I really didn't have a routing interest for tonights game but that might of been the worst officiated game of the season thus far.

This whole day of football has been terribly officiated. Its ironic that the quality of the officiating keeps getting worse and worse as they keep adding more stupid rules. We are only going to get worse so get used to it.

What better place to be crucified than lining up behind the Rams o-line?

Bears are toast. Cutler out 4 weeks, Briggs 4-6...brutal weekend for injuries around the league. Wow.

Bears were already toast. Skins got the win yesterday but if there is another minute on the clock they likely lose because they couldn't stop Josh McCown.

There are just a lot of really bad teams in the NFL this year, or maybe parity is the word.

By the time we get to the stretch run you might have starting QB's that weren't even on rosters last week.

You could put together a hell of a team with just the Bears and Packers who have had significant injuries this season: Cutler, Brian Bulaga, Briggs, Cobb, Finley, James Jones, Clay Matthews, Henry Melton, Kelvin Hayden, James Starks...

Bizarre year for sure.

At least we get to enjoy a few weeks of Peyton McCown while Cutler is out.

I think you're judging against historical criteria, which would value a defense that could stop the other team and other similar archaic concepts. :) Seriously, between the rules changes, modern offensive schemes (especially the wild proliferation of option routes), athletic QB's and the way the game is called, defense is essentially dead. All you need to win an NFL game is about 25% of what used to constitute effective defense. That Bears/Skins game was evidence of that.

Teams are, quite logically, investing more and more of their resources on offense, so it becomes a cycle of defensive degradation.

Every once in a while some defense will force so many turnovers or create so much pressure on the QB that it will shut down a team, but it's a rare enough occurrence that it is more likely to create a incorrect perception of a team's quality rather than act as an indicator of overall team quality.

Brutal stretch for the Bears during the game. They had five starters out by the end, and four of them were major guys. Not a lot of teams are going to win if they lose the starting QB and two best defensive players. Tough loss to see them almost pull out a win despite all the downed players.

I would bet money Cutler is gone for the year and being a contract year is he even coming back?

I believe he's restricted, so they could theoretically franchise him next season. If they can't come to a deal in the off-season, I think expect that they would.

When I heard about that I threw up in my mouth.

Last night I went to bed things couldnt get any worse. teach me a lesson. That would be so f***in annoying.

They have the hammer and the nails for sure.

I really feel bad for Sam. I thought he might have been getting the idea the last couple of games but yet another year flushed. It probably should not matter but he seems like such a good kid it just adds to my unhappiness with this season. The last decade.

You might be right I just know that a pulled groin is hard enough to come back from, a torn one. 4 weeks seems very aggressive.

As my evidence for a lot of really bad teams, I present tonight's Monday Night Game. :)

So are the Texans....2-5, Cushing lost for the season, Foster out for an undetermined amount of time, Ben Tate has rib injuries and the Texans also released 3 rookies today, one of which was Tate's backup at RB.....cue Dandy Don Meredith.....

All fans can just take a breath and agree on one things.

At least we don't root for the Vikings. Talk about a franchise is total disarray.

I feel bad for him, too. I write a little weekly e-mail for my main fantasy league about the top 10 flex and QB players, and I was making fun of everyone (myself included) for not picking up Bradford even though he was having a better season than some of the marquee names people were starting. Sadly, no one picked him up.

I really have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, he is unquestionably the best Bears QB in terms of skill set, and he is playing pretty well in Trestman's offense. On the other, he seems a lot like Flacco, a guy who is going to get a big contract he doesn't really match his ability level because of some emotional reasons (and at least he won a SB). There are enough teams with terrible QBs that I feel someone will overpay for Jay. However, if he walks, I think Marshall will bolt unless the Bears bring in a definitive upgrade, which is unlikely.
