The fake boxes in Best Buy are green. The retails are black from the five I've seen in person.
The Day One edition has a black box, I think the standard's is green.

AH, ok...sorry. I was just very curious in what people were seeing, as I hadn't tried any games with the XBO yet. And I have them on identical TV's side by side, so I'm one of those dorks that will notice the tiny sh*t like that.

That's going to be the first game I play in a couple hours. I was so pumped for that, so for reviews to be so horrid really put a damper on my enthusiasm. I'm just stunned that between 2 consoles launching a week apart, we didn't get a good old fashioned "swords and knights" RPG to play on either one.

I've read a number of forum posts from people who went ahead and got Knack despite the bad reviews so I wouldn't be deterred by bad reviews, if you think the game is worth checking out.

Normally I'm not, but when they say the entire game is 6 hours long and repetitive--that's crazy. If it gets repetitive in a campaign that short, the gameplay has to be as shallow as a kiddie pool. But then again, some of the games I've loved in the past are shallow like that, which is why I kept it anyway. I can imagine the gruesome kills will be cringe-worthy, and that's what I signed up for. If I find somebody else that got it, I'd love to try that gladiator co-op mode, too.

Don't have time yet to post very thorough impressions but wanted to do a couple quick updates:

-So far, voice commands are working for me 95% of the time. I'm impressed so far and was expecting to be let down by the voice stuff.

-Skype woks really, really well. I Skyped with Soupa Mac and he said the quality from my end looked really good and the carmera follow and zoom was amazing.

-Machine is very quiet.

-REALLY wish the Kinect cable was longer or that there was an extension cord available. I have my TV mounted on top of my fireplace and the Kinect on the mantle. All wires go up and behind the wall then down to the left. I need a 15' cable. I think the Kinects is 9'.

LOVE the UI. As others are saying, I'm getting very good results with the voice commands. Set up my TV (Comcast) and everything went perfectly. It recognized my TV and Cable Box instantly. I set up my favorites and went to work. It's really very cool stuff. Haven't even played a game yet :)

Voice controls are spotty for me. Maybe I have to get used to what I can/can't say. Other simple stuff like watch MSG, gave me MSNBC.

Some questions:
- after starting watch TV, is there a way to turn off TV or do you just switch to another app or game?
- if you are installing a game disc, will it continue installing when I shut off the console?
- have you been able to get the console via Kinect to turn off (or on) your cable box or AV receiver?

Smooth so far. Voice commands working well. Integration with the tuner/DTV box was seamless. FIFA14 installed and ran great. Only problem is they've changed the ports and I've got a strict NAT setting. Need to iron that out. Also, the install of NBA2k is taking forever...I'm guessing because of server issues. Everything else that I've downloaded has been fast.

Pete, if you add channels to your favorites they get recognized easier. I was trying to watch Comcast Sportsnet but the ONE wouldn't recognize it. Once I added it to favorites - BOOM. To add a channel to favorites just hit the A button when you are on the channel in the OneGuide.

FYI, if you want everything (TV, Cable Box, Audio Receiver) to turn off with voice commands you need to set it up in Settings. I think it's under SETTINGS>TV & ONE GUIDE>POWER SETTINGS. By default the console is the only thing set up to turn off when you say "Xbox Turn Off". There is also a setting in there to turn on or off everything when you say "XBox On".

I don't get it. What's going to make the 'new' version different? Maybe no Kinect??? That way it would be $399 as compared to $499. If so I guess that is a good move to get right with Sony on the price front.

I picked up my Xbone at Best Buy after work (the clerk said it was crazy there last night) and also took advantage of the TRU deal where you buy 3 games/accessories and get a $50 gift card. I bought 2 controllers and Forza and will use the $50 towards another game. In 33 days we will get to play it. In the meantime I am looking forward to all the impressions!

A few initial impressions an hour or two after getting my XBone all set up, and contrasts against the PS4...

