I'm with you, Rob. Of course, I'm barely at the beginning of the single player, so I'm definitely in no rush to jettison the game from my library. :D My memories of GTA IV online co-op missions and RDR co-op stuff was that we played those modes months and months after the initial release of those games. I'm expecting something similar with this one.

Online could be f*cked up in this game until Thanksgiving, and I wouldn't care. The single-player story mode is so deep and so fun that I'm more than willing to wait for Rockstar to fix this online debacle.

PS3 GTA online update is available now, xbox 360 update supposed to come later today. Hopefully this helps.

I don't mind a short wait while they get their online act together. I'm still early on in singleplayer at about 20% completion. And this is one of those games that will be a permanent part of my collection.

Same here, I'm sooo early in the single player, I'm willing to be very patient. The rumors about online errors corrupting SP saves worry me a bit too. With the limited time I've got to play right now, my main frustration with online (when I feel like giving it a spin) is losing precious minutes to lost-cause loading screens. Better to stick with the adventures of Trevor for the time being.

Trevor sure is something. I should find him disturbing, but in truth he's sort of the first character that really matches what the world of GTA asks him to do. I feel no culpability in his crimes. :)

I'll have to keep my sessions to an hour and see if that helps.
Endured an enjoyable 3 hour gaming session last night and went to bed slightly dizzy and queasy. That was the longest time I have had with this game, and I'm thinking I can only play this for for an hour at a time as well. I even woke up feeling slightly off still.

Trying to land the plane over and over certainly didn't help! I hate the flying mechanics in this game.

I got the online patch (xbox 360) when I turned on GTA V today!

I just played online with no issues for about an hour. :D

Finished 3rd in the first race and then pulled off the first job with a few randoms who actually worked together for most of it. Then after was it over, I was out of bullets and one guy killed me. Respawn screen was unique.
After that I went off on my own, robbed a store and grabbed my first car. I made sure to get a four door sedan for DSP Crew business.

Got finally to the race where I won it. Then in a mad car chase that literally took between 30 to 40 minutes to get the drugs from the dude that would not die (including rolling him over while he was on foot).

Then as I was to deliver the goods, I get kicked out online. Aarrgghh.

I've been on for about an hour and it's been fun. Won the first race for some $$$. Been playing random DM And missions. Just finished a "Crooked Cop" mission. Stole a briefcase as a team and had to deliver it. It was wild. Guys coming after you, shooting, cars...pretty sweet.

That video was very funny.

Starting out online the leveling up is a drag. I am at 5 or 6 and still the only weapon I can buy is a pistol. GTA IV was intant mayhem with the weapon pickups scattered around. I want an RPG!!!
Then I got involved in a mission retreiving a car for Simeon, which took forever. The most fun I had last night was getting a wanted level and running away from the cops with a friend.

We now have 30 members in the DSP Crew. I am pretty sure we can restrict our games to friends or crew only. You do need to complete the tutorial consisting of 2 or 3 short missions, before you can join a game. Hope we can get the Crew together online this week.

We need to, so I can see how that will be, because playing online with randoms isn't worth a damn, as far as I'm concerned. If you don't feel like doing what some knucklehead sends you endless "texts" on your phone to do, they'll hunt you down and kill you repeatedly. Sure, I can pay the 100 bucks to go into "passive" mode, but I fail to see the point of that, either.

I've played one mission with Leadfoot, and it was moderately fun, although I got killed and, for some reason, Lead respawned in the mission, while I was forced to sit and watch the rest of the mission.

I've played some deathmatches, which are fine, but they're exactly like RDR matches, and the setting in RDR was just more fun, for my tastes. They're not bad, not at all, just...not different.

The limits set on the game, like Pete says, are pretty frustrating. Can't do much of anything at first. I'm level 5, and still can't do much.

I dunno...I'm just not slobbering over the online just yet.

I've had the opposite experience. Played randoms and raced a lot.. Motorcycles, bicycles, parachute jumps, off road and even a motocross track. Missions and last team standing, which is fun since you only have one life. The danger of random dudes ganking you is tense, but I've killed all but one that tried to off me lol. Only thing I disliked was losing my progress after hitting rank 12 because I didn't exit properly. It only saves when you exit, so I lost an entire evening of progress.

Overall, I have had an incredible time once it worked. Yes, you can set it to private, friends or crew only, invite only, or whatever. Somehow yesterday I ended up getting strafed by a guy in a fighter jet in the desert. Out of nowhere I was napalmed and cluster bombed while cruising along the highway. I LOLd at that one.. Ganking done right lol

I just kept thinking how fun it would be with people you know, but even with randoms it never felt out of control. I ran some missions with randoms, and we all piled into a couple of cars. We were supposed to hack a keypad and steal some cars from a rich guy, but the other 2 idiots were firing shots at random cars on the way, so by the time we rolled up to the mansion, they were tailed by 2 choppers, 5 or 6 cop cars, and we had a massive shootout at the front gate  Very subtle!

I was very impressed with the overall package, and really looking forward to running missions with people I know.

Online is OK...but I texted 34 to join up with me, he was in the same game, and the f***er blew me off.

I think playing with a crew will be good as playing with randos is highly hit or miss.

I have been underwhelmed so far. I am hoping the heists will add something, but I am not finding a lot of co-op style missions which are more of what I am interested in when it comes to GTA multiplayer. It appears to be almost exclusively races and team based games.

If you don't team up, there really is no point as the map is SOOOO big.

I definitely want to team up, just not against random other guys in death matches. I was under the impression that there would be a lot of missions where you and a crew could go up against AI whether it be cops, gangs, or heists just like in the single player. Maybe it will be in there at some point or I am missing it. If they are going to count 500 different locations of team death match as their 500 unique missions it may just be a misunderstanding on my part.

The heists were the bedrock of my enthusiasm for the MP reveal. It would have been nice to know that they weren't going to be a part of the MP at first, at least as far as I can see. The missions I've played are "go here, shoot people, run from cops." Nothing really all that inventive.

Maybe it'll pick up. If we can get some cohesive community action, set nights to play, all that, then it might grow on me more. I just have no desire to play a game like this with randoms.

Just been lurking reading your impressions as my game doesn't come til tomorrow. My 360 went out of commission last week, so I picked up a new console at Amazon with the $50 credit. So got a new console and GTA V for less than $200. Great deal for me.

I must say the heists is what I was looking forward to most,as Payday2 intrigued me, but I didn't pick it up after I heard GTA V would have similar gameplay. Are you saying heists aren't implemented yet?

I opted out of Payday 2 for the same reason, but am seriously considering going to pick it up now. No, to my knowledge, the heists are not implemented.

Heists were supposed to be available right away, but that feature has been delayed. I'm not surprised since they need to get the basics working online before adding what seems to be a more complex game mode. Anyway, it could be a while before I earn enough cash for the planning room. I only have about 8K at the moment.

Almost drove off the road IRL yesterday. Listening a random selection of Hip Hop from my collection and Beastie Boys pops on. The Move from "Hello Nasty".

And I finally realized where I knew this damn song from. Been driving me absolutely crazy.
