminal charges were not filed.
He can't lengthen the suspension and this will be the first case to go to the arbitrator under the CBA. Just interesting that a REPEAT offender gets five games (Neal) for trying to take a player's head off. How does he not get charges filed for assaulting Marchand??

Eichel is a great player but as long as McDavid doesn't turn into a heroin or crack addict in the next year he's got #1 in 2015 already locked up! :P

Reasonable is the keyword. Many hockey "fans" only see their teams colors and nothing else. bettman and the nhl hide behind these "fans".

It's been a fun, whacky World Juniors so far in Sweden as both groups finished their games today. Team Canada was lucky to come out scoreless today against team USA in the 1st period, but played very well the last 40 minutes winning it 3-2 and finishing first in the group. Sweden has been the most consistent team so far as they edged Russia with the same score. With the exception of Germany and Norway, all the other European teams have been improving every year. Quarterfinals start this coming Thursday.

1-1 heading into the 3rd was a Brent Sutter wet dream for that game. Canandians weathered the storm early on and Fucale was awesome. Got a feeling the Americans and Canadians will meet again this weekend. This is the best hockey...I love it.

Canada needs to be better but out of McDavid and Eichel in this tourney, Eichel is a better player in my eyes.

These are the players chosen by team USA for Sochi. How does Poile/Burke leave Bobby Ryan out of this group?

Scott Burnside wrote a good piece at ESPN that included this information:

"The issue is where he fits. If he's not a top-six forward, his skating doesn't really lend itself to him being a third-line checker. He cannot kill penalties, and while in Anaheim, he was not on the team's top power-play unit. 'I think he's sleepy. I think he skates sleepy,' offers one member of the selection committee."

Ryan's offense is very potent. But lazy skaters won't flourish on big ice. The U.S. selection committee saw Ryan as a one-dimensional player, and it's clearly placing a premium on skating and versatility.

I read the same piece PK. It was well done. Ryan is a hell of a scorer though. Still amazing he'll be watching the games from his couch.

Ryan may look like a small fish in a big pond but he can score goals and has been quite consistent at it even when he appears 'sleepy'. I am not quite sure if Backes/Kesler are ready of assuming their first line responsibilities, and a lot of the pressure will be shifted in the shoulders of Parise, Kane and Kessel to lit the red light instead.

Team Canada was announced just moments ago. Would have loved to see Logan Couture but he's to have surgery soon, some guys that didn't make it include C. Giroux and Marty St Louis.

Congrats to guys like Kunitz who's having a great time playing with Crosby and M. Duchene.

Glad to see Suban make it. Maybe this helps him figure out what the first priority of his position should be. Happy for Price but he scares me as always 8)

I dont see leaving off Giroux and Seabrook.

Glad to see them leave off the nhl rink size only lumbering lucic and Thornton. So maybe Stevie Y does have a plan.

No love lost between the Flames and Nucks. One second, five fights. Bob Hartley is a coward.

When two teams are struggling, coaches try different tactics when the X's and O's don't add up. Flames and Canucks were bleeding lately as they squared off at the Rog arena. Not sure if H. Sedin should have started the game with cracked ribs as Hartley starts with his goon line. So perplexed and confused, Tortorella brings the 4th line to square off the Flames threat.

It was supposed to be the debut of rookie K. Lain and he lasted only a second along the street brawl that started the game. Even K.Bieksa took the faceoff instead trying to protect the kid.

So while the brouhaha takes place, the shortened bench tries to play hockey but you know there's another fight every five minutes or so. I was so pissed off with that crap and decided to join the intra squad games with the Dragons.

I always thought that J. Tortorella had a long leash with the league while he was in NY with his stupid antics and temperamental approach to the game and was not on board his hiring. But hey, gotta suck it up as he's hired for 5 years.

Still pissed off with B. Hartley, the coach tries to enter the Flames dressing room, a big no-no. It is actions like this that will eventually hurt the Canucks more than help and he should be suspended if not heavily fined.

An embarrassing day for hockey and 'Nucks fans.