The interface, while at times confusing, is excellent and feels more compete than the streamlined Ps4 interface (but the Ps4 wins on speed).

The controller is great, arguably better than the PS4 due to the 'impulse triggers', but the PS4's standard headset jack and ability to output game audio therein wins on controller features.

Voice controls are cool, and have worked for me 95% of the time. BUT, I feel silly using them and the wife already put the kibosh on it because she said it's just annoying to listen to me yell at the TV.

YouTube is on board (thought I read it wouldn't be there for launch), and the interface is great.

Forza is beautiful and fun. Really looking forward to digging into it.

Kinect (based on quick play of the Sports demo) is amazingly more accurate, you can sit and steer with accuracy, and it recognizes a closed hand from an open one. Excited to see what this could bring.

POTENTIAL DEALBREAKER- TV does NOT pass through when the Xbox goes into Standby. This is a BIG DEAl and a big mistake as it means the XBox must be ON to watch TV, and that you will always have to hit 'enter' to get the full screen view of TV, even if you just want to use your DVR like you normally would. This means your WIVES, if anything like mine, will object to the XBox' role as a media controller because they don't want to talk or go through extra steps just to watch TV! Big mistake Microsoft!!,

The PS4 is the better GAMING system right now, but it's not a gigantic chasm. The XBox one is full of cool ideas! ample potential! and decent launch games like Forza.

I've mostly seen people without XB1's posting about problems that people with consoles. I've yet to see any of the journalists I follow on Twitter one up with a bad unit, not anyone in forums I frequent. So, I'm pretty sure the Xbox One has a failure rate of about 6.37%.

I'm just lucky that mine has been perfect.

Ditto this for me. I don't even know if it is the sort of thing that can be patched. Although, the OS *is* active in standby in order to listen to Kinect. Maybe the can add it.

If not, I'll have to get a splitter and run the DTV output both to XBO and the way it's always been...

Xbox One sells over 1 million consoles in 24 hours

Not to be outdone by the PlayStation 4 selling one million consoles in just 24 hours, Microsoft announced today that the Xbox One also achieved the 24 hour, million console milestone.

In a press statement, Xbox stated that the over one million consoles have been "sold through," meaning that the number reflects sales to consumers, not shipments to retailers.

I started reading the comments after the article

Drink, eat and make merry cause its over.

South Park with its Game of Thrones/ Black Friday /Console wars has understated it.

I have no idea how anyone can say they think the ps4 is superior from a build and design point of view. Sure it is smaller and lighter and has the psu build in but just from an asthetic point of view I like the One quite a bit better.

The wife found out about Skype over the Tv in high def and I'm pretty sure she doesn't care about anything else and wants to keep it no matter what. Haha. It's all about finding the right box to tick for the wife and she is all in on both systems. Haha.

Because I am the eternal jinx, one of the guys in my NCAA dynasty just had his One stop reading discs. Sigh…

Watched some TV tonight. While I have no idea why they thought the One Guide was necessary, the fact that I have voice control over my TV and Receiver is pretty friction' cool. Still use the remote to FF through commercials, but pause and mute are both functions that are nice to have without the remote. I really can't believe how simple it was to set up my TV, receiver, and DVR.

I also watched some of the Kansas fame on ESPN3, and it is one hell of a lot nicer to just say, "Watch ESPN" versus turning on the 360, and waiting for it to load and find the app. And it was nice to jump back into TV and the console during commercial breaks without feeling like I could not get back to the game. This is the stuff that made it worthwhile to adopt early, even if the games are totally there yet.

And really, there are games. BF4 looks light years beyond anything I saw on the 360. Madden actually feels good. But I probably would have bought both for less. But I got them on disc and will trade them each in at some point. Forza, AC4, and probably Zoo Tycoon will all get downloaded at some point. I'll probably wait for a sale on ZT, but jump into Forza and AC4 sooner. And Killer Instinct is FTP, and looks to worth spending some $$$ on.

I really can't wait to see NHL 15 next year.
