Count me in. My guy is rated a 83 I think? Have played a lot of drop in games on xbone and 360 since I couldn't get an invite to the 360 club. But not all my stats carried over because I was up to 85 on the 360 and started out a 78 on the xbone version.

So my pro was imported along with his customization, but none of his stats, traits etc. What's odd is that the traits that I had unlocked were checked as being acquired but also marked as locked lol Back to 76. :(

The good news is that I was able to buy up a few boosts in the catalog. Bad news is that I reminded myself I'd rather practice dentistry on myself than play a drop in game. I don't know how you guys do it.

I was just going to comment that I've had *really* mixed feelings on Drop In games.

Firstly, I *do* believe I found myself in one drop-in on your side where we won 1-0. I did not realize it was you until way late in the match. That was a positive match for me (hopefully it was not one that you scorned :P ).

But the next few matches were wildly inconsistent and topped off by a *terrible* game. I'll be the first to admit I'm a casual footie fan, but the last game was *brutal* with some dude spamming offside trap on *every* play that went my team's defense's way, to the point I watched three defenders stand statuesque as volley after volley went overhead for 2 and 3 on 1's.

It was also marred by a constant visible offsides line, which I must guess goes along with the OT?

Also, I guess the default chat includes both squads? Because the other guys were self-congratulating after every silver platter chance.

I was a little bummed in one match where we lost a guy to a red card, and I managed to score a man down to draw within one, but did not receive credit for the goal in the accomplishments for shooting. It'll be hard enough to level up without miscounting something as important as a goal scored.

I'm going to take a break for now and will look for you all later, if I manage to stay awake. Was up *way* too late last night :P

Fun last night, guys. Bad football, but lots of fun. :)

Zeppo is definitely right. The game is much more responsive online than the 360 version. A much less frustrating experience.

Looking forward to more club games.

I've got this game and get so frustrated with it. I'm new to the series and just can't get to the level where I feel like I'm competing. I like a lot about it but just don't know if I want to keep taking beatings. I'm on the fence about keeping it at this point.

What difficulty level are you playing at? Try playing at the lower difficulties until you get a handle on how to score. In my experience, it plays a very good game of football, so many of the strategies that would be used in real life can work in the game.

There would be a hundred clichés I could throw out, but maybe "short short, long" is a good place to start. Also "let the ball do the work" i.e. pass rather than dribble - the ball moves much faster than a man can run, so if you pass to get up field or switch the attack from one side to the other, you will open up more spaces in the defense, stretch them out and cause them to lose their shape.

Another thing to do as a beginner is use a much better team against a crappy team. Stay away from the turbo button as much as you can - it more often than not causes you to give the ball away easily. Also, use a lot of one-twos to get guys free behind the defense. When I play online in ultimate team. I am a one-two freak, practically spamming it every time I get around the opponent's box.

Scored a beauty with Vidal tonight. A wicked, swerving 25-yarder from open play.

I've never purchased a FIFA game in my life, but for some reason I figured I'd give it a shot on the PS4.

Yeah, I suck. I don't understand soccer at all, and based on Zeppo's comments, I'm guilty of the "turbo" mentality. But I lost that opening game that you play, where they don't give you controls or anything. Talk about bewildered. You fire up a game, and it instantly throws you on the field, and you're moving guys around (and apparently switching automatically) immediately with no tutorial or anything.

This thing must be hardcore! If the first game they throw you into on (presumably) low difficulty is any indication, I'm horrendous. I gave up a goal almost immediately. I can't even tell when they're breaking past me. They seem to get passes behind my defense all the time, yet I pass to a guy that is offside (I think that's the reason, where he's half a foot behind the back defender?) repeatedly.

I think it's probably a fun game, but damn...it's a bit hard to get into as a total noob, so I feel you, Diablo.

You were probably playing a Match Day Challenge. Sometimes it drops you in at a significant point in the game and you have to recreate the moment or prevent it, but even on that, it gives you the 'Difficulty' option. Did you choose 'Amateur'?

Try 'Kick Off' and just play a regular 'Friendly' on a low difficulty level. You can also go into Settings and adjust User and CPU sliders. Give yourself a little advantage until you become more comfortable with the controls. It's a fun game, once you get used to it.

I was annoyed to discover you cannot create Custom Offline Leagues and Tournaments in the PS4 and XBone versions.

In the PS3 and 360 versions, this is found in the + More section. No dice for next gen. :(

I didn't choose anything, or get any options. When the game finished, it said "FIFA is now installed!" so I'm sure it was like NBA2K where it lets you play a predetermined game while the rest of it installs, I don't know?

I was laughing with my wife (she questioned my sanity buying a game about a sport I don't care about at all) when I looked at the guy on the cover and went..."You know, sports usually put really big stars on their covers. I can see a game of Madden and instantly know who that is on the cover, because they're an All-World superstar. That being said, I have ZERO idea who that dude is on the screen right now" as the game loaded.

Then the commentators said it was a championship match, so I don't know what the teams were. But I know that in Madden you can put me on Pro difficulty and I'll wallop the Canton Hall of Fame players with the Jaguars (not on All-Pro anymore, though), so I would think that on whatever the default difficulty is, I could compete in Soccer.

Nah, not so much. Got my ass kicked

I'll have to dig into the game now that I have an actual menu and can look around. It just feels like playing a Japanese import game. Teams I'm unfamiliar with, names I don't know, and a bunch of terms that might as well be in another language.

That guy in the cover is a little dude, 5.6' maybe 5.7' that was drafted when he was only 10 or so and is about to win another golden boot. But yeah, your wife is right, his name is Leonel Messi and he happens to be the best footballer in the world, although another dude from Portugal doesn't think so.

Regarding the sprint button, it's not that you can't use it, just don't keep it pressed all the time. Use it to try to take a step or two advantage over your marking man, and let go. Having it pressed continuously will only drain your player and keep short passes to your team. Pass it backwards if you have to, the whole idea is to create some opening space towards the goal.

Here's a link I found that may help you to get a good start:

After tonight, I'm going to be heading to my Dad's place near DC for the holidays, so I will be in 360-only land and without the Xbone until after New Years.

And so I'd really enjoy playing some FIFA Clubs games tonight if there are others willing. We are probably going for drinks after work, but I don't intend to stay too late. Of course things could go all pear shaped at work and I could be stuck getting home much later than I'd like, but I'm expecting I'll be ready to play around 10:30 or 11 pm est. Who else would be able to play tonight?

Well obviously that didn't happen. We went a bit later than anyone expected thanks to having to reshoot an "intimate" scene from yesterday that was messed up. And then we had a grand old time at the bar for our last day of 2013, a nice commingling of the crew over beers.

More FIFA on Xbone in 2014.

That used to happen on 360 now and again. Also sometimes in drop-in games you'll be controlling a random player instead of your pro.

PS4 Version : I've played the hell out of the 360 version so initially I wasn't impressed, but when you get into the game it is just so much smoother. I put the 360 one back in and I just can't go back. The next gen version is a good solid foundation for this series to grow in the next 3-4 years. And the World cup game will be out this Summer for next gen too.

Only downside is I have to start over in FUT. But that's ok, I don't mind, I really enjoy the mode.

Anyone else having problems launching the game today? As soon as the 'Autosave' feature is advertised, it kicks me back into the X1 interface. Weird.

I read that before that there is a bug in the game that does that on both systems. I think you need to just reboot your system.
