And you'll pardon me if I don't use the deviants who comprise your social circle as a representative sample of players.

2k has said it's a problem on both platforms (and released patches on both and is readying new patches for both), so I feel pretty comfortable saying it's a cross-platform problem.
I prefer a personal hands on experience over internet information. You know...because everything on the internet is true.

Play it on a real next gen system like the PS4. Works fine. ;)

That said, might just be a router compatibility thing. I've never had network connection issues with mine. What are you using?
I don't think it's a networking issue. Maintaining my XBL connection just fine. Using a Linsksys E4200 that has been outstanding for over a year at least.

And according to several reports it's a cross-platform problem, Mr. Sony Fanboy-san. :)

Rob - I also have an E4200 and do not have the crashes you are experiencing. Firmware is 1.0.05

TCrouch wrote:Welcome to my world last year, I think it was, Leadfoot. What helped me immensely was turning on the play art on the court. Knowing how the play is designed and running what they call helps a lot. And get used to understanding the left stick is your feet, and the right stick is the ball. It sort of makes sense after a bit, where you want to do a stop and maybe spin back away from a defender, and you flick the right stick to the right and then circle it up/down. After a while it's like "damn, it all sort of makes sense".

But other than running the plays they're actually calling, there's not a bunch I've seen that is that magic "ah hah!" moment. From one noob to another, you just have to sort of take your beatings and learn the shot timing and realize you're not going to consistently shut down another good team every time down the court, even on Pro. I'm sure seasoned basketball guys can switch defenses and maintain some vice-like squeeze on the opposing team's offense, but as a newbie, I can't. I just really enjoy how much it seems like basketball when I do fire it up, and in same-couch multiplayer, the game is golden.
Good info, thanks!!

Finally tried "my player" and was surprised how much I enjoy it so far. Also surprised at how far it's come since they first introduced it years ago. The only downside is I was drafted by the Jazz.....

I've got this on the 360 and I have to say it is a blast as well. Haven't played the series in a while but it gives me the one more game feeling.

Now that I have this running smoothly I'm really enjoying it. The myplayer is a lot of fun even though my guy sucks something awful. Switching from the broadcast to the 2k cam has helped a bit. I really wish there was a regular practice mode where I could just mess around with my created player. It seems weird that this isn't an option unless I'm missing it. I jumped into the "park" mode for the first time last night but just wandered around and didn't actually play. Looks cool. Anyone interested in getting a game going in that mode (XB1)?

Best buy will have this for next gen on Sunday for $39.99 so thinking about picking this up.

Does next-gen have the older classic teams like ps3/xb3 have?

Played this on my PS4 today and was really amazed at the graphics and the player interaction. There is a lot more physical presence among the players than last year. I also seemed to get punished more for ill-advised passes. I also like how the AI uses its dominant players -- I started a Bulls GM franchise and the computer kept feeding the ball to LeBron in the opening game against the Heat.

Started a mycareer.. got drafted by the Bucks.. right before the Celtics pick (dammit it) :)

What quarter minutes do you guys use?

The game itself is freaking unreal.. definitely next gen. The way the jerseys move remind me of MLB 2k awhile back.

I've been bouncing between 12 and 10 minutes. If I start getting carried away and shooting too quick, I see the scores jumping pretty high. And my defense is so terrible, it can get pretty ugly.

My Bucks are 2-1 on this young season.. Butler went down in game 3 and I came in for the first time in our home opener, I had 4 points with limited time in the 4th quarter.

I too got drafted by the Bucks. Sorry you didn't get your wish to play with Pressy!

I'm playing on 9 minute quarters. I switch back between My Player and NBA Today.

Game is a blast to play.

Yeah.. I seriously thought I was a Celtic. :) 10 was giving me too low scores.. 12 seems about right so far - at least in mycareer.

I got a PS4 for Christmas and just popped this game in yesterday. Graphically it is amazing, but I am having a hard time figuring things out. Where do you find NBA Today? I can't find it anywhere... And do they no longer have 2k share to download rosters and sliders? I keep searching and can't find these options anywhere.

Thanks.

2K is having issues with the PSN servers. The threads at OS are blowing up. I've had zero issues playing any of these modes on the XBO.

I came in to post this exact thing myself. For the first time (ever, in any NBA2K game), I tried the career thing last night. I love these player modes in sports games, but know almost nothing about basketball so I never tried this one. Holy crap, this is easily the most fun I've had with any of these modes. I was up until 12:40 last night in my first experience. I figured I'd just play a game or something and go to bed, and that was at 10 PM. Instead, I played for almost 3 hours.

But now I'm eager to start over with a guy that I really actually put some planning into. I held my own in that showcase game, with 20+ points and 4 or 5 assists, but I still ended up going in the middle of the first round. The draft thing was amazing. I was laughing at myself, imagining what it must be like for these real athletes, because I was sitting on my couch going "REALLY? They pick that dude? I destroyed him in that showcase game!!!" and just watched as I slid down to pick 15 or 16. It was thoroughly enjoyable, and very immersive.

I can really see putting some time into this, and of course the next thought was "damn...I hope the EA exclusivity expires for NFL, so 2K can do this crap with a football game". It makes Madden's CCM stuff really seem silly and totally bare-bones.
