An it just became as expensive as an XB1 :)
Hopefully the surprise 11pm Sony announcement isn't about them not allowing trade in games now :-)

"Microsoft announced today that Xbox Live Gold members will receive free access to select Xbox One games on a monthly basis starting in 2014.

The announcement expands Microsoft's current Games With Gold program, which gives XBL Gold subscribers free copies of featured Xbox Live Arcade and Games on Demand titles monthly. Originally launched as a limited-time promotion, Games With Gold has since been extended indefinitely as an "ongoing benefit" for Xbox Live Gold members."

The Best Buy preorder experience was great. Home by 12:07. Installing update now...almost done. Can't stay up too late though.

Well that's good. Glad I didn't bet on there being some gigantic shortage. Wonder if there will be for the One.

Edit: All gone. LOL. That was quick.

Sitting here waiting at BB ready for 12:01. There were about 20 pre orders and 40 or so without. They got in a fairly large amount. I'd say around 70.

Servers must be flooded because I can't sign in to PSN. Gonna play some NBA 2K14 in the meantime.

Was out of my Gamestop by 12:03.

Downloaded the update in less than a minute (so the servers weren't dead for West Coasters), and I ended up getting Madden, AC4, CoD Ghosts, Killzone, and NBA2K for now.

Quick impressions....

- UI is very nice. It's smooth and very fast. Similar to PS3 UI, but more professional

- Quitting a game is super quick. Love that feature. Back to the menu in a blink.

- System is somewhat loud when first booting up a new title. After the install though, it's very quiet. It has such an elegant look to it.

- Not a chance I can go back to the PS3 controller. New controller just feels much better. Maybe because they increased the width, but it just feels really nice in my hands. Very comfortable. Interested to see how it does with shooter and racing games. It's lighter than I thought initially. Definitely not as heavy as the 360 controller.

- NBA 2K14 took over 30 minutes to install. Was only allowed to play Heat vs Spurs with no audio and limited features during that time. Listened to some nice tunes provided by 2K. Game is as advertised. Looks amazing and should be a must own. Can't wait to really take time to take everything in.

- Fifa installed in less than 10 minutes. Gameplay is smooth and really has made some great strides. Most noticeable is the AI decision making. Love that the gameplay is seamless when the ball goes out of bounds. No more fade to black. Looks and feels like a professional soccer game. Visuals while not on par with 2K14 are still very nice. Next gen is just so clean and crisp.

- Finally was able to access PSN and got my free 30 days of Playstation Plus.

- Downloaded Resogun, DC Online, Contrast, and one other game for free.

- Resogun is really fun. Great arcade action. Haven't tested the other games yet.

Hope all your launch systems arrive safely and enjoy.

I'll echo almost everything sportdan said...those were even the two games I played last night. The system is so compact and it's amazing that there is no brick needed. NBA2K14 looks even better than I anticipated. FIFA isn't bad either. My biggest disappointment was the install times. I was really surprised by that. The DS4 is as good as advertised. It is so cool that you can plug in regular headphones (I was using ie2) and the sound quality was more than adequate. The UI is a lot better than PS3 but I think is going to still lag substantially behind Xbone....at least for my personal preference.

That's a cool feature re: the DS4 and headphones. It's also nice to hear that none of you guys have had BLOD PS4's

Agree Leebo about the interface. It's simple yet very clean and smooth. Nothing too exciting about it (but there's a lot for me to explore), but I really like how it's basically a no frills experience. First and foremost, it's a gaming machine. I have no doubt that Xbox One's UI will have more functionality and be more attractive. For me, I just want to game and I don't think the PS4 disappoints at all.

So......tired....

Midnight pickup went well. It was right around the corner from me, so I was home by 12:25am. Not bad.

The initial install didn't take long. Nice UI as mentioned.

First impressions of the DS4 are amazing. Sits perfectly in my large-ish hands.

And again, like the above posts, I had to wait 30 min. or so for NBA to install. The demo mode they let you play is pretty bare - no announcers, cut-scenes...still looks great, but wasn't the first experience I was looking far. No worries, plenty of gaming to come I guess.

I actually tried to stay up to play a quarter or so after the install, but as soon as it ended, I was popped right into the "create my player" setup. I think it's mandatory (could be wrong, as it was 1:30). At that point, I turned off the system and called it a night.

Next gen is here, and I'm tired but happy :D

My son and I walked into Best Buy this AM at 10am and walked out with a PS4. No pre-order either.

I picked mine up last night. Best Buy did a great job at organizing the pickup at my location. Easily over 100 folks. You could browse and buy accessories and games early, pay for everything including the system, wait in line again, then just wait in line until Midnight, when they just started throwing systems at everyone!!

I got there around 11:45, was out by 12:17, and I was towards the end of the line, so they moved it quickly!

Only bad thing about getting there so late is a lot of the games were wiped out, so I didn't get the ones I wanted yet.

The lines and demand were more than I expected, honestly.

Other random impressions:

--Really like the new Dual Shock!

--Patching actually didn't take me too long at all

--Couldn't log into PSN. Tried for around half an hour.

--Other than perhaps the dual-shock, there was nothing at all 'exciting' about this system launch for me. While I expected this, and it may be more of where I am as a video gamer than what Sony is offering, it was still a little disappointing. Glad I got one for the family for the holidays, but last night felt more like an errand than anything else.

I'm still excited for an Xbone and glad I didn't fall for the midnight Amazon deal of a PS4 and a Kindle for $600.

I am on my way to pick up my pre-order. If anyone has tried Killzone, I'd like to hear from you as the lukewarm reviews has me inching for another title.

I just got an email from someone on CL wanting to buy mine.. I was hoping no one would want it.... Will see how it goes.. I can't turn down easy money.

Even offered to throw in the 2 games I got at target for $50 each.. (that way I would get GTA for $26)..... :(

This is gonna be a long day. UPS has mine held at the facility (per my request so it doesn't sit in front of my house all day), so now the work day is the only thing getting in my way. Dammit...why do I have to work? Oh yeah...to pay for these toys. Ugh.
