Milestone returns for their second motocross game. And by the details and the subtle name change it looks like they will return to their simulation routes for their motocross game. I loved MUD but it was too arcade. This is great news. And by the small clip in the trailer and the features blurb it looks like we get true replica tracks this year.

Re: MXGP THE OFFICAL MOTOCROSS VIDEOGAME LAUNCH TRAILER AND
This game released, and I know hrudey has been posting a lot of love about it on OS. Thought I'd share some over here.
Amazing, amazing MX game. I didn't think it would be worth a damn, considering Mud was highly questionable. But this one is an absolute blast. The physics are very good, where you separate bike from rider a la MX vs ATV, but it's 100% pure Motocross with official licensing. Track deforms, and while it's not quite perfect, you definitely have issues navigating ruts in some cases. But what it gave me is a very rideable first person camera where you can see what the bike is doing--manual shifting, accurately modeled tracks, and a LOT of fun. The demo is on Steam, as is the full game, but it's got a full career to progress from MX2 to MX1, and while it took a while for me to get good at it, the zen-like trance you get into when flying around a track is amazing. Separate front and rear brakes (but no clutch, oddly) mean you can actually shift your weight back a bit, lock the rear brake, and initiate a slide yourself. Or wheelie through sections (you can definitely shoot the bike out from under you easily, though).
The game takes a ton of finesse to get around the track fast on Realistic AI, and while I'd like to see even a bit MORE challenge from them there, when you set it to Pro physics, manual shifting, realistic AI, and first person camera--it's the best MX game I've ever played in my life. I've been waiting years for a MX game to bring that grin to my face--or to really let me see the track and deformation enough in first person to know where I want to go and not have that weird "disembodied head" camera when they try to go first person.
All it's missing is a clutch and tearoffs in a helmet cam.

Re: MXGP THE OFFICAL MOTOCROSS VIDEOGAME LAUNCH TRAILER AND
Thanks for the info Terry. I too have been looking forward to a realistic, challenging, but fun MX game for years. I bought MUD last year for the 360 and tried 3 times to like it to no avail. This MXGP sounds fantastic. Unfortunately, looks like once again another MileStone racing game is not coming to the US for consoles, joining MotoGP 13 and WRC 4 as games that could only be played on PC in the US.
Re: MXGP THE OFFICAL MOTOCROSS VIDEOGAME LAUNCH TRAILER AND
Can we (in the US) still buy it from UK sources? Will it work on all 360's?

Re: MXGP THE OFFICAL MOTOCROSS VIDEOGAME LAUNCH TRAILER AND
My understanding is no, it will not. Not the 360 version anyway. The PS3 version is not region locked. Why Milestone is unable to release these as digital download to the US 360 users is beyond me. I would gladly buy WRC 4, MotoGP 13, and MXGP for 360 if they were available. I can only assume that it is some kind of licensing issue.
Re: MXGP THE OFFICAL MOTOCROSS VIDEOGAME LAUNCH TRAILER AND
That's too bad. It sounds like we finally have a quality mx game and I can't even get it for the 360. I'm sure I don't have the PC power to run that version either.DChaps wrote:My understanding is no, it will not. Not the 360 version anyway. The PS3 version is not region locked. Re: MXGP THE OFFICAL MOTOCROSS VIDEOGAME LAUNCH TRAILER AND
there is a demo available on Steam for those of you that have at least 2.4 power in your PC's.
Sadly, I don't.

FYI, noticed it's $19.99 on Steam.
