I feel the same way. In fact, I almost canceled the PS4 pre-order just because I had zero faith in the controller. I absolutely hated the DS2 and DS3 because of their cheap feel that got progressively worse as you used them and their horrible thumb sticks and triggers. Turns out I was completely wrong. I love the DS4. Slightly smaller than the Xbox One controller and seems to fit my hands quite a bit better (based on my Best Buy hands on, so admittedly very little time). We'll see after I get more time with the X1 controller this weekend, but right now I think the new DS is a ridiculously huge improvement that is overlooked by most.

That said, the giant light on the front has GOT TO GO. So distracting sitting in a dark room and seeing it glow on the glossy boarder of my TV. That is the worst idea ever.

I stayed the course. Just couldnt justify it at this time. I only want one game and thats Forza5. Coulnt see spending over $600 to play a racing game :P

Still not out of the woods as the inner geek is thiking of things to trade and things to sell.

Looking forward to hearing the XB1 impressions from you lucky dudes that will have it up and running.
Yeah, tough decision for sure. Helped that I was sitting on about the purchase price in Amazon GCs and Credit Card Cash Back.

I probably didn't *need* to get in this early, but was starting to feel the pull.
The pull is VERY strong.

In theory I want to keep it to play a couple games that won't be available for the One (Splinter Cell is an example). But in reality, I'm pretty sure that thing won't get turned on at all once I have the One in the house.

Sigh...well that didn't take long...

I'm gonna close down the bar alone if I have to. I'm not wasting 500 bucks on a new console with a limited library and even more limited 'day one' features when I have a 300 dollar console with a near-unlimited library of great games, a still-three-year cycle, and more tested and refined overall experience. This cloud thing is looking like a sneaky way to release an unfinished console and add crap later. So I'll get one later...when they add everything they promised.

There's about a 90% chance I sell mine next week as I really don't need both consoles (nor will the wife likely let me keep both right now). Still need to try it out though so I give it a fair shot. So if you're interested... :)

After reading the controller posts ...I may be leaning PS4.

Seriously. I know Terry doesnt race with controllers but I do. Are they analog sticks up to par with 360s?

You really had to know this was coming. No one is going to hang around and play last gen games for too long. It's not in our DNA. Especially around here when the next best thing is right around the corner. I'm probably worse than most in that regard, but it's in our DNA. And given this is an older crowd with a bit more disposable income than the normal teenage or college kid, we can jump quite a bit faster. Just a nature of the biz.

Absolutely. In fact, as Terry mentioned, the X1s sticks seem too loose compared to the DS4. And the triggers are MUCH nicer than they used to be.

Anyway...great news on controllers from the Live crowd.

Since we all play 360 Dragons anyway for this year ...Wont need Live for another 10 months 8) ....Im thinking Ps4? to start?

I need to go and hold the baby in my arms for my self.

I'm still sticking to my feeling that the XBone is going to be the one most (not just us) go with...just like last gen. I love it that the PS4 is legit this gen. Just didn't hang with the Xbox last gen. If it weren't for The Show I would've never owned one. The Uncharted series is great but I would have survived without it.

I think I'm getting to the point where I can find more useful purposes for my disposable income. In all honesty, the 360 might just be my last hurrah. We ARE older, and have more things to take our time, and the community has gotten more and more fractured from the days of epic Tuesday Poker Nights, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six 3, and Island Thunder, when we'd get 16 guys playing and 5 or 6 waiting to get in.

Outside of the Live DSP community, I really have zero drive to get yet another system. If these two consoles don't further fracture the community, I might see myself getting one or the other IF there's more of a consensus, and if it turns out that this helps us coalesce the online community more than it has been. I mean, GTA was going to be EPIC, and most all of us were buzzing about it, and still, it's hard to get enough people to fill half the spots in a game...sixteen is damn near impossible.

Still, I've never bought a launch console, and have never understood the early adopter stuff. There's just not that much to be excited about with either console for the money they're asking.

Eh, well. We'll just wait and see, but I am just not that enthused about this cycle like I was the last. Maybe that's the old man in me trying to tell me something...who knows...

That's the one part of the XB1 controller I think they nailed--the triggers are way better than the 360s. Hard to explain exactly why--maybe it's throw range, or resistance, I don't know. But something is different there, and I really liked those.

Not sure if it was posted earlier or not in this thread.. but there is a new PS4 update.. 1.51 - no details when you try to get them before the update.

323MB - I sure hope Sony doesn't do updates as often as they did for the PS3.

Well, for what it's worth, I hope you do get one sooner rather than later. Some good times with you in OFP, BF4 and GTA...among others. Don't make me give you a pep talk. :)

It's how they are slightly curved upwards at the bottom...makes it quite a bit harder for your fingers to slip off. They just feel more natural, like where your fingers would be placed.

Actually I just figured out what it was when talking to Alex...the triggers have an angle to them, which lets them rest in that last knuckle on your index fingers. Not the outward curve like I *think* you're talking about, but I did notice that, too. When you pull the trigger, it's your intermediate and distal phalanges on your index finger that pull the entire trigger, and that makes it more comfortable over longer sessions when you're racing and have some of those "finger on the trigger non stop" sections on certain tracks.

Guaranteed that elevates the XB1 controller way above the 360 controller for racing games alone.

Well I just got a new 360 today because I plan on keeping mine for the long haul, if anything once I have a new system it will kept to use as a media center extender as my tv shows get recorded on my computer and streamed to the 360 and neither the PS4 or Xbox One will have a media extender. Also have a ton of Rock Band songs and games downloaded that won't be on the next gen systems, and of course NHL 14 looks better on the current gen systems right now anyhow.

MS reportedly spent $100 million on the design of the X1 controller, probably because of some fanciful features which didn't make the final cut:
