Re: F1 2013
My lap had most of the fury but little of the speed...that Lotus is a tough car to drive. Thanks for setting this up, Don.

I'm in for Tuesdays and Thursdays as well. Usually can't start until 10:00, but might be able to make 9:30 on some nights.
Re: F1 2013
This is one long ass dowload! ..........Reminds me of a psn update!
Re: F1 2013
Quick question: Is anyone playing with the controller and having any success? (I would love a wheel, but haven't sprung for one yet) I am just brutal with the pad. Tried Melbourne in career with the Williams and can barely crack mid-1:30s.

I'm using a controller...and was 2nd in last weeks event that Don posted. I don't have the office setup to support a wheel so I make due w/ the controller.wabash97 wrote:Quick question: Is anyone playing with the controller and having any success? Re: F1 2013
As I suspected, it's just me, sucking. For some reason while I've always been pretty good with heavier cars where you sort of feel your way through the turn, the F1 games with their precise braking points and full turn in (I can't think of a technical way to describe that ... I think it's the absence of trail braking) kill me. I can barely find the braking points, and when I do, I still miss them fairly consistently.
Back to practice.

Re: F1 2013
I always use a controller. I've never raced on a console with a wheel. The closest I ever came was one of these beauties on the PSX:wabash97 wrote:Quick question: Is anyone playing with the controller and having any success? I would kill for a 360 version of the neGcon controller. Such a clever, effective little device.

Re: F1 2013
Well then, I suppose I feel better. The good news: It can be done. The bad: I still suck. But, I haven't played a Codemasters F1 game prior to this year's, so I think I just need some seat time.
That PSX controller does look pretty cool.

Re: F1 2013
I hate Melbourne in the games. In every version of F1 from Codies, I do very poorly at Melbourne compared to where the car should be. There's something about the chicanes at turns 1 and 2, 6 and 7, and 9 and 10 that gives me endless trouble. I can't seem to see them right and always get the turn in wrong. The AI seems to dust me on the final corner as well where I always struggle of grip, while they seem to be able to just keep the hammer down.
I've learned though the years of Codies' F1 games that on certain tracks I suck vs the AI and on others I'm very good compared to AI.
The point I'm making is, don't make a final judgement about your ability with a controller based on racing at Melbourne. I just suffer through that weekend and look forward to Sepang and other tracks I'm better at.

Re: F1 2013
That is good to hear. I know after a few sessions at Brands Hatch with the classics I was competing on a fairly even keel speed wise, minus some maddening inconsistency on my part. And yes to the chicanes. For some reason I have trouble softpedaling the exits when the AI is able to hammer down. Same goes for the final corner. If I take it at full speed I'm off into the wall or just shy of it. I'll just suffer through it and see what happens in the next round. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: F1 2013
Controller here too. The handling model takes a bit of adjusting to even if you have previous experience of Codemasters F1 games and I'm another one who's pretty horrible around Melbourne, so I'd echo the thoughts of others here. There's no substitute for seat time and, as Melbourne's characteristics are not shared by other circuits, you might enjoy that seat time more at some of the following venues. I also find I suck at Shanghai, Hungaroring and Nurburgring but I think that's just me rather than any shared characteristics.wabash97 wrote:Quick question: Is anyone playing with the controller and having any success? Re: F1 2013
Can someone who has not completed a Time Trial at Suzuka (Japan) tell me what the Default Ghost time is that is listed for Ferrari (Dry) when you go to start a Time Trial? Once you post a time, even if it is slower than the default Ghost Time, it gets replaced by your time. I am just trying to track what the benchmark time is. Simo and Zeppo already have times there, so it can't be one of them. Thanks in advance!

Assuming it's the same on the PC version, I'll check when I get home in about an hour.

I'd still love to see a 360 version of this racing controller (ps3 only)

Re: F1 2013
If it's you, you should be able to do a "forgot password" option and have it send you a link to re-set. RaceNet is Codemasters web based stat tracking service. It has been used for Dirt Showdown, F1 2012, F1 Superstars, and Grid 2 to date, so you may have signed up then.XXXIV wrote:call it laziness(it is what it is) but I dont understand racenet

Re: F1 2013
Any suggestions to make sure a RaceNet time actually posts? I took about 8 tenths off my time during a session but it didn't save the lap.

Re: F1 2013
Just post your time here and I will add it to the final results. I trust everyone here to be honest about their times, so if RaceNet screws you, just post what your actual time was here. RaceNet is definitely spotty at this point. Even on the normal time trials it has my times for Australia about 4 seconds faster than what I have actually done in the game. The stats inside the game seem fine, its the data on RaceNet that is off. I really hope they fix it this year.Dave wrote:Any suggestions to make sure a RaceNet time actually posts? This happened to me last week, too. Saving to Racenet is Codemasters' virtual answer to playing Pin the Tail on the Donkey.Dave wrote:Any suggestions to make sure a RaceNet time actually posts? I took about 8 tenths off my time during a session but it didn't save the lap.
