Did anyone else get the code to pilot the atomic blimp? It was included with the map, manual, etc. I'm just wondering if everyone gets the same thing or something different.

It was in my case. From what I've read over at OS, many people have gotten it as well.Murph wrote:Did anyone else get the code to pilot the atomic blimp? It was included with the map, manual, etc. I'm just wondering if everyone gets the same thing or something different.

The blimp was a stock pre-order bonus.

Just took the Vinewood Star Tours...lol, that's some seriously funny stuff. Before the 9 year old got home (at which point I shut this sucker off FAST-lol), I went up to the Observatory in the evening and took a look around. My lord, just the city alone is HUGE.

Absolutely! I got mine at Target, and in addition to a full rack of copies in the videogame dept., there were three completely full standalone racks set up by the check-out lanes as well as one in front of each entrance to the store. You couldn't turn around without bumping into 30 copies.Murph wrote:

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
For real. I just got in a car and drove north, out of the city and into the valley - just gunning down the roads past the fields, drove for a good 5 minutes and then paused to look at the map - wasn't even half way north of the entire map! The area just north of Los Santos is absolutely gorgeous.Teal wrote: My lord, just the city alone is HUGE.
The Ammu-Nation shooting range mini-games are addictive fun.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I called my 11 year old son and asked him if he had a certain collectible from TRU, and he said he did. He then asked why I was at TRU, and I told him I just picked up a video game. He said "Ohhhh, you got GTA 5!! I can't wait to play it when you get home!" And I was like....."Yeah Noah, that is not happening!"
Unfortunately, I won't be popping this game in to the 360 until well after 9pm....

I went to BB looking for the PS3 version and all they had were 360. I found a copy at Wally World. I haven't fallen for the Gamestop preorder scam in 5 years. Most new releases are readily available.RobVarak wrote:Absolutely! Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I was shocked to see the UPS driver show up at 12:30 PM with my copy of GTA V, that I ordered from the Microsoft store after seeing the bonus Microsoft points being bundled with the game. I thought I got in after the deadline on free overnight shipping... it wasn't even mentioned during my order, in which I specified standard shipping. Anyway, I'm playing it now and I'm shocked at how big this world is!? I've never played GTA V, so needless to say I was was in for a shock. There's a lot to do and I can tell that I already know so little about how to function in this world.
I was really curious about the golf, but I've learned that you can't play at the "9-hole" golf club (I thought all the previews said 18?) unless you're a member. I don't see any information on how to get a membership though. I've been to the course and walked it. It looks interesting. I've seen some videos of people playing it on You Tube. Anyone had a chance to play the golf yet?

Quick question...I installed the install disc...it then prompted me to place disc 2 in the tray - so I did. That disc said it was "loading story mode" and then it's said "install complete". Did I just install the play disc...like I wasn't supposed to? I didn't have any option to do anything else.

I bought the PS3 version but whatever you do don't install disc #2 to the hard drive. Rockstar mentioned this on several websites. The game plays better and has better performance if you just install disc #1.Diablo25 wrote:Quick question...I installed the install disc...it then prompted me to place disc 2 in the tray - so I did. I know...that is why I asked the question. I don't know if I installed disc two...it prompted me to place disc two in tray. I didn't press any buttons saying "Install Disc". Ok, looks like I didn't install it. I got confused because after the story mode loaded from disc two there was a message that said "Install Complete". I just hit "Game Details" on the main 360 menu and there is an option to install the disc (like you normally would) so I guess I'm good.

Yeah that's the caching the game does to the harddrive. That's probably why you saw that message.

I'm a GTA virgin too and I'm amazed at the vastness of the gaming world and a bit overwhelmed with all the gaming elements.
I was hoping to play a round of golf and I'm also interested in how to become a country club member.
As an avid racing gamer how do you find the driving of the vehicles in this game using the standard XBox 360 controller?

One thing I was disappointed to learn from one of the you tube videos was that they took a page from default mode of Tiger Woods... you can apply post shot spin to the shotMERACE wrote:I'm a GTA virgin too and I'm amazed at the vastness of the gaming world and a bit overwhelmed with all the gaming elements.

I've tried one of the street races that some bald headed dude invited me to. It was a two lap race around a city stretch at night. It took me about 15 trials to finally win it, but it was more because of the random wrecking of the normal traffic than the handling with the controller that was responsible. I find the driving controls just a wee bit twitchy, but I've never been good with any racing game using a thumbstick. I can manage reasonably well with the arcadish handling used for driving in this game. I was also surprised to see how a damaged car affects handling and acceleration... to some degree. I'm sure there's a lot more to the racing that I haven't uncovered yet, but what I've had was strangely addictiveAs an avid racing gamer how do you find the driving of the vehicles in this game using the standard XBox 360 controller?

BTW, you can ride the cart, walk, or skip to your next shot during the golf in this game. I know that's been requested for years in the Tiger Woods games. It's nice to see it as an option in this one. I wonder if this is popular enough if they might not make another course or two as DLC?

JC,
It's a side / mini game. Don't look to GTA V to get your golf fix

How does one access this side game though? I wound up getting killed by the police every time I show up at the club, day or nightWilk5280 wrote:JC,

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Probably need to progress missions to gain access to country club golf in singleplayer.J_Cauthen wrote:How does one access this side game though? I wound up getting killed by the police every time I show up at the club, day or nightWilk5280 wrote:JC,

I expect in multiplayer (which launches 10/1) you'll have access to play golf from the start.

Such beautiful sunsets but what the game is missing is that RDR flower picking option.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
I just watched a YouTube video of a guy playing golf and I cracked up laughing when he rode his golf cart through the bunkers so fast that he flip the cart and it landed on the green. He followed that up with a golf cart jump over a bridge with the middle part missing.J_Cauthen wrote:

I don't get it, but then again, in GTA V's world, I don't think real world physics are necessarily the rule

The golf game has the basic swing mechanics and seems to have believable physics to make it a decent enough game of golf competition among crew members or friends.
It probably wouldn't cost Rockstar much to create additional DLC golf courses but I'm not sure that there would be enough interest outside of a few of us golfing fanatics.

Re: Grand Theft Auto V
Is anyone else having trouble reading the onscreen text/content? I seriously cannot make out most of the text. When instructions pop up in the top left corner I can barely make out most words and then cannot read the button they are telling me to use. Also, when I get an email or text message on the phone the text is so small and blurry that I can't make it out. Maybe a word or two but that's it. The map also seems too small for any real use.
