PS4 at launch, Xbone probably will come into my house when my kids get it. (First game console I am 'ceding control of' to my children)

Re: Xbox One AND PS4 Info
Neither console at launch and highly doubt I will get either anytime soon since I am in West Africa, Latin America, and the Gulf of Mexico 60% of my time these days......I will consider the best one when/if there is a compelling sports game (Golf is my game of choice) available that takes advantage of the new hardware. This will be the first console launch other than the 3DO and PS3 that I have not purchased on launch day. I believe both MS and to a lesser extent Sony have really shortchanged their offerings in the rendering department with their hardware choices, especially the GPU's.
Anxious to read the feedback from the early adopters though.....

Re: Xbox One AND PS4 Info
I am sitting this launch out. Not really out of lack of excitement exactly, as I can feel that new system bug creeping (especially after seeing the NBA 2k14 trailer). But I don't think I could make a definitive choice right now because both machines have a lot of pros and cons. I could buy both, but I'd rather just pick one or put the price of both toward a PC gaming rig.
I'm actually a little disappointed to not be jumping in, even though it's probably for the best right now.

Well that's one good reason to go Xbox One.dbdynsty25 wrote:Of course hectic multiplayer matches have nothing to do with the horrible PlayStation network latency and not graphical horsepower but that's not mentioned.
Despite resolution difference, the BF4 videos are close enough for me, I'd be happy playing either next gen console vision. I agree with this guy, http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/10/o ... tion-wars/
NBA 2k14 is 1080p on both. After examining all the available evidence, it seems clear that the PlayStation 4 versions of launch games like Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts enjoy a slight graphical advantage over their Xbox One cousins. It also seems equally clear, to me, that the difference just isn't that big a deal—unless you plan on playing games while looking through a magnifying glass.

If you care about online, absolutely. I don't really. If I do, I'll just use my 360 (F1, BF4, etc.).Pete1210 wrote:Well that's one good reason to go Xbox One.dbdynsty25 wrote:Of course hectic multiplayer matches have nothing to do with the horrible PlayStation network latency and not graphical horsepower but that's not mentioned.

Re: Xbox One AND PS4 Info
Nice to hear some developer love for the PS4 after what seemingly was not the case for the PS3. Granted this was an interview from a Playstation Blog.....but I'm happy to hear it's actually easy to develop for. I just remember all the negative press the PS3 got because of how difficult a system it was to program. I imagine we won't see much difference between the two consoles when it comes to third party games anyways.
Mike Wang of Visual Concepts:
"I love the PS4! I‘m a convert. I wasn’t a huge fan of the PS3 controller, but DualShock 4 is amazing, it feels perfect. I love the changes that Sony has done! The machine itself is ridiculous, it’s so powerful, so much easier to develop for. In the office it’s unanimous; we have a couple people who don’t play anything else now, they won’t touch Xbox One. We love the PS4, it’s a great system."

Re: Xbox One AND PS4 Info
Not a smart statement by Wang, alienate one console manufacturer and give people doubt about buying your game on XB1. I'm sure he will spin this like those guys were pure PS3 guys or something but the damage is done.
I know I'll be getting NBA2K on the PS4 now.

Re: Xbox One AND PS4 Info
Happily waiting this time around. I'm leaning towards Xbox one because of Live and the controller. I'll do my homework though and if the PS4 pulls ahead based on crowd reviews, then perhaps that might be enough to sway me. For now though, I'm going to have a good time on my 360 at least until spring.

Where will the Ice Dragons be next fall? That is a big key for me. That online play

I think Ill let you all you beta test for a while.

Re: Xbox One AND PS4 Info
I've never bought a launch console; hell, I didn't jump from PS2 to Xbox until halfway through the life cycle. I have gotten some fantastic games recently, so I'm set for quite some time. Haven't gotten BF4 yet, so I've still got that one to look forward to around Black Friday.

Yeah, just to be clear. I have nothing against XBOne. It's a great system. I was just trying to communicate that I like the PS4 much more than the PS3 (both in terms of development and the controller.) When I stated that I was a convert, it's because for the last 2 gens I've primarily been an Xbox gamer, but this gen I can see myself playing a lot of PS4.
The unanimous comment was NOT that the entire company or dev team favored PS4 over XB1, I was trying to say that everyone in the office agrees that the PS4 is a great system. That's all.
And yes, it's true that a couple people in the office are Sony fanboys and won't touch the Xbox 1... but it's also true that some people in the office are MS fanboys and won't touch the PS4.
Hope that clears some things up a bit.

Kick save and a beauty by Wang. Trust his first comment as truth, not his PR-varnished second attempt at saving industry face for Visual Concepts.

Re: Xbox One AND PS4 Info
Wang's comments are a positive for both MS and Sony. I'm sure they had to devote a lot of resources to program for the PS3. Having two consoles that are easy to program is a win win.
I'll own both consoles at some point. That's pretty much a given. More than likely, this will be the last console(s) purchase that I'm fully invested in. If my son or daughter is still playing and enjoying video games in 5 years, then I'm sure I'll get them the next NEXT gen system.
If it weren't for The Show, I might have waited to purchase a PS4 for a while. But knowing it'll be out in the Spring, and the cost of the console will be the same at that time, why not purchase it now? That's kind of how I'm looking at it. Plus, I'm very excited to play 2K14 and Fifa, along with BF4......and try out a rental of Madden 25. Not to mention, since selling my PS3, I don't have a blu-player in the house.

Yep spin control at its finest. I'm a gamer with disposable income so I will game on whatever and get both. Personally Sony is going to have to show me they can handle online games on their service but if I had to get just one system at this point it would be a PS4.pk500 wrote:Kick save and a beauty by Wang. Re: Xbox One AND PS4 Info
Some dude jacked up to talk to a blogger has no sway with me (though I do wonder about his future at VC). I'm guessing at this point the amount you can devote to either system with the limited amount of games to play. To say "no one touches the Xbox 1" could be accurate until the next game shows up. So silly. Just buy the system you'll play more. These systems are not sold on who handles "particle effects" better. It's who offers the best gaming (friends online, exclusive titles, online experience, etc). I'd never buy a system simply on 'particle effects".

Finally some Xbox One game previews:
http://www.polygon.com/2013/11/6/507306 ... dow-lineup
Lot's of Kinect stuff, but it sounds promising, like replacing QTE's and head tracking.
"Usually when you get [quick-time events], you're either wiggling a stick or pressing a button repeatedly," Bridge said. "I don't want to do any weird button stuff. I just want to say 'f- you' [and push a zombie off.]"
http://www.polygon.com/2013/11/6/504492 ... o-the-game
"At a recent Xbox One showcase, EA demonstrated the Kinect's head-tracking capabilities in conjunction with Battlefield 4. When the Kinect located where the player was seated, it tracked the player's head movements, which translated in the player's character being able to lean and peek around corners in the game."

I'm keen on the head tracking and other conceivable benefits, but I'm imagining the late night gaming sessions where one wakes the family because they had to curse off a zombie

Re: Xbox One AND PS4 Info
Exactly why even though the ps4 has taken over as front runner for our next console.. we have enjoyed the kinect and I know it's going to be pushed much further with the XB1.Pete1210 wrote:Finally some Xbox One game previews:

DSP is a good place to read everyone's impressions on both systems though.. so I'll wait at least for a few months before deciding.

Apparently random live members are getting free xboxes and KI codes today as being loyal members. I was an original XBL beta tester and I never get squat from them. they should stop calling these loyalty promotions when they just pick random people.
