XBox One AND PS4 Discussion

Well, my Gamestop always takes incredible care of me (they laughed when they said the only person they ever saw with a higher Power Ups Rewards Points total than me was an employee that got 100,000 free at some event), and they said they can give me a PS4 if I come down and do the pre-launch thing tomorrow before 6PM.

So I can just walk in and grab one, which is what I wanted. I grabbed Assassin's Creed 4 and Madden, and I'll pick up my console tomorrow night at midnight

I'm curious if I'm going to get a tracking number.

I can't even find the order when I log on to BB. But I've had to call them a couple of times and they do have it in the system they say.

Not sure if you were referring to me or not. I'm doing in store pick-up tomorrow at midnight. Crossing my fingers it goes smoothly and swiftly.

I chose ship to home for my PS4 and Xbox One preorders from BB. I don't mind waiting a few extra days to avoid a trip to the store and the crowds.

I saw enough that I'm not going to keep the game. Limited commentary improvement, repeated cut scenes, QB's that look one direction and immediately without hesitation throw the other direction, similar tackling animations, a game that looks and plays very much like the PS3 version with a fresh coat of paint, etc. etc. I'm just not feeling it. I was semi-happy with Madden 25 on the 360, but I got bored with the game after a week. I'd rather pick up another game or invest in another controller.

I feel I got burned by EA Sports in 2006 when I bought Madden at launch, that I'm not going to support them this go around, or at least until they really show significant improvement.

All that said, I'll be the first person at Redbox renting this game.....for at least a day.

Yeah, I'm taking Friday off work as I have some days to use up before the end of the year. I'm definitely excited about the launch of the PS4, but dreading going to BB at midnight. I just feel like it's going to be a big freakin' mess!

Ah yes...the whole reason I ordered via Amazon. No lines, no mess, can cancel up until ship date, etc. That said, mine just shipped. So obviously I don't get it until Friday evening when I get home from work, but whatever. No dealing with the crazies.

I was looking into this and I don't think so...at least not without some rigging. I just got a Vizio sound bar that I want in front of my TV (where I'd normally have Kinect) so I need a mount. There is one (linked below) coming out in early December. I'll be grabbing it when it comes out. $19.99.

Alright, I'm going to say it...I'm f@cking pumped for these launches. All the talk is finally coming to an end. It's been a long while since I've fired up a new console (2006 I think) and I'm ready to get this s*** going. Like many of you, I love this stuff and in the next week and a half we will get to experience the two big boys new beasts. They will be our vehicle to interact in our little 'DSP World' over the next 5 to 8 (?) years. I'm sitting here checking my online bank account every 30 minutes to see if Amazon had charged it yet . Yeah, that's Geek o Rama at its best. Looking forward to the experiences that begin Friday. As you were fellow geeks

Nice! Glad to hear you were able to snag one. Think I'm going to return Madden and pick up Assassin's Creed 4 afterall. From everything I've read and viewed, this is one of the best looking next gen game out there. Plus, I'm jonesing for a great single player experience. And this has gotten stellar reviews.

I went that way too. AC looks to be awesome. I almost went with Madden but just didn't pull the trigger. Looking forward to Killzone too.

I stopped by Best Buy tonight on the way home. It is only 2 miles from my house. They told me that for pre-orders I should get there between 9:30 and 10. At 10 they will begin processing my order and that I will be given a ticket. He said I would be free to leave at that point if I want to. Starting at 12:01 I can exchange the ticket for a console and he said I should be out of there shortly after midnight.

If I decide to keep the PS4, I've gotta decide between AC and BF4...hmmm. F it, I'll just get both I'm sure. Haha. Renting Madden and Fifa because my hopes are not that high.

Polygon is streaming live until midnight (link below). They are playing Madden and, graphically it only looks slightly better but the animations are noticeably better. Players don't 'skate' all over the place. When feet go down they "dig in". Overall I wasn't too impressed. I think they are going to look at some Indie games at 8pm EST.

I got an email saying to pick up your preorder at the midnight opening. However, I think they were trying to get you to place an order. There was no specific mention of my existing preorder.

They just opened up a brand new MS store near my neighbourhood and after picking my kid from school we were on our way to get some ice cream when I see about 6-8 people lining up to try the Forza 5 demo. My intent was to simply try the controller but soon enough the line up got thinner and I was able to try the demo as well.

It was played on a gigantic theatre screen and the game looked fabulous. To my surprise the controller seemed lighter than the current one , more comfortable and dare I say smaller around the handles? Based on the pics, I had the impression that it was slightly bigger than the current one but overall, it felt very nice with the triggers and the analogs sticks had the extra rubber feel around the edges which supposedly helps you from losing your grip.

The demo was set at just one lap per trial per customer, and I am just glad that I have it pre-ordered. The cockpit view was amazing and probably the only view that I'll play on.

Madden is hot garbage, I've watched several streams now and shame on EA for not showing gameplay and holding people off on reviews. They are counting on people ability to have no willpower and buy the game. Friday is going to be ugly for EA Sports once the reviews start coming in.

Not doing much for me to upgrade to PS4....
