Re: The really great TV thread
Dear Walt:
Hubris bites.
Seriously, that was probably the most intense hour of TV I've ever seen. Astonishing. That episode just wrung me of emotion. I'm blank, man.

There is no doubt about that.pk500 wrote:Dear Walt:

The flashback was especially funny because of the call back to his pants later on in the episode when Walt is rolling the barrel. Pants spotted! That sh*t is genius. It wasn't an exact flashback, but in the first ep he said he had to go make a call from what I remember but we never heard the actual call. But I could be mistaken.

That's correct. They shot a new scene for that 'flashback'. Great Episode.dbdynsty25 wrote:There is no doubt about that.pk500 wrote:Dear Walt:

Mad Men is going the way of Breaking Bad by splitting up the final season into two parts. Jerks.

Re: The really great TV thread
What is AMC going to have after BB and MM are done?
Walking Bad is okay but it's basically a comic book. With the high ratings, that may be where they're headed, instead of "quality" like MM and BB. Prestige doesn't pay the bills, after all.
They cut out Rubicon pretty quickly and looks like they're going to be dumping Low Winter Sun, which has neither ratings nor prestige.

They are going to have the Better Call Saul Spinoff, a walking dead spinoff as well. Low Winter Sun sucks...they should have cancelled that after week 2.

I usually give shows close to a full season before bailing. But "Low Winter Sun" was so bad I abandoned that sinking ship after the second episode.

Thats what happens when you cast English actors as Americans, i had high hopes for it until i heard them talk, thought it was going to be British gangster series.pk500 wrote:I usually give shows close to a full season before bailing. Although saying that i think the blonde religious chick in Rectify was English and she did and outstanding job with her southern accent, i was blown away when i saw here in an interview.

Re: The really great TV thread
Easy, now! Englishman Damian Lewis was great as Frank Winters in "Band of Brothers" and as Nicholas Brody in "Homeland." The chick who plays Lydia in "Breaking Bad" is Scottish. And Brits Dominic West and Idris Elba were fantastic as McNulty and Stringer Bell, respectively, in the greatest TV series of all time -- "The Wire."Jimmydeicide wrote:Thats what happens when you cast English actors as Americans, i had high hopes for it until i heard them talk, thought it was going to be British gangster series.pk500 wrote:I usually give shows close to a full season before bailing. We interrupt your regularly scheduled Break Bad jizzfest to state that The League episode about Andre's wedding was not only the funniest in about two seasons, it also featured several shots of Katie Aselton in a bikini.

Wanna do the aforementioned DP?Brando70 wrote:...it also featured several shots of Katie Aselton in a bikini.
And holy crap...she's actually married to Mark Duplass (Pete) on the show. Had no idea.
Re: The really great TV thread
Nadine Velazquez is also stunning, though she's more of a semi-regular.
But The League also had Brooklyn Decker for a few episodes too.
Duplass also does a great character as a midwife on The Mindy Project.

Amen on all counts. I was so relieved that it had some laughs after last season's disaster. As for Aselton, I'm already on the record.Brando70 wrote:We interrupt your regularly scheduled Break Bad jizzfest to state that The League episode about Andre's wedding was not only the funniest in about two seasons, it also featured several shots of Katie Aselton in a bikini.

This would be great foreshadowing. The hockey game on in the bar of last night's Breaking Bad was a Denver-Wisconsin game from 1998. You hear the score is 2-1 Denver in the background. In real life, Wisconsin came back with 6 goals in the 3rd period to win...

Seems like the last episode may be rushed, if Walt is going to tie up loose ends.
The decision on the final episodes was made like 2 years ago and it seemed BB was struggling in the ratings and was on the bubble of being renewed by AMC.
But now, I think they're doing better in the ratings and they might have been able to tell the story of the end over a couple more episodes.
Very few shows have pulled off finales well. If they have to rush through and try to pack a lot into the finale, BB may not be able to pull it off well.

Re: The really great TV thread
As far as I'm concerned the only thing that needs to happen in the finale is obviously Walt dying. I'm sure it'll be on his own terms and not on Cancer's, but that's the only end game we're really sure of. Jesse will also likely kill himself some how, just so Brock doesn't have the same fate as his mother.wco81 wrote:Seems like the last episode may be rushed, if Walt is going to tie up loose ends.

Plus, they really could have ended the series after the last episode and everything would have been dandy. The rest of this is really just a P.S. It doesn't feel rushed at all to me because of this.
Re: The really great TV thread
It really felt last night like they were setting up a redemption scenario. My wild-ass guess? I think Walt brings down the Nazis/Lydia very publicly. Then he confesses and allows himself to be arrested to free Skylar from the threat of further prosecution. The ricin is for himself. Goes out on his terms rather than letting the cancer take him.

Walt takes out Nazis, inadvertently 'rescues' Jesse, Jesse kills Walt.

Re: The really great TV thread
When Walt showed up at the diner to buy the gun and at the home to retrieve the ricin, he didn't look that sickly. In fact, all the hair suggested he was no longer taking chemo and largely cured?
But on this last episode, he's sickly despite the hair.
Hard to believe he'd be able to go commando with the M60 on Jack's crew if he was sickly and hacking up.
Hell he could barely leave the hideaway without feeling faint.
