Gratz to him!
ANYWAY.....
RAMS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!
I never thought I would be happy about a win that gives a 7-8 record but my guys havent had a winning season since 2003....So....anyway....Ill take any win any time.
By the way... Robert Quinn was great today and is a MONSTER! Leads league with 18 sacks and with 7 forced fumbles.
The perfect Russell Wilson record at home is over as the Cards upset the Hawks in a defensive battle. Not without controversy of course as with two minutes to go and SEA with the ball, they get call for an interception when the ball clearly hits the ground first before it gets deflected.
Still, Lynch just couldn't run against the NFL's #1 D against the run and Wilson just had an off day.

I thinks this may actually help your boys. They have that loss out of the way and can playoff focus even better.
Just a feeling.
Having said that . My boys will crush yours next week!
Better next week when we lose the division to the Packers. I was so happy when Conte got hurt, but they got him back in the game.
Bostic, here is something that will explain why I think 98% of Bears fans are meat heads. They wanted this guy to start over Williams after preseason. The only time this guy fills the right gap is if he is blocked into it.
I seriously don't think they will sign Cutler to a long term deal and 6 weeks ago I would of said that was crazy, now I don't know. I would love to know the number of 3 and Outs with Cutler vs McKnown. I don't not want Josh as are QB next year either, that would make me a meat head fan.
They got me, they got me in for one week. I said maybe I will be wrong.... I'm not. From 10-6 to 8-8 and the same result missing the playoffs.

That was a total embarrassment, obviously. There is no aspect of the defense that doesn't need to be broken down and re-tooled. I don't know exactly what to make of Tucker in all of this. Much was made of his flexibility in allowing the Briggs mafia to keep running the show and stick with the 4-3 and base Cover-2, but I'm not sure that it's something that he should be commended for or not. In retrospect, it couldn't have been worse to rip off the band-aid and just put in a new system.
Cutler and McCown are not even two names that need to come up in the discussion of this game. Neither would have fared well under that pressure. That's the worst the OL has played in a while and Forte's blocking was uncharacteristically atrocious. Not just the first sack, but a few other plays saw him just half-ass it out there. I don't think McCown as a statue would have done better than Cutler, who despite popular opinion gets rid of the ball faster than his back-up.
This one is all about the defense.

The defense is horrible no doubt but when your first 3 possessions you run a total of 10 plays, When mid-way through the 3rd quarter you offense has -2 yards in the 2nd half, it's not all about the defense. It was a complete let down by every area or maybe it wasn't maybe this team is even worse than I thought they were.

I do not think the ball "clearly hit the ground" because if it did, it would not have pooped up into the air and back towards the passer like it did. No camera angle gave proof positive that the ball hit the ground, so that is why it was not overturned, Tough call regardless....
That Bears game was just a Full Metal Jacket soap-in-a-sock assault. I hate those games where I blink and the Bears are down three scores.
I agree that the offense was a huge letdown. I fully expected the Eagles to score a lot of points, but being held to three points in the first half was ridiculous.
I am also not sure about bringing Cutler back. If the Bears lose next week, I may be definitely in the let him go camp. He has great physical tools and I also believe he is a tough SOB. However, if there were a re-draft of the league, would he even get chosen among the first 15 QBs? He's been a starter for seven years, and at this point, it's hard for me to believe he will take the next step to being more than an above-average starting QB. That is a very depressing thought.
Franchising Cutler is still the best bet on paper, but it doesn't account for the bad blood it might engender and it would limit the off-season options on defense. I still want to see what he does with a full year of games and practice reps with Trestman, and the franchise tag would let you get a clear picture. I think Emery has made it pretty clear though that he wants a long-term deal so that he can back-load it and free up $ to spend on defense.

If you're going to give Cutler a big contract, probably something in the range of $50 million guaranteed, he should get the team into the playoffs.
It's interesting, Deion seemed to be clamoring for the Bears to play McCown, because he was wondering why the post-game reporters weren't asking Trestman who would start next week.
And there are supposedly whispers that some Bears players wanted McCown to keep starting.
Cutler could make a stronger case for a contract if he beats the Packers, even if Rodgers is playing. Otherwise, the Bears might be feeling like the Lions, as they watched Stafford play like s*** down the stretch.

I wouldn't believe this. That story was reported as unnamed sources with no name on the story. In essence just ESPN making s*** up. How quickly we forget the journalistic prowess of ESPN, the same organization which did a full report on Teo's dead FAKE girl friend.
EPSN is like TMZ, the only difference is TMZ is up front about it.

Actually, it was Jay Glazer at Fox who reported this "story." Glazer has long been a mouthpiece for Urlacher, a close personal friend. Urlacher has been bashing the Bears and Cutler in particular on the air here and through back channels since they low-balled him (in his eyes) last season. I'm sure that the "players" cited in the story consisted of Lance Briggs, Urlacher's best friend and another guy who has been vocal in his displeasure over Lovie Smith's firing.
Basically, it's the braying of dinosaurs caught in the tar pits.

I never saw the quote attributed to anyone. Do you have a link that shows any of what you said? I heard everything you said on Chicago sports talk radio but I attribute that more to pissy fans who are mad at Urlacher for talking. I might be wrong but some place hired him for his opinions right? I mean Ray Lewis got a job and I haven't seen that guy put together 2 coherent sentences yet.

Well it was clearly an off the record quote, but I think the only reasonable deduction is that it was Briggs or another veteran defender close to Urlacher.
Glazer's function as a press agent for Urlacher was documented as far back as his '08 contract negotiations. Glazer got him his gig at Fox and the two were open about it.
Urlacher was on record on the air saying that he thought McCown should start (and his enmity toward Cutler is thoroughly documented). All of the offensive players whom I saw interviewed stated their support for Cutler's return. Could some of them have been saying one thing to Glazer and another on the record? Sure, but that seems far less likely than the alternative. Every interview with Briggs since training camp has had a very thinly-veiled element of discomfort with the Lovie firing and the new regime.
I don't mean to suggest that Urlacher (or Briggs for that matter) is wrong to have said any of these things. I don't really care what either of them thinks and they can certainly say what they want on or off the record. I have no hard feelings toward either. Urlacher was very good for a long time, then not good anymore. He's gone. He can say what he wants. I certainly don't care what anyone else on the defense thinks about anything, since most of them don't belong in the league in any event.
But I think it was pretty irresponsible of Glazer and Fox to suggest in the televised Glazer piece that there was a widespread discomfort with Cutler's return. I think you need to have multiple sources (and probably one or two on the record) before you want to characterize the mood of a locker room the way they did.

I don't disagree and it pretty much sums up my thoughts it was just someone trying to make up a story. The fact it comes from Fox shouldn't be shocking to me, I mean they make up 95% of their news so why not their sports as well.
